I Need Help Staring My Rap Career Any Tips

Is 30 too old to start a music career?

The same way someone in their 20’s or teens would with some significant adjustments. You go through all the same steps, the first being get really good at your instrument. You find your sound and who you are as an artist. You spend time playing shows, honing your chops in the studio and networking. You write great music (or get very good at covering it). You learn about the business. You get a professional website and business cards.Next you get clear on your goals. Do you want to be a session musician? A Songwriter for other artists? A solo act? Do you want to be in a band? Sell your own recordings? You get really good at your instrument, hyper organized, you show up on time for everything (15 minutes early is on time, on the dot is late).Rinse. Repeat. Now the hard part: dealing with people who tell you that you are too old to get started. They are only saying that because they feel they are too old and the last thing they want is someone like yourself having a music career to prove them wrong. So you educate them. In the year 2016, telling someone they can’t have a career in their chosen field because of a birthday is unacceptable. So you tell them that to their face and let them know they should never, ever say that to someone. It’s rude. (this will be a very real part of your experience if you are getting started right now and to anyone on Quora tempted to write the same thing, beware of the virtual side eye I am sending your way). I am lucky I did not listen to those people or I would have not gotten my first record deal at the age of 30 or been featured on MTV “Buzzworthy” when I was 35.Now a reality check: Because you are getting started later, you have to work harder. You will put in longer hours and probably experience more doors slamming in your face. That’s not a bad thing. Shut doors make you appreciate the ones that open more.Start small and local. Make tangible goals for yourself everyday and accomplish them.Good luck.

Am I to Old to start a rap career at 35?

LoL!!! The answer is NO! You are not too old, but the journey could be a lot more difficult for you because of age. But, the truth is you can do it, have fun, and make that jump exciting for yourself! How? First you need to know that because of your age psychology you will have your own drawbacks because you think others will make an issue out of your age, but that's not true. Some people will, but most people won't as long as your music is 'DOPE'!On that subject of making dope music, you are going to have to believe in yourself wholeheartedly, no holding back on yourself! Also, you will need to be honest with yourself and accept constructive criticism. A lot of older artist fall off because they don't practice on their craft, therefore ending up sounding dated with their style(s). Don't let that be you!Due to your age you have a great amount of wisdom, therefore you will be able to get things done faster, easier, and more efficiently that most of your younger counterparts. Is it to late to start rapping at 18?

I have experience with other music and playing guitar but i want to become a really good rapper and possibly become professional or make a career out of it. since being involved in music is my dream and cant picture myself doing anything else.(i know it probably sounds like im doing it for the money and get rich but its not like that at all) i just want to make a living of something i love to do since i lost intrest in guitar i wanna start rapping.the problem is that im 18 years old and i feel its to late to learn, because i spent like 3 years learning guitar and people say i got really good in a quick amount of time. i feel like i could possibly do the same for rap if i really tried. im around people who rap so im sort of aware of how to make lines kind of click and connect and ive been messing around trying to freestyle for almost a month now but heres my first verse ever written:

sometimes i think to myself i dont got what it takes. fearing the futures enough, you can understand whats at stake and sweet success is something i might not ever taste. open your eyes so you can see the potential im letting it go to waste. its possible to go somewhere with this but i feel im making a mistake. should i keep my hopes up or am i wasting my time? am i reaching for the stars or aiming to damn high? running from fears while im chasing my dreams, outworn these worn out lyrics, thats what it seams, with no hesitation. you what its like to have to live up to the highest expectations? especially if your the first in the family who fall im stressin. dont judge thinkin im just some rich kid with no excuse for depression. cus ive been there and done that. i aint putting up no act rapping these facts, but will i get good enough to start runnin on these tracks?

i know its not good, please dont judge me. can someone please tell me what i need to do to get better and write better and how to improve quickly? i kinda got lazy towards the end since i couldnt come up with anymore ideas. i dont want anyone to sugar coat anything, but i also dont want anyone dissing saying its horrible without helping me out, but if it really is horrible then tell me to quit cus then its obviously to late to become good. i understand ill have to practice a lot but please tell me if its to late no matter how much i practice.

My boyfriends rapper career, and my insecurities...?

So my boyfriend has the utmost passion for rapping. And he is actually really good. I go to shows, i promote his material and I can't be anymore proud, I would never even ask him to stop doing something he loves so much. But recently he has started making music videos. They're about to make the third one..this one is pretty much where I don't have the security to just suck it up. They're going to have girls everywhere in lingerie, pulling him into bed catering to him and the two other artists in the video. I always felt like when you are with someone they're not supposed to see anyone else in such an intimate way, besides porn of course..that's different. It can be acting but just the thought of it kills me...also him and the guy that sings have been exchanging photos of the girls in the videos...with everything hanging out...he scrolled by when I was on his lap...it felt really weird for me to see...I really don't know what to do...how can I get past that part...there will always be girls..and these type of videos probably don't come rare...not in a rapper's career anyway..and should he get famous..the depth of what is killing me now...will get harder to deal with... It feels almost like cheating...and that feeling u get when ur on the biggest roller coaster and its climbing up the first big hill..you REALLY don't want to go over the hill..yet you're already on the ride you just want to get it over with...that's how I feel about this video =/ help?

How can I deal with it?
Will I ever be able to deal with it?

At what point in my rap career should I drop my debut mixtape?

Ok, so i’m a 16 year old producer, so take everything i say with a grain of salt; what do i know? I listened to your 3 of your tracks, Empire, Religion, and Cool Shit. I think you’re good, and have interesting things to say, which is more than most rappers have, especially at our age, but your writing could be improved. I noticed some ideas that you repeated, some lines that could’ve been more concise, some lazy lines, and some lines that were obvious and extraneous. Writing comes with time though, so that’ll get’ll better as you get older. I also think that your pronunciation of words could be a little better(This is mostly on Religion, Cool Shit is good), but I’m not a rapper, so I can’t really give any tips on that. I would look at Mick Jenkins(The Waters album, his other albums aren’t that good), you seem like you could rap/sing like him.Musically, it’s not my taste, it seems kind of cheesy and it’s not very creative to me; the sound you go with is all up to you though. Some of my favorite artists are Kendrick, J. Cole, Lupe, Chance, and Kanye, I don’t know if you have a similar taste. I also think you had some mixing issues on Religion, and your mic for Cool Shit seems watery. Now to answer your question: Yeah, you should drop a mixtape right now. Freshman mixtapes don’t really matter and you’ll get the experience of professionally releasing something, and you’ll have something to add to your rep sheet. My cousin wants to be a rapper/producer, and one of his biggest problems is that he doesn’t put stuff out; he always thinks his new stuff is better, and then gives up on the old stuff.Good luck on your future projects. I’d love to work with you sometime if you want, I don’t have anything released though; I’ve been producing as a hobby for only like 3 years or so.

How did T.I. end Lil Flips carrer ?

Idk. All I know is that Flip tried to beef with T.I. and well...as you can see, it didn't work out for him. 99 problems Lil Flip ain't one....damn right that would hurt Flip's street cred. He just got put down by the King in his own turf.
