I Keep Getting Bruises All Over My Body What Could It Be

I keep getting random bruises on my body?

Anemia is a low red cell count and does NOT cause brusing.

Brusing is casued by
1) fragile or injured blood vessel walls (vasculitis)
2) low platelet count
3) low clotting factor count or the presence of anti clotting agents
3) trauma but since you say these are random I will assume trauma is not the case but it you exercise a lot and are active you may have trauma without knowing it.

Vasculitis is caused by many different factors. An exam by a doctor will determine if vascultiis is present then special blood tests can isolate the cause.

Low platelet count
Platelets are tiny cells responsible for plugging holes in blood vessals. Their reduction can be d to b12 deficiency, large spleen and many other factors. An exam and lab tests are needed to find the condition and isolate the cause.

Clotting factors
Deficiency and the presence of anticlotting agents are found only by special blood tests.

The bottom line is YOU NEED TO SEE A DOCTOR SOON, the capitals are for your attention, not to scare you, but please see a doctor within 1-2 days.

Why do I keep getting random scratches and bruises all over my body?

Why do I keep getting random scratches and bruises all over my body?A few possibilities spring to mind:You have an invisible cat and keep forgetting to feed it.You go hiking through the woods in a tank top and shorts.You walk in your sleep.Someone else in your household walks in their sleep.Youhave an invisible dog to go with your invisible cat.You act out Lady MacBeth’s soliloquy in your sleep. “ Out, damned spot, out I say.”Seriously, you might check on your Vitamin C intake. It is one of the nutrients that prevents tiny veins from breaking and causing bruises. While you’re thinking about it, have a general medical checkup to make sure you’re not anemic and your Vitamin D and Calcium levels are OK. Make sure the air in your house is not too dry. Winter heating can cause the humidity to drop way too low and cause scratches from bumps that would not normally break the skin. Use a good combination lightweight moisturizer and sunscreen, even ( or especially) if there’s snow on the ground. It reflects UV rays and you can get a sunburn/windburn in the middle of winter, both of which can cause you to bruise or scratch easier than normal. But do get that checkup. Just try to stay out of doctor’s waiting rooms when the flu is going around —you do not need the flu on top of winter blahs.

I woke up with bruises all over my body?

Yesterday was a normal day and when i went to sleep i had no bruises on me what so ever. this morning i woke up and found bruises all over my entire body. Face, neck, arms, legs, everywhere. I sleep pretty peacefully so i know i didnt do it. Does anybody know what could have happened? Is this normal for an Indigo Child like me? (for those of you know that know what that is)

I keep waking up with cuts, bruises, and scratches all over my body?

Its been happening for the past three nights. Oddly enough, the first night I had a terrifying dream of me in church watching a big cross at the altar turning upside down, and a deep and raspy voice laughing loudly in the background. I woke up with a bunch of cuts and bruises on my arms legs and chest, and some of the cuts on my chest were bleeding. I find it strange that I haven't been waking up at all in the night and I never feel myself getting cut, I just wake up and I start feeling little stings from the scratches and cuts (they are not that painful). I've been waking up like this for the past three days, but i don't remember my dreams from the next two nights. I'm kind of to scared to sleep tonight. Has anyone ever has this experience or know what is going on? Thankyou.

If you wake up with bruises on your body what could be the reasons for it?

“If you wake up with bruises on your body what could be the reasons for it?”If your platelet count is too low you will bruise extremely easy.I have ITP (a blood disorder that causes dangerously low platelet count) and before my hematologist got it under control, I was constantly finding bruises that I had no idea what caused them. I bruised so easily that a friend bruised me by merely firmly holding my arm while I climbed up a stepladder. Within a few hours I had a hand-print shaped bruise on my arm. Untreated ITP sharply increases the risk of internal hemorrhaging and stroke.My advise is to let your doctor know this is going on.

Random bruising all over body?

1. The presence of bruises may be seen in patients with platelet or coagulation (blood-clotting) disorders
2. Leukemia (a cancer of the blood or bone marrow and is characterized by an abnormal proliferation (production by multiplication) of blood cells, usually white blood cells)
3. Meningoccocal infection (Meningococcal disease describes infections caused by the bacterium Neisseria meningitis - also termed meningococcus)
4. Unexplained bruising can also indicate internal bleeding or certain types of cancer
5. Long term glucocorticoid therapy can cause easy bruising
6. Bruising present around the navel (belly button) with severe abdominal pain suggests acute pancreatic (inflammation of the pancreas)

usually stuff like that, if it persists and has absolutely no other cause, can be caused by a low platelet count. The bruises are called "petechiae" and other than vitamin deficiency there are many scary possibilities as to what could could cause them in your case, and you should definitely try to see a doctor if you can. Things mentioned above low iron, anemic,

Why do unexplained bruises keep appearing?

Iron deficiency is usually the cause of multiple to random bruising. But you already talked about the blood tests so if its not that or anemia then it could be some of the following:
Causes of Easy Bruising

* Cirrhosis Of The Liver
* Marfan Syndrome-Marfan syndrome is a heritable condition that affects the connective tissue. The primary purpose of connective tissue is to hold the body together and provide a framework for growth and development. In Marfan syndrome, the connective tissue is defective and does not act as it should.

Other Causes of Easy Bruising

* Aging Skin
* Bone Marrow Disorders
* Hemophilia
* Liver Disease
* Platelet Disorders (Thrombocytopenias)
* Medications (both Prescription and Non-prescription, especially aspirin, NSAIDs, prednisone)
* Von Willebrand's Disease

Why do I have these unexplained bruises all over my body?

Hi Alison
This may sound weird, but have you been drinking any Tonic water lately?

Many years ago, I used to drink Vodka & Tonic. I often had mysterious bruises. I read an article about the affects of Quinine (an ingredient in Tonic water) and .. sure enough.. bruising was one of them.
I stopped drinking it, and the bruises stopped.

There are also some serious other side affects from quinine.

"Side Effects to Watch
Watch closely for the following side effects and notify your physician immediately should any of these develop:

Abnormal heart rate, fluttering in the chest, weakness, faintness, dizziness or loss of consciousness (signs of a serious condition called "torsade de pointe or QT prolongation" in which irregular heartbeats occur)
Abnormal bruising or signs of bleeding such as bleeding from the gums, nose, digestive tract, vagina (females), faintness, dizziness, loss of consciousness, or rash (signs of problems with blood clot formation)"

The amounts of quinine in the Tonic water are pretty small. But you may want to look into it anyway.

Check ingredients of other things in your diet too. Lemon and lime bitter drinks (even soft drinks) may contain it too.

Quarter sized bruises keep showing up on my legs? More details below.?

Everyday, throughout the day, I notice more and more quarter sized bruises appearing on my legs. Mostly by my knees. A few weeks ago I had blood taken and the doctor said my potassium was low. Could that be a factor on why I keep getting them? Not enough nutrients in my body? And btw I'm not hitting them on anything.
