I want to get into anime, a friend tried to get me into it, but failed, any ideas?
depends what your into you obviouslty like the more old school anime. I have to say Death Note is awesome! its worth giving it a try Spirited Away is a nice film its one of the only anime films ive manged to get my friend to watch Naruto is okay the first 20 episodes are rather boring but then i have seen them loads and loads of times!!! (like 7 after that you get bord) I never liked Saloir moon it was repetative in a sence but then you could argue that for a few others Special A is a nice high school anime where the students i swear are super humans! the competitions they have are like o.O!!! Fruits Basket is a lovably school anime! its one of my most favorite ( its rather hard to find this in english... i gave up trying to find it in english) Ouran High School Host Club - Another great school anime, the twins are so :D EEE!! Bleach - i never got into this but it looks awesome Full metal Alchemist - is a nice anime to watch its interesting my favorite episodes are the ones when his a kid because its just like GO GO Ed and Al! Shugo Chara! - This is rather preppy and its random in a sence rahter predicatable once you hear my own heart UNLOCK! (though it gets adictive) ill give you the top 5 voted on a anime review site :D 1. Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann 2. Rurouni Kenshin: Tsuiokuhen 3. Aria the Origination 4. Well I have plenty of anime I´ve seen .Here are some of the most I liked! Enjoy! ^_^ Air - It´s funny and also cute 12 episodes Bottle Fairy - It isn´t the greatest anime but it is good 12 episodes Chrno Crusade – It´s about some exorcism and a little romance but still very funny 26 episodes ef A Tale of Memories - It´s new and it is interesting as well as cute 12 episodes Fruits Basket - It is not new but it is reaaaally good 26 episodes Gravitation - It´s shonen-ai but it´s good 12 episodes Kanon - It´s harem and I like it pretty much, is interesting and have some fantasy 26 episodes Loveless - Also shonen-ai but it´s good 12 episodes Matantei Loki Ragnarok - It may not be very new as well as the others but still very good and mistery 26 episodes Myself Yourself – It´s a new anime and it´s cute, good 13 episodes Ouran High School Club - I LOOOVE THIS! Really funny and romantic 26 episodes Pita - Ten - It may be old but still cute and funny it´s maho shojo 26 episodes Princess Princess - It´s funny and may have just a little of shonen-ai 12 episodes Romeo x Juliet - It´s new and it´s obviously romantic with a bit of fantasy 26 epidoes Shinigami no Ballad - Maybe nmot the best anime ever but still it is cute and short 6 episodes Shugo Chara! - I LOOOOVE EVEN MORE THIS! It´s new that´s why there are only 19 or 20 episodes subbed out of 51, they are coming out so we will have to wait T_T but reaalaally good if you like maho shojo Sola - Also new and it´s interesting and has fantasy 13 episodes Spiral - It´s about mistery 25 episodes Sukisyo - Also shonen-ai but it´s cute 12 episodes Utawarerumono – It´s shonen and talks about war but it´s funny and have some action 26 episodes Zero no Tsukaima - It´s funny and talks about magic it has two seasons each one of 13 episodes

So based on the series you've listed I can give you some really good ones.
