I Need Help With College Work

I need to get help from some of my professors at college but I don't know how. How can I influence them and convince them to collaborate with me? What makes a professor to work with students?

Q: “I need to get help from some of my professors at college but I don't know how. How can I influence them and convince them to collaborate with me? What makes a professor to work with students?”The question is incomplete, so it is hard to give a direct and accurate answer. If you are a grad student, doing research with a supervisor and your ideas about that research, first discuss the matters with direct mentor/supervisor. If unrelated to present degree research work and there are some profs expert in that subject, contact them and set a meeting time, if they agree and can talk. Some profs are working part-time and some are preparing for a sabbatical leave, etc. You must consider all possibilities. If you are an undergrad (it seems to me you are undergrad), then there are special research courses/internship for undergrad students to do research and get credit. You need to find those spacial courses/programs (like, summer research jobs), register for them and contact the professor in charge of that research. You may get financial assistance from professional societies (ACS, NSF, USGS in USA, NSERC in Canada, etc.) for that research work. So, for the first step, I suggest you meeting vice-Chair (undergrad) of your department, discuss the matters with her. She is definitely the best source of guidance. You may need to write a brief proposal about your research plan. You don’t need influence anybody; academic and non-academic staff are there working for you. If you and other students leave the university, then all of them must circulate their resumes to get a job or run a private business. Most of professors accept undergrad students (senior, 3th and 4th year) in their labs, no need to convince them, they will be happy and actually need to include you to their teams. This may facilitate for your future in academia, joining that lab for graduate studies.

I need help on my school work?

can some one answer this for my school i cant get this
1.One cold, dark, and rainy night, a college student has a flat tire on a deserted stretch of country road. He pulls onto the shoulder to change it. After removing the four lug nuts and placing them into the hub cap, he removed the flat tire and takes his spare out of the trunk. As he is moving the spare tire into position, his hand slips and he upsets the hub cap with the lug nuts, which tumble off into the night where he can’t find them. What should he do? (Hint: Instead of asking how he might find the lug nuts, reframe the problem and ask where else he might find lug nuts.)

Is it worth studying for a college degree, or should I work to help my family?

If you have got financial ability or scholarship you study degree

I don't understand how college works please help?

If you get accepted, you have to decide if you will commit to that college (go to that one). After you decide, then the college actually helps you with what you need to do.

Generally, you have to wait until Freshman Orientation (usually during the summer) to get everything worked out. You get a tour of the campus, meet a few of the upperclassmen (who will be guiding you for the few days you're there) and meet with an Academic Advisor (similar to a guidance counselor). They will help you with the scheduling process. Some schools require that Freshmen take certain cluster classes as a way to get through their first semester and to help make friends that way (my alma mater did that). If you've declared a major, they'll try to set you up with one or two classes from the major, or an elective. If you haven't declared, they'll try to fit you into any open classes that you may be interested in.

College itself usually starts in September (like in HS), but some schools start in August. So in that way, it's no different from HS, except you're going to a different school, with different teachers, classes and hours (your schedule won't be as compact as in HS).

Unlike HS, you get a Winter break (from the end of Fall semester in December to the beginning of Spring Semester in late January, early February). You can take classes during Winter session or even during Summer Session.

Please someone? Im 18 and never do my college work...?

Alright, its taken me literally months to get to this stage but im need help badly now.

I started college in september last year and im doing an Aviation course to hopefully become a pilot. My whole life i have never struggled with doing homework or coursework.

Since i started college, i realised there is a LOT more work than in school or Sixth Form, but i thought i would be able to stay on top of it. After just a couple of months i was already behind, and now im so far behind i dont know what to do.

I KNOW im behind, and in my head i set times where i will make myself sit down and do coursework, but i never do it. Every night i go to bed, almost crying (yes, im a mature 18 year old male), worried about what will happen to me if i fail this course.

This course is my last chance to get a good qualification and i know that, but again... i never do anything. I always say to my parents i will do it, i promise my tutors, i promise myself i will do it, but still never do.

I hate this so much. On the odd occasion where i actually do get myself to sit down and do it, i just end up sitting there not knowing what to do.

I think i have been past the point where my stress level is overwhelming and now i just block it out until i go to bed.

I actually now think, after months of me going to sleep like this and this always being on my mind, that i have a mental problem which is stopping me, or is this another excuse im trying to make up? Is there any conditions or similar conditions like this that it could be?

I need help. BADLY.

I feel like i need to speak to someone who can help me get through my work, but my parents dont know anything about what im doing as they do not have any knowledge in aviation. My tutors are always busy (they have way too many classes to teach and stuff to mark), and both my parents and tutors just say the same thing over and over again... "you need to knuckle down and do it". I KNOW THIS! I tell them that i try to but almost physically cant, and they just repeat themselves again.

Im stressed beyond belief. Writing this is making me more angry at myself for not doing anything, but still i know i wont/cant do anything. Writing this was also quite difficult.

Is there something i can do?
Is there a medical/mental condition that i could POSSIBLY have?

Someone help me please!

What sites can actually help college graduates find work?

I have to echo the advice already on the thread.  The more information you know about the job field you are looking for the better.  If you are not having luck finding your dream job on the traditional job sites, then try to expand your website search.  This might help yield different results for you or even highlight a new job path you had not yet considered.   I was in a similar position as you, but I was looking for an internship.  After a couple months of searching I asked my sister, if she knew of any different sties to expand my internship search and she told me about, Hey Success, The Hub for student opportunities!  The website is a fantastic resource to find a number of different student opportunities, scholarships, internships, student events, competitions, and graduate level work.  You can filter the search results from the site to bring you opportunities from countries you are interested in working in.   I have attached the main graduate link to help with your search, Graduates - HeySuccess!   Another great thing about the site is the blog!  They have a number of excellent articles to help us out with our resume writing, interview tips, and other general advice to help make the most of our opportunities.  I wish you the best of luck in your job search and if you have any other questions feel free to reach out! :)

Do AP classes actually help prepare you for college level work?

I’ve taken many many AP’s (Statistics, Language and Composition, Biology, World History, US History, Psychology, Calc BC, Physics C Mechanics, Physics C Electricity and Magnetism; so both the STEM ones and the more humanities type ones) and I found that the classes themselves were useful for college in that:AP classes generally go at a faster pace, much like college classes. It teaches you to depend more on a textbook than a teacher. So basically, the textbook serves as a foundation to the curriculum rather than the teacher. The material was more advanced than other classes, so my comprehension and analysis skill set was better developed for college.More homework. Yup, that’s college.Just like you mentioned, the note taking skills it teaches you is very helpful for college courses.HOWEVER, I found that AP classes are terrible substitutes for college courses. So I received credit for both Physics and Calculus and was able to skip out of both for Hopkins (however, I didn’t because I wanted to make sure my foundation in those was strong and have some easier classes in my first year). Both of those classes were much MUCH harder than the AP classes I took. The college courses covered more topics and topics at a deeper level, which AP classes simply can’t do. So when taking AP tests and taking credit for them, keep in mind that if this class is going to be a foundation of your major (so if you’re going into some engineering and take the AP Calculus test), then you might want to retake it. Otherwise, feel free to take credit for those other extra classes if the university offers them, you don’t want to take more courses in college than necessary (especially ones you aren’t interested in).Furthermore, the structure of essays that I was taught in AP classes was absolutely torn apart in my first semester of college (took a writing intensive course (expository writing)). AP just teaches you to write one complicated sentences after another and have a very rigid 4–5 paragraph structure (SAT and AP do this too). However, my professor told me one thing that I always keep in mind whenever I write essays now: there’s a reason why short sentences exist: to provide clarity. If you write too many consecutive long sentences, you lose your reader and you lose the focus of your essay due to the complex syntax. So tldr, they help prepare you for college courses but are in no means, a substitute for college courses.
