I Live In La And Worked Out Of Little Rock Ar Do I Have To Pay Ar Taxes

Which is better, living in Miami or Los Angeles, and why?

I have lived in both places: Miami in the early 2000’s (and South Florida in general for a total of 14 years) and am now in the LA area, where I have been for a year. Personally, I find LA a FAR better place to live than Miami, for these reasons:-There is much more to do here nature-wise. There are mountains as well as beaches. There is zero “terrain” in Miami, so to speak.-Believe it or not, I find people far more friendly in the LA area than I ever did in Miami. As a native midwesterner, I have the bar set pretty high in terms of what I consider “friendly.”-There is nowhere near as large of a language barrier out here in LA. I do speak Spanish as I chose to learn and study it. However, in Miami it’s practically required in a lot of areas. It’s frustrating because many (though certainly not all) of the people living in Miami know next to zero English, or claim to, and expect everyone to speak Spanish. Some get quite rude about it.-Traffic is bad in both places, rude drivers exist in both places, but the drivers in Miami are worse than in LA on any given day, at any given moment; I’m convinced.-Did I mention the people in Miami are beyond rude??? Can’t stress that enough. I had no idea so many a-holes existed in this world until I lived, went to school, and worked there.-LA is expensive, but the salaries appear to be a better match for cost of living here vs in Miami, where salaries tend to be on the low end. There is no state income tax there, which is helpful, but it still seems to be a mismatch.-Miami is not nearly as diverse as people (myself included when I first moved there) seems to think it is. Yes, there are pockets of different cultures around, but the most prevailing one is that of Latin America, by far. YES, I understand that there are differences within the countries of Latin America, but if you aren’t a social justice warrior, you’ll understand what I mean here. LA, on the other hand, is diverse, diverse, diverse!-LA has more of a sense of seasons, climate-wise, and a lot less rain. It’s not as humid as Miami. Truth be told, though, I do prefer Miami’s climate to that of LA, but I seem to be in the minority as far as that goes.

doesn't hurt to have an out of date road atlas on the desk

I want to drive to every state capital in the lower 48 states starting from and ending in Topeka Kansas. What?

You are describing what is commonly know as the "Traveling Salesman Problem" and and is one of the most intensively studied and complex problems in optimization. Mathematicians, governments, and corporations have spent millions of dollars and hours trying to develop and algorithm to solve the problem. TSP is used in planning, logistics, the manufacture of microchips, and DNA sequencing. It's going to cost you a lot more than 10 points. People have spent their whole lives trying to find an optimal solution. You are not going to find a solution on Yahoo Answers because the solution's computing time raises exponentially with every additional destination, that's 2 to the 48th power times the time to do a single computation. It will take you more than the 3 months of your trip to figure it out.

What are the pros and cons of living in Las Vegas, Nevada, coming from Virginia?

Pros:Lots of nightlife - If you want to party (even on a Tuesday) Vegas is the place for you.Great deal of racial tolerance - Nevada used to be the “Mississippi of the West.” Las Vegas is the most racially tolerant area in the state and one of the most in the nation,IMHO.300+ days a year of sun - You can do outside things for most of the year. Very little rain and snow is a rarity.Plenty of housing - In fact, the area is overbuilt. If you want a place to stay, you’ll find one in Las Vegas.Taxes are low - No state tax, no city or county taxes and sales tax isn’t that high.Cons:Las Vegas is not for people with problems - It allows for you to drink, gamble or get high 24–7. If you have any problems with these you CANNOT live here.It can be difficult to find employment - The people who live in the city are often jaded. They are suspicious of people who recently move there and finding suitable employment (especially if you are not a professional) can be very difficult. The employment that you do find can be low-paying and short-term.It can be an ugly place to live - People often lose everything due to gambling and drug addiction. Under-employment and poverty are rife. Substance abuse isn’t an unknown quantity. And the number of homeless people seems to rise every year. Crime is also a serious concern. You’ll spend a lot of time in your car - Much of your day, in fact. Plan on leaving at least 1/2 hour early to get places. BTW, you NEED a car to live there. There’s not much “there” there - Besides the gaming, drinking and perhaps shopping, there’s not much happening in Las Vegas. The cultural events are better now than in the past, but they are still very limited. There’s not much to do in the city itself (unless you are a golfer). And despite the sunshine there are surprisingly few sporting events in the city in an overall year. Las Vegas’ purpose was to provide housing for casino workers and later to provide housing for retirees. It hasn’t grown much beyond that.

Is the last name of Bell a Cherokee last name?

Why would you believe he is of a Cherokee tribe? The 1835 Cherokee Nation census is available online and there were no Cherokees with the surname "Bell" living in Alabama at that time period.

http://cherokeeremoval.org/ALABAMA.htm

The Cherokees were removed to Indian Territory between 1836 and 1839. The Old Settlers that had started moving west before Removal (starting around 1817) who settled in west central Arkansas eventually moved over to Indian Territory with those that came over on the Trail of Tears in the late 1830s. There were no Cherokee communities in Arkansas after that point, perhaps just a few scattered families or individuals married to non-Cherokee spouses.

The only way to shows he was "of" a Cherokee tribe is to find him listed as part of a Cherokee community or coming from a recognized Cherokee family that has recognized tribal affilation. This is done by standard genealogy. You'd have to post a bit more specific information in order to get more detailed responses to your query. His spouses name and info, along with childrens names, places of birth, any other know family can be quite helpful. The only way he could be Cherokee is if his family didn't show up on the 1835 Cherokee census because they had moved to Arkansas in the early 1830s, soon after his birth, and then they moved down to the Mt. Tabor community. There isn't enough to research this individual one way or the other. Sometimes it is better to drop down one generation below that you have solid information on and ask if people have documentation of the father's lineage. Good luck.
