I Know That Ps3 Games Dont Have Compatibility With Ps4 System But Can I Buy All The Existing Games

Why will Sony not make PS3 games compatible with the PS4?

Game consoles carry one distinct advantage, and one distinct disadvantage. The advantage, of course, is that the hardware specs for a console are stable, permitting you to have a clean performance target. The disadvantage is that game console hardware and operating systems are often rather exotic, and require specialized programming tailored to each individual console. The more exotic the console is, the more specialized that build has to be and the less of that code is portable to some other machine. The PS3 is unfortunately very, very exotic, such that it was quite difficult for most game studios to support. If they didn’t put a lot of special engineering into tools to support it, they had to cut corners on the PS3 version of a game in order to achieve a tolerable release. No matter what the case, though, at the end of the day the version of the game that’s licensed under Sony for the PS3 is always a weird build that isn’t applicable to most other hardware in the slightest.Bottom line: PS3 games will literally only work on a Playstation 3. The PS4’s hardware, while much more conventional and easier to work with, is configured differently enough relative to the PS3 that it’s impossible for it to run any of those games’ code, and a separate version of any given one of those games has to be made before the PS4 could run them. While that’s doable, it should be evident that the costs of doing this are far from trivial, and that the impetus for doing this would lie with the publishers of any given game and not necessarily Sony. There is not any especially practical way, then, that anyone can offer a former PS3 owner a free PS4-compatible version of their games. As such companies have taken the position of doing remasters, the better to ensure good value on the improved console as well as get a reasonable return on the man-hours to do the port in the first place.

Are all PS1 games compatible with PS3? If not, how can I find out which ones are?

most if not all PS1 games should be compatible with ANY PS3 (regardless of what these other yahoos are saying because they are wrong about your PS3 not being BC at all). but if you have specific games in mind, you can always check them through Sony's game compatibility checker. it will list any issues that could pop up while playing.

Why do people buy digital games on consoles?

especially on PS4 or Xbox One, you can almost always find the game cheaper used on a disc. even if you live out in a rural area, some online sites like Walmart sells used games online.

i only download digital games on Xbox One if it's free. otherwise, I always but them on disc new or used for resale / trade in value.

especially if it's an older 360 game that works on xbox one via backwards compatibility, i will buy used if it's not a games with gold and almost always get them under $10 at various stores near me.

is it purely for the convenience of downloading digital and not the effort of driving to a local store and checking out prices there?

do you buy disc or digital?

Does the playstation VR work on the old PS4?

Absolutely! You won’t have the same image quality and effects as you would on a PS4 Pro, but it works perfectly fine on a base PS4.Disclaimer: I own a base PS4 and a friend has a PS4 Pro and we compared our VR experiences from both consoles. While the PS4 Pro is sharper in terms of resolution/pixels, it’s not like the base one is unplayable. I might be biased, though, since I don’t find anything wrong with my custom-ordered Google Cardboard, but I’ve played more than a few games on my base PS4 in VR to say that - yes, it’s definitely worth it.

Will a ps3 160gb play ps2 games?

to clear up the confusion that a lot of people seem to have when it comes to backwards compatibility, you're going to get my long answer.

just because a PS3 is fat does NOT mean it can play PS2 games. there is a fat 40GB and 80GB and neither of them play PS2 games. the only models that can play PS2 game discs are as follows:

20GB - CECHBxx
60GB - CECHAxx, CECHCxx
80GB - CECHExx

all of the other systems can NOT play PS2 game discs. they can, however, play PS2 games downloaded through the PlayStation store.

backward compatibility for the PS3 with PS2 games is as follows on NTSC-U/C systems:

20GB (4 USB slots, fat, no longer in production) - YES
60GB (4 USB slots, fat, no longer in production) - YES
80GB with 4 USB slots (fat, no longer in production, bundled with MGS4 or Motor Storm) - YES
40GB (2 USB slots, fat, no longer in production) - NO
80GB with 2 USB slots (fat, no longer in production) - NO
160GB (2 USB slots, fat, no longer in production) - NO
120GB/slim (2 USB slots) - NO
250GB/slim (2 USB slots) - NO
any other up coming PS3's - NO

in short: if it has 4 USB slots, yes. if it has 2 USB slots, no.

also, you CANNOT mod a PS3 to play PS2 game discs. it is impossible.

as stated on the PlayStation website: "If a PlayStation 3 is not backward compatible, you will not be able to add this function through any hardware (i.e., changing the hard disk drive) or software (i.e., updates, homebrew) upgrades or modifications."

the software found on the PSN is for backwards compatible PS3s ONLY, and will NOT make a non-BC PS3 backwards compatible with PS2 games.

and a real expert would know that backwards compatible PS3s are NOT all from 2006. CECHAxx and CECHBxx came out in 2006. CECHCxx and CECHExx came out in 2007. know your facts before calling yourself an expert.
