I Like Street Racing Cars And I Just Wanted To Know If There Was Any Websites To Look At Them

How do you make a street racing car?

The cheapest, and easiest, way to do it is to take what you've got and go race somebody on public roads. This is dangerous, stupid, and illegal, but you can do it any time you want. But perhaps you're asking about a cars like these, made famous on the TV show "Street Outlaws" -These are purpose built street racing cars. They'll run low 7 seconds in the quarter mile (Sean, the owner of the Nova, says it's a 6 second car). 150MPH+ in the 1/8 mile. These are tube framed race cars with at least 1,500 horsepower, built by professionals. Theoretically drivable on the street, but as a practical matter they get trailered everywhere. They cost as much as a house. The Camaro took "only" two years to build. You aren't going to beat these cars without spending as much time and money as their owners did. However, these cars are also featured -The Farm Truck. Mid 10 second quarter mile car. No tube frame, no turbos. Wins an awful lot of money racing what most people would consider to be fast cars. You could probably do this for about $25K.The Old Slut. Built with a welder and parts other people were throwing away. Probably an 8 or 9 second car. Beats a lot of faster cars because it gets power to the ground better than most. There's probably about $25K in this car. If you want to go racing, remember the old adage - Speed costs money. How fast can you afford to go?

Whats a good car you can make into a street racing car/tuner?

I know how to drive, My dads a mechanic so i know most of my stuff. I want a cheap car that you can make look real nice with just a body kit. Any ideas (I know how to drive standard too)

Is street racing in the mold of the older Fast and Furious movies still alive in the US?

Not very much.  I haven't seen it in a long time.  Kids don't cruise anymore.  The guys hanging out behind Kmart with their cars are in their 40s  and up.  And the cars are "collectable".   A good friend of mine used to be into that scene and is a semi professional drag racer still.  He occasionally talks about how someone will challenge him from a street light or now a days while rolling down he highway. It's rare that I see a "tuner car". There's a Subaru that drives by my house every evening with a slammed suspension and a huge spoiler literally above the roof of the car.  But other than that, I haven't seen a car that has been modified to look fast or be fast in a long time.   Tuner cars are pretty much gone.  In the 80s and 90s, the US didn't have any fun cars at all.  Not ones teens and 20 something's could afford.  Now we do.  Cars are much less friendly to tuning and teens are much less interested in the physical world.Race on forza  if you want to race seems to be more the style.  Millenials do have a big desire to show off and don't mature at all.  So, the exotic car scene has gotten very low brow and you can see them racing on the highways.  It seems America has fallen out of love with Motorsport.  I mean, probably the biggest name in american driving is ken block and he's only known because hes a fashion designer.  Kids love the brand stickers.. But even thats fading.But... I'm also living in the South and by DC .  snooty people living off tax dollars making millions per year and people making nothing... Not much In between.  Around NYC or any of the northern cities there might be a little of it.

Sold my car on offerup its a website like craigslist.?

So i sold my awesome car, it had absolutely no problems however i needed the money to down grade to a cheaper more cost effective vehicle.

so i put it up for sale and sold it on friday, the buyer came, saw the car for about an hour asked a lot of questions, looked inside and outside of the car, went for a test drive, then checked the car again.

I knew he wasn't going to find anything wrong with the car BECAUSE IT WAS MY CAR i took care of it, nothing was wrong everything was great.. i even have papers of the dealership with all the standard repairs and such, nothing major...

Anyways 3 days pass and the buyer messages me that the car is leaking oil, and the it throws black smoke... and i'm like WTF????

anyways... he says he wants to take me to court and that the paper we both agree to sign (releasing me (the seller) from any responsibility after the transaction was made, amount and date the car was purchased) does not hold in court.

Can this guy seriously return my car all destroyed? it was a BMW 2007 so i'm sure this guy was doing some street racing or some crap.

i live in California.

Serious drag racing car using automatic transmission?

I have heard from the guys who know their stuff that actually automatic transmission are better than a manual trans in a drag race. Not only for the super fast ones either. Just as long as the tranny is built right.
Anyone know any website I can go to, to learn more about how to and why a automatic transmission is better. Seen cars that are super fast (8 sec 1/4 miles muscle cars AND STILL street legal). Some imports too, so it is true about the auto trans being good. Sure might not be as fun, but might be safer to prevent damaging your build if you can't shift correctly (big costly mistake)

Would a auto trans, be good with a serious performace track/circuit racer or even a drifting car?

What should I look for when I buy a used sports car?

The other answers are generally good , but don’t assume the seller of a sports car is too dumb or too broke to replace worn out tires or brakes with the RIGHT tires and brakes, etc, and thus telegraph to knowledgeable buyers that the car has been abused.Other than getting the car thoroughly inspected, it REALLY helps if you can find out who owned it previously, how old they were, etc. if they had teenaged boy driver in their house etc.The VAST MAJORITY of sports cars that are for sale HAVE NOT BEEN ABUSED at all. Most of the people who can afford to buy them new are responsible older adults, and drive them just like they would drive any other car. The number of people who indulge in street racing, or take their cars to a race track , other than uncivilized young men, is minuscule in relation to the number of sports cars sold.I keep up with my local car scene, and know at least a dozen people who own SPORTY cars, such as Mustangs and Camaro’s. Out of the dozen, only ONE has ever been even slightly abused, because the owner has a teenage son who is allowed to drive the car occasionally. I know a few people who own REAL sports cars, such as Corvette’s or Vipers or Porsche’s and while they may floor the pedal once in a while, they take EXCELLENT care of their expensive toys.
