I Need Help Finding Acting Carrer Information .

Help with pursuing an acting career?

Well you need to start with a natural talent and true passion for acting. Then you need to start gaining experience and training. It takes years to acquire the necessary experience and training. As you get older, it only gets harder to break into the industry. You will need a lot more than a few exercises to prepare. You should enroll in acting classes, school plays, community theater, workshops, coaches, etc. Once you lean enough about acting and the industry you will need to move somewhere that is centered around acting. If you want to act on TV and movies you should move to Southern California. Almost every major movie and TV show is casted there. You should know that even if you halve a ton of experience and move to California, there is absolutely no guarantee you will ever make it in the industry. Saying so, you will also need to start studying for a fall back career. So if acting doesn't work out you have something to go to. You also might want to consider studying acting and film in college. Then you'll need to find an agent, which also means getting professional photos taken. At some point you should try to get into a Union. Once you have an agent, they will start sending you on auditions. Then it is up to you to book jobs. The industry is super competitive and you have to be dedicated to it. As of now, you should focus on gaining experience and doing more research about specific aspects of the industry. I pretty much gave you acting in a nutshell. There are so many other aspects of acting. Remember this is a super risky career path! You can't just decide to be an actress and expect to be in movies and TV shows. My cousin has been in the industry since he was 6 and he hasn't been on a TV show or movie. He's done commercials and stuff, but that was after years of experience. Good luck :)

Starting a acting career with no experience...Help?

Start taking dance/acting/singing classes
act in either community/school/regional/student produced projects.
Work on looking for an agent in your closest city.
Hope for the best.

If you are a minor, you need your parents for this. They need to be willing to sacrifice to work on giving you a successful career. Be realistic with what type of work you want to do. Movie extras and local commercials are your best bet for work. You need to have a serious talk with your parents and let them know how much you really want to act.

you need three on point things to really make it at acting

1. Marketability- does the teen acting industry need someone like you? Could an agent make money off of you?
2. A confident, mature, and willing personality. Would you do anything the role required you to do?
3. Actual talent. - If your family or friends have told you about your great acting ability, don't get a swelled head.

The harsh reality is the industry is SATURATED. Meaning most actors are going without work. The industry can't take any more. Be realistic with what type of acting you want to do. Why do you want to be an actor? Very often teens ages 12-16 go through a phase where acting seems like a very appealing career. Truth is many actors go for months without work with little to nothing in their bank accounts.

The good news is anything can happen and you may really have what it takes! Take classes, perform in plays, and truly discover why you like acting. Keep your grades up and possibly pursue acting in college. Keep an open mind about acting. Good Luck and have FUN with it!

A career in voice acting?

I'm a working voice actor giving you the REAL DEAL!

I have a bass/baritone voice and it keeps me busy.

Voice Acting is one of the HARDEST forms of acting to get into because your face and body is not seen so you have to be able to effectively convey emotions in your reading. It's more than just reading off of the page. You can be a Robert De Niro on camera, but it does NOT mean that your acting will translate with just your voice.

Good voiceover training consists of proper vocal exercises and warmup, proper diction in American standard English, breaking down a VO script into phrases and being able to analyze it, and being able to make that script come to life with your imagination and not just some regular read, and proper mic technique. Improv is also highly recommended as well for you want to be able to loosen up and use your imagination when you're in that isolation chamber (recording booth). When you're recording for the producers, you'll be asked to do multiple takes and say a line or script differently. Improv helps with that!

Getting into SERIOUS voice over acting is a hefty investment. Largely because you have to invest hundreds even thousands of dollars in putting together a demo reel that shows your range as a voice actor. There are different types of voiceovers. Commercials are the biggest chunk. Then there are promo, narrative, foreign language, audiobook, and animation. In animation, you want to create original characters, NOT imitations of Bart Simpson, etc.

Once you have a demo done, you mail them out to Voice Over Agents. They're the ones who get you auditions.

If I had to recommend a book, I think The Art of Voice Acting, 3rd edition by James R. Alburger is a good place to start. He also gives recommendations for other Voiceover resources as well.

Here's a great Voice Acting resource site:

Is MyActingAgent.com a good website to find an acting career because i found what i want but want...?

Plain and simple, no. We know this because many of us do or have worked in the business, there are so many scammers out there it's ridiculous. If anything the site you mentioned is regurgitated info. from other sites that are legit or it could be shady, who knows? I checked it out and some of the projects look familiar and some I've never heard of. Get training, get experience, and get an agent the old fashioned, tried and true way. No one on the web is going to hand you a career... if it seems to good to be true it is.

If you want to find a legitimate agent to represent you for commercials, TV & film go to Sag.org. Use the dropdown menu on the right labeled 'resources' and choose 'agent information'. On the next screen, on the left choose 'Find a SAG franchised agent' and follow the directions. You can look up agents all over the US, but there are higher concentrations where the work is (Los Angeles, NY, IL, FL, GA etc.)

Then you can send them your headshot, resume, and a cover letter stating that you are seeking representation and wait to see if they call you in for an interview.

Once you have an agent, they will get you the auditions, but until then you can check out actorsaccess.com. You can also see if your state has a film alliance. Sometimes they post audition information for projects filming locally. For theatre, you can go to backstage.com or http://www.actorsequity.org/castingcall/... If you find the audition on the Equity site, you still may be able to go, as long as their not taking appointments from equity actor's only :-) On backstage.com you have to pay to get all of the info, but the initial search is free and you may be able to see enough info to find out the rest on your own without paying.

Do not pay anyone like John Robert Powers anything. They make false statements and use high pressure sales tactics to get people to give up their money for glorified classes... don't do it.

Good luck

Will acting classes/schools help you find job?

I am currently looking for some acting classes. Would it be wrong of me to expect a class or school to assist with looking for work?

Do you really need a big degree or vast number of classes to become an actor?
