I Need A List Of Online Dog Grooming Schools Under $300.00

Dog Grooming School?

I have not been, but I employ a groomer who HAS been through the school.

First- I'm not sure there are any college courses for it.
Second- I would attend classes rather than doing it online- I would never hire a groomer (or knowingly take my dog to a groomer) that learned on the web- there is MUCH to be said here for hands on experience- the school here in our area (as I'm sure they all do) have clients that bring in the dogs for "practice"- and have instructors on hand to make sure things are done right- hands on experience in this venue is invaluable. I've noticed things my groomer is doing and saying "Cool- now that makes sense"- even though my husband grooms our 4 standard poodles- he could learn a lot from her!

Accredited online dog grooming schools?

I m looking into dog grooming schools in my area, and there are no actual established schools, only online schools that have you shadowing an accredited groomer. Does anybody know the best online dog grooming school and their experience with it? Also is there any education on cat and small animal grooming? Thanks in advance!

Anyone do online dog grooming school?

i'm thinking of doing this but have some concerns. is it worth it? i can't afford to pay thousands and i already groom dogs. i just don't know all the tricks and secrets and i certainly don't feel i can offer as much as a reg dog groomer. i need to bring in extra cash with kids at home and working husband, plus i think i would enjoy this.

Has anyone done an online dog grooming school?

I've heard of them before (as well as online dog training schools). To my knowledge you learn all of the fundamentals (aka - bookwork) in your "class" on-line but then you are required to do a hands-on unpaid practicum/internship with a professional in your area.

For grooming I'm assuming you'd learn about breed grooming "standards" for each breed, the different types of coats, grooming tools and their specific uses, common ingredients in care products (as well as their uses), etc as part of your on-line course. This will all be reinforced in your in-person practicum/internship experience after you've completed the coursework.

ADD: I think you'd learn a lot more, however, if you just went to go work for a local groomer (or pet store) as a grooming assistant. Start out as a dog washer and work your way up :)

Online degrees in dog grooming? ?

There's really no point in getting a grooming degree online.
You NEED hands on experience with dog grooming. How can you get graded on your performance by an online course?
How can you get someone to help you if you are having trouble through an online course, people need to be there!
You get no experience this way either. I sincerely suggest going to a real school.

Next time I go to the groomers I'm going to make sure they have a real degree >.<

Is dog grooming school hard?

The grooming school I went to had herds of show people of every breed under the sun that brought their dogs to us for grooming. Write the contract yourself, include waivers for student mishaps, include proof of vaccinations for the dogs, but give it up on holding owners responsible for bites. That's part of the job, and a risk you just have to take. The real world has more dogs that snap than dogs that just love a haircut and brushing, so instead of refusing hard cases, welcome them as more lessons for students to introduce them to how to handle this as well as just trimming and nail painting. Have the students sign a waiver upon enrollment stating that THEY will not hold the school responsible for bites etc. You will have a better variety of breeds if you open up to show and/or pure bred breeders for the pure bred dogs,,,,and open up to 'hard cases' for practical learning, and mixed breed grooming. Think about it,,,,,alot of the dogs that are hard to do are refused, or overcharged by groomers. They will flock to you and won't mind a mess up every now and then to get half priced grooming for their snapper.

I am not in the US but I went to grooming school in Canada called Pets Beautiful School of Styling.

Dogs are wriggly creatures. Especially when they're covered in slippery foam. And if you have a pair of scissors, or nail clippers in your hand... that hand better be as steady as a surgeon's. This is all experience that comes from going to a training class and actually doing it. No amount of "online" lessons are going to prepare you for it. Never mind that you have a dog ready, watch the lesson and try to clip his toes exactly like the computer is telling you to. No one is going to be around to advise if something unexpected happens. If you're planning to become a dog groomer, I suggest you go about it the old-fashioned way. The internet is good for tips.

No matter what you choose, make sure to get the name out there! Create social media pages for your grooming business including Facebook and Google+ along with a website. Hand out products with your company name and logo on them so that people become familiar with your business and brand. I often see groomers sending home their dogs with bandannas around their necks or perhaps a nice little treat bag. Whatever you choose, make sure you put your company name and logo front and center. Here are some good items to choose from: http://www.motivators.com/Promot...And if you need more help on how to promote your new business, check out this guide: Picking Promo Products for Pets & Pet ParentsAs both a dog-lover and marketing specialist, please let me know how I might be able to help you promote your business :)
