I Need A Home Computer Is Windows Vista A Good Choice Or Is There Something Better

Windows 8, Windows 7, or Windows Vista? Which is better?

Windows 8 is the better of the 3 and if you don't like the touch screen interface it has a option that allows you to change to the windows 7 interface. And if your laptop uses the new AMD APU's,windows 8 supports that cpu architecture so you will get a better performance boost out of that cpu than if you were using a different windows OS , also windows 8 uses less RAM than the other two so your laptop will run faster

Which is better...Windows Vista Home Basic or Windows XP?

I still like XP over Vista.
I tried to do something that involved changing a game slightly and all i had to do was edit a notepad created configuration file.
Simple huh?
XP did it without bitching and moaning woohoo, new mod.
Vista wouldnt let me do it at all.
A simple thing like editing a notepad file? Are you kidding me?
What a great security feature huh?
I wasnt a happy chappy.
Vista looks better than XP but is a RAM hog. Your 2GB would be better utilised in XP.
If you want speed, functionality and ease of use choose XP.
If you want a funky, fancy looking, bug riddled OS that uses more ram (leaving less for the programs you install) Choose Vista.

Anyone have advice for buying this computer?

I am thinking of buying a Sony Viao FZ series laptop that has 2 gigs of ram and a NVidia 8400 GT graphics gpu.

I am into gaming but I don't have enough money to get one of those expensive alienware computers. Is this a powerful gaming pc or is there something better for the same price.

Please, nothing much more expensive if you have another computer in mind.

Is Windows XP faster than Windows Vista?

It depends on the computer processor and the memory size in your computer as well as the vista and XP category
Vista has variety of choices

Vista Basic edition 32 bit .... smaller in size and requires
lesser requirements, faster

Vista 64 bit edition ..... medium size, requires
medium PC hardware specs
can be fast or slow depending
on old pc or new pc processor
and the memory size

Vista Enterprise Edition ...... large size, requires higher
hardware requirements for
additional enterprise built in
multi-user corporate
environment capable of multi-
user/ multi-task

as for XP it depends on the category too, according to Thoo

Is using Windows 7 in 2018 still a good idea?

Two possibilities:Assuming your PC/laptop has a 6th generation processor or lower. In this case, it is mostly a matter of taste. I like Windows 7. Because it is almost junkfree and not confusing. It is possible that some softwares require Windows 10. But personally I see that a distant possibility.Assuming your PC/laptop has a 7th generation processor or higher. You have to use Windows 10. Because Intel 7th and 8th generation processors doesn’t have drivers for Windows 7.
