I Need Guidon Bearer Help

Help with JROTC (Guidon Bearer)?

I am in Army JROTC and I was the Guidon Bearer for Delta Company, I was on crutches for two days and only have 10 minutes of being taught before so I don't remember what I am supposed to do. Because of that I immediately got moved to alternate.

What info do you have on the drill/responsibilities of the Guidon Bearer? Thank you in advance.

What is the Guidon Bearer in the JROTC ?

The guidon is the flag with the company's identifier on it. The guidon bearer is the person that carries it. The rest of the company follows and maintains their position on it. The bearer's responsibility is to maintain proper military bearing while carrying the guidon so the rest of the company can march in a correct formation.

How to become the guidon bearer in Army BCT?

Hello, I'm a 17 year old high school senior and I leave for Army Basic training next month to Ft. Sill Oklahoma. Joining the Army has been something I wanted to do for a while and I honestly can't wait to leave for BCT, but there's still some things I'd like to get some feedback on before I go. One of things is how to become the guidon bearer while in BCT. I did a little bit of research and I know that to be the guidon bearer you have to show your Drill Sergeants that you are pretty dedicated in the first part of training, but I know reading stuff off random websites only give you so much information. Being the guidon bearer is something I think would be really cool thing to do while in Basic and I was wondering if anyone out there could give me some advice on how to make that happen.

I know you guys are tired of getting questions from guys still in DEP, especially ones about random stuff like this, but I thought I'd give it a shot. If anyone could give me some feedback on it I would be very grateful.

Thank you.

Can a guidon bearer carry the guidon unfurled while walking alone or in a group which is not a formation?

I am a hard azz MF and would not say a thing to them for carrying a unit flag unless he was holding it like a spear on the attack..

I forgot the guidon!?

I'm the guidon bearer and today after we got released I forgot to put it away. Everyone has already left the company. What should I do tomorrow when I go to get it? I know im gonna probably get fed up for it, but whats gonna happen?

Is a being a guidon bearer a low ranking position in a squadron.?

Yup, it's an honor. It means you look the part of the perfect soldier in the commanders eyes. So take the job with pride. Because no rag bag would be up in front of the Battalion or Squadron holding it.

Who carry the guidon?

I understand that a Platoon Guide would carry the guidon for the platoon during training and that would be a sergeant. So who would carry the guidon for a company and who would for a battalion? Does the rank matters? Does it have to be an enlisted and not a commission officer?

What is the person called that carries the flag for a flight or platoon?
