I Live In Apartment Bulinding That Might Possibly Be Getting Condemend

Mold growing in my apartment due to flooding in carpet?

I moved into my apartment in March of 06 and in June the carpets started to get flooded with water. Needless to say there was damage to the carpet and now their is mold growing on the carpet and walls. I have sent letters to the Management and they have had guys come out and clean the carpet and paint the walls without treating the problem. Also Their seems to be black mold growing in the bathroom. Their are holes in the walls where spiders and ants are comming thru. Also I didnt see this before. But there is black mold behind the toilet bowl. Looks like maintenance tried to cover up alot of damage in the apartment with paint and some wood. In the bathroom They painted on the walls so paint is comming off due to the humidity in the bathroom. and the apartments around me are completely abandoned. because of sever damage. Now I want to get out of my lease immediately I have a lawyer but I want to have someone come out and inspect the apartment. Who should I get in contact wit

Lying to apartment complex about dog breed?

Hello! We have a friendly pitbull mix who is an weekly socialization and behavior training class. We recently got him from our friend who didn't have enough time to take care of him. When she first got him, she had the vet put his breed down as Boxer Mix. We are now moving into an apartment complex where they have several breed restrictions (Pitbull, American Bull Dog, Doberman, German Shepherd, etc.) except Boxer. But here's the problem. We are going to sign the lease tomorrow morning and move in. The apartment is asking for first months rent, security deposit, etc. along with the dogs paperwork and a picture of him. I was not expecting for them to ask for a picture of the dog. While his paperwork does say he is a Boxer Mix he looks more pit than boxer. Has anyone been in a similar situation or has worked an apartment complex that has had experience in this? I guess I could give them a picture offline of a boxer mix who looks similar to my dog. I will do what I have to do.

**Please don't bother responding with someone along the lines: "You WILL get caught. People are NOT blind. Find a place that accepts pits. GRRRRR." Seriously, I don't want to hear it. I am willing to move into a house for rent but there are none available in my area. And there is no apartment/management place that accepts pits in my area. So if you feel like that or any sort of negative way about pits, gtfo.

How to report a condemned house?

A friend of mine lives in a condemned house. There's no gas, no running water and the kitchen and bathroom are beyond repairt. Also there's mold growing out of the vents and they have a huge racoon living in the attic. The electricity works but the electrical wiring isn't proper and they're running like 5 heaters, a computer and 3 TV's off of it, not to mention lamps.

I'm prepared to help my friend find other housing, if come and stay with me if they please, but it's not healthy for them to stay in that house. They have to go outside to use the bathroom & have to buy water or go to a friends house to bathe their are rodents everywhere and some of the windows are boarded up and can't be opened for ventilation. Would it be wrong for me to report it and get them put out of their house? How do I report it I live in Chicago.

What does it mean when a house is condemned?

It can mean a variety of things, but in general use it is because for reasons set by the local jurisdiction it is deemed to be unfit for human habitation. Now, for some particulars: homes of private individuals or apartment buildings or other structures can be condemned in some places for such things as lack of sanitation, including water turn-off, use by drug addicts, lack of cleanliness, use for prostitution, or other so-called “nuisance” conditions, structural defects including hurricane, tornado, fire, and flood damage, and of course the governmental taking by eminent domain for an over-riding public purpose such as necessary roads and bridges and rail lines. Condemnation has been misused in some instances, and is often the subject of legal battles.
