I Need An Ict Technician

ICT Technician in the RAF?

Have you been to your local AFCO?
I have been down and recently passed my Selection Test to become an ICT Technician. You will get a lot of information from the RAF website aswell: http://www.raf.mod.uk/careers/jobs/ictspecialist.cfm

The link maybe useful. After one year as an NCO you can expect a promotion so that new recruits will then become lowest ranks, although you need to try and gain promotion and you can find yourself going up the ranks fast. With a few tests you can become an officer as long as you show that your a fit to be one, If you have a family you can ask about being kept close to home or the wife can come and live on base in a house which is cheap to rent, You can also be expected to go on tour within first year for up to 6 months at a time

Qualifications Needed for ICT Technician?

I leave year 11 next year and was curious of the qualification needed to be one, would be preferably a school environment.

Few options i have looked into (College)
IT Practitioners BTEC National Diploma
Which would then lead onto a Higher National Diploma, which could be topped up to a BSc with another year study.
I could also take systems, install, maintaining and networking part time if i wish.

Other option would be stay on at 6th form, which they I would prob take a few of the following subjects.
ICT, History, Politics and Maths

Which one would most benefit getting a job in this field, gaining a ICT A-Level at 6th form and having more academic qualifications or going college and taking more vocational courses which would help me get an understanding of computing and systems support etc.

Any other qualifications which i may need or look into?
Also to add..I'm working at the moment with mainly predicted B's, with the occasional C and Applied ICT Double being A*

ICT Technician in School - Should I?

From what I observed (I was an IT student in a Polytechnic), the job of a technician is fairly simple.

This is what they do:

- Maintain order in computer lab
- Shut down all the PCs at the end of the day
- Loan equipments to students (laptops, PDAs, mobile phones, etc)
- Load a new rim of printing paper when the printer runs out of paper
- Stand in as an invigilator during exam period
- Refusing to hear any of students request to extend the lab's opening hours

And my most favourite part of an IT Technician have got to be when they shout, "Lab's closing!!!! Go Home!".

P.S. This is based purely on my observation. I can't stand the IT Technicians in my Polytechnic, so yes, I might be slighty bias in my observation. But just slightly.

IT Technician. Is it a good job?

There is no substitute for experience.

Even if you are working on a computer for someone that has absolutely no idea what they are doing, it will be obvious to them if you don't know what you're doing.

When you have a problem with your computer do you fix it yourself, or do you call someone for help?
How long will you sit there trying to solve a problem before you give up, or before you ask for help?
Have you ever spent more than an hour trying to fix a problem?

Most importantly, and this is speaking from experience, do you really want to deal with the users?
When it comes down to it, it's not about the computers, it's about the people who own/use the computers.
If you don't have what it takes to deal with the owners of the computers, you won't be able to help them. On that note I would highly recommend that you take at-least basic psychology.
Oh and so you know, if they don't like you, for any reason, they won't be a repeat customer.

It is better to have a job that you hate, then to start hating your hobby because it has become your job.

The Idea of being "self employed" is ridiculous because you can't work for yourself.
You will always be working for clients and they will expect you to be available at their convenience, not yours.

The IT industry is not like other "service based" jobs. Businesses rely on technology to function. If you are responsible for making sure it works then it will always be "your fault" when it doesn't.

What qualifications do I need to become a ICT Technician for the RAF?

I believe the best people to talk to would be the careers office, find your nearest careers office and talk to them. This just in case no one has answered your question.

What do i need to become a computer technician?

A+ is a good starting point. You'll need lots of work experience in a wide variety of systems if you want to be a (good) technician though. You could do a Modern apprenticeship. You'd work, get qualifications and learn on the job. It'd be funded partly by government and partly by the employer. If you're good, they might offer you a job after the apprenticeship is over. Ask at the jobcentre. MCPs are ok, but don't get stuck in a MS rut! Last I checked, A+ counted towards the higher MS qualifications (MCSA, etc) anyway. Don't get too stuck on being "a technician" though. It's not terribly well paid. Aim higher. Stop off at technician on the way. ;) Companies will favour whatever they need - If they use MS stuff, they'll want XP, office, windows server, exchange, IIS... or they may not want MS stuff at all! They might want cisco, novell, linux, unix, mac... You could stay in college or uni, but it doesn't suit everyone. It didn't suit me at the time, so I took the apprentice route.

Password for lenovo e425 ict technician password 2011?

Your friend is jocking you... He doesn't know the "technician password" to your laptop. You can try cracking it with a Windows hack but good luck not crashing your system trying to do it..

Don't judge me -- get your own damn laptop...

What is the ICT-Technician Password for laptops?

Only your school would know that.  Each school's ICT tech would have their own passwords.  Your guess would probably be better than anyone in an online forum.

Drives like PLC, SCADA, speed controllers design etc must be known.5.Power electronics:Designing and fabricating power electronic circuits.6. Renewable energy fundamentals:Learn solar photovoltaic and get as much as hand on experience you can get in this area.7.Microcontrollers and Programming languages :8051, ARM, AVR, PIC etc fundamentals and programming is a must along with sufficient knowledge of Digital electronics and any one programming language preferably C/C++/JAVA.8.
