Community service ideas for middle school?

just some advice...
i truly hope this essay is something that is coming from your heart, not just because of how you will be profiting from it. to write your essay, there can be millions of ideas, but the only way it will really make a difference is if you mean it. if you mean well, you will certainly receive the recognition or happiness you deserve. it looks like you've got as many ideas as you can, but now try and work on something actively, so that when you write this essay, you have something to back it up, you can speak from personal experience. let your inner emotions come out to show the world how much you mean. show the world that with the generation of tomorrow being in your hands, you will make use of it, and preserve it for your descendants.
please, i beg you, please do not think of this topic as something boring you must get done to make your resume look good. do this to prove to yourself and to others that you can take the responsibility and care that this mother earth of ours is so desperate for.

Is there a way to get 50 hours of community service in a week?

The short answer: yes.The long answer: yes, with hard work and some basic math skills.A week is seven days, but we should convert that to hours. 1 week = 168 hours. However, you probably want to sleep before doing so much work. Let’s say you sleep about 10 hours a day. 10 hours multiplied by 7 days is 70 hours of sleep. 168 hours awake minus 70 hours sleeping equals 98 hours for community service time. Divide 98 hours by 7 days and you get 14 hours to do community service a day. That’s more than enough time for 50 hours. Now, you may be thinking, “No way am I using up my weekends!” Well, have I got the solution for you!50 hours divided by 5 weekdays equals 10 hours a day.You can find opportunities to volunteer at these sites:Heal the Bay - Ocean & Watershed Protection in Los Angeles CountyHomepage Currenthttps://www.metowe.com/

What are some good fundraising ideas for my school?

Umbrella Service – If you live in Seattle this idea may be for you! A local Boy Scout troupe got permission from the local grocery store to stand at the entrance and walk people to their cars with umbrellas on a rainy weekend. People really appreciated the considerate gesture and the troupe made some pretty decent money. I think it is always important for young people to provide a service rather than to just ask for money, don’t you?

Family Movie Night – Show a video indoors or consider renting an outdoor movie screen. Charge a small fee to attend, and sell drinks and popcorn, too. You could add a few jars for additional donations. If you have a group of outgoing kids, you could put on a small dinner theatre or evening of humorous skits. Serve spaghetti and Italian bread. There is a good chance you could get the food donated. This works really well for church groups, if you have a recreation room to use.

Host a Basketball Tournament – This is great for a sports team . A local group raised over $500 dollars doing this and had a lot of fun, too! Each team paid $10 to get enter. One team had four generations on it! Most teams consisted of family members. Of course, you can sell hot dogs, chips, sodas and popcorn purchased at your local discount retailer.

Rent-A-Kid – Have the kids do appropriate chores for people, such as, cutting lawns, washing windows, babysitting, raking leaves, folding or ironing clothes. (Okay, you know, all the things they don’t do at home!) A group that did this know a lady who was moving and the kids packed and wrapped all of her china and crystal. She was so appreciative she made a very nice donation!

Flocking – This is so much fun! People purchase “insurance”, say for $40 or you can take a chance and have a “flock” of flamingos (or any other bird) land on your yard. Without insurance you have to pay to have them removed. It’s good to do this within a “band family” or church group that really knows each other. It can become a great tradition over the years.

I have court-ordered community service, but don't know where to volunteer!?

That's some outstanding advice there, Poppygoo... Tell that to your own PO and see what happens next...

Our department tells probationers the same thing: do the community service work at any non-profit organization you want... We also provide a list of about 40-50 agencies that we know that provide community service, although the probationer is not bound to use any of those agencies...they're just suggestions... I'm guessing your PO doesn't have such a list, though, since it sounds like they normally used your city's DPW until a few idiots ruined it for everyone...

I tell the folks that I supervise that they can work for anything owned by the city, county, or state: parks departments, fire departments, police departments, etc... Libraries are good options... Goodwill Industries has a few locations in my area, and they are very popular places to work because they are open for many hours each day, and they don't care (around here, anyway) if you work 2 hours a day or 8 hours a day... Churches are also popular places to work, although you might want to clear that through your PO first, since not all departments may allow community service work to be done for religious organizations...

Some other agencies that we list that might be in your area:

--Habitat for Humanity
--Nursing homes (make sure it's a non-profit one, though, because not all of them are)
--American Legion or similar organizations (again, make sure they are non-profit first)
--Food banks
--Homeless shelters / kitchens
--City governments--sometimes our city uses community service workers to help clean offices/hallways/restrooms or move office furniture or file papers or destroy papers or any other special projects they may have going on at any given time in any particular department...
--Your Probation Department--occasionally, we have special projects that we use community service workers for...

I hope that gives you some ideas... Good luck to you!
