First of all, it has to be a MoneyGram money order purchased from a WalMart store. Second, you need to have a valid government issued ID. If you meet those requirements, take the money order to your local Walmart financial/customer service desk to cash it. For a $3 fee it will be processed through Walmart’s check cashing system.

I purchased the money order at my bank that came from western union. My bank assisted me in obtain a refund. My bank had the serial number. Western union denied my refund because some one cashed it. How can I go by getting my money from the person who cashed my money order?
Lost moneygram money order?
I lost a money order yesterday...It's blank and the stub is still attached. I do however, have the receipt from walmart where I purchased it. I am wanting to file a claim with moneygram but it says something about having the receipt (stub) I was wondering if the original reciept would be enough proof of purchase or if I would actually have to have the stub? It was close to 400 dollars so this is kind of a big deal. I have tried to call but I just sit on the phone for 30 minutes.

can I fill in my name and cash it? the stub is attached still and there is no indication of who the purchaser was. is it somehow tied to the purchaser (like through the 11-digit number)? There is nothing written in the payee/sender fields.
What can I do about a lost money gram?
If money orders have been lost but have not been cashed, MoneyGram will issue a refund to purchasers of money orders, provided they can supply proper proof of purchase. The purchaser must obtain a MoneyGram Money Order claim card and submit a) the completed claim cardb) a copy of the money order receipt (stub) and c) a $12 processing fee to the address printed on the claim card. Most requests are processed in 30 days, but please allow up to 65 days for total processing and mail time. The processing fee will be deducted from refunds when a fee is not received. A photocopy will be provided if the money order has been cashed and a $12 processing fee has been received.
