I Need Help With My Budgie

I need help with my budgie.?

Birds are not fully healthy when provided with only a seed diet. He needs variety!
Millet, grapes, apple, treat sticks.
Also buy vitamins to put into his water daily.
A combination of all these things plus his main diet will help him grow into a stronger, more colorful bird.

Need help with my budgie he wont drink water?

Your bird would have drunk some water, you just did not see him.New birds take a while to adjust to their new surroundings (few days/couple of weeks) and are usually frightened to move if someone is around them.Try not to crowd your bird, talk to him gently,he will come round.

Is my budgie molting or sick??? help?

i've had my budgie for almost four years now, and lately he's been fluffed up and sleeping 24/7. today he looks really scruffy and keeps doing this weird thing it looks like he's regurgitating or something and he won't stop doing it. around his eyes and mouth looks really bad (idk how to describe) and i can't tell if he's molting or sick? here's a pic

Why do I need a cuttlestone for my budgie?

Cuttlebone is good for their health, for their beak and sometimes it's a chew toy for your budgies.Cuttlebone is made of calcium carbonate. Our budgies also need calcium like we do. Specially for egg laying female budgies.Beak of our budgies grow just like nails. This cuttlebone helps to wear down and maintain its shape. Now the last point. As you know, these lil birdies always want something to nibble or chew. That's why I said that it acts as a chew toy sometimes. Whenever my budgie gets angry he will go and starts his work on the cuttlebone. You will also get mineral block from pet stores. Even that one is good for your budgies and has more minerals for your budgies.

Should I cover my baby budgies cage with a cage cover, to help him sleep more peacefully and deeply? A budgie breeder said not to cover his cage, as budgies can get night frights that actually kill them, due to the shock of the fright.

We see night frights mostly with cockatiels but they can manifest themselves with any species.Covering the cage is no-brainer.Controlling the light cycle is incumbent upon the caged bird keeper. All of our cages have full spectrum lighting no more than 6 inches of above the cage placed on a timer so that they turn on at 8:30 AM CST and off it 8:30 PM CST while disrespecting daylight savings time.We do this to keep their circadian rhythms intact. Our birds circadian rhythms do not differ much from ours which is why we as humans suffer from things like SAD Seasonal Affective Disorder. This is one of the reasons that we offer a low lumen LED night frights light. This is where you need to make some decisions about the bird(s) in your care.If you feel that your bird should not fly in a clip it's wings while also keeping its toenails in check, you risk your bird falling off a slippery surface perch in the middle of the night.I've got six budgies and personally I don't think it's a real big issue so you can believe who you want to believe. All our birdcages have passive radiant heaters next to them so we are able to control the ambient temperature our birds experience. When I raise the front portion of the cage cover on each cage I am indicating to the birds that it is coming close to the start of their new day, if there full spectrum lighting has not come I've yet because I'm up early due to the need to pee.Your bird's daily routine is more important than whatever opinion those outside your circle try to dictate what is important and what is notIf there's one thing that birds like, it's routine.Follow yours and follow their's for a rewarding relationship

1 baby budgie is out of the nest box, what do I do?

It depends on how old the baby is. If it is under 4 weeks, I would put it back in the nest box. If it is over that, it can certainly find its own way in. If it is much under 4 weeks, it couldn’t have gotten out of a standard nest box by itself and may have been tossed out by a parent. If this is the case, watch carefully as the parent may abuse it.Baby budgies usually begin to leave the nest between 4 and 5.5 weeks, and they can go in and out on their own. Make sure there is food and water available and obvious so they locate it and begin to wean themselves. It is fine to touch the babies from day one, the parents don’t have a sense of smell, apparently, or just don’t care. They will continue to care for them after you return them to the nest.

Help! My budgie has her foot stuck on my blanket?

ok dont panic, the exact same thing happened to my parakeet. it is probably stuck on the band on her leg. you need to get her free before she breaks her leg, but it is beater her leg, then trying to cut her out while she is struggling and accidentally stab her. stay calm around her, they can sense if you are nervous and she will start to fidget a lot, and that wont help. cut the corner of the blanket she is stuck to, at a safe distance away from where she is stuck, that way she will be basically free from the blanket. then wait awhile for her to calm down. take her out of the cage with a small towel and press her against your chest, making sure her head is covered and braced against your chest. this may take a few tries, but once you get it, wait for her to get a little calmer. then take the scissors, making sure she cant hear or see them, and carefully cut her out and put her back in her cage. she may struggle, but you have to be firm and make sure that she does not move. then once she is calm (if it is the next day that is fine) take her to the vet so that the vet can examine her leg and also see if the rest of her is fine. also turn off the lights and use a small flashlight that will only illuminate her leg while cutting her out, this will make her more calm. most importently just stay calm, she will be fine
