Guys i need help with my laptop.SONY VAIO IT WONT BOOT>?
So you sustained an accidental power loss and now the computer cycle boots to the START UP MENU screen? I assume you have tried each option to no avail, right? Here's what happened. When your computer is on, Windows "mounts" the hard drive and creates a swapfile. When you shutdown, Windows closes the swapfile and dismounts the drive just before powering off the unit. Well when power is dropped unexpectedly, Windows can not preform this action. So when you reboot, the hard drive is still in a mounted state. Windows tries to mount the drive which is already in a what? A Mounted state... Same with the Swap File. HOW TO FIX IT Windows usually recovers itself from this foreseable problem, but sometimes (more than you would believe) it can not. And MicroSoft has taken this into consideration. You must preform a NON Destructive OS Repair Installation. Things you will need. Your System Recovery CD's and/or Windows Installation CD Drivers CD or Access to an Internet connected PC. HOW TO DO IT 1. Insert the Windows CD into the drive and restart the PC 2. Look for a message on the screed to access the boot menu, or press TAB or ESC. OR just wait for the PRESS ANY KEY TO BOOT FROM CD... to appear. 3. After the Windows CD loads, you will be greeted with the 1st menu screen. Hit ENTER as if you were going to install a FRESH copy of Windows. (Don't worry, we won't) 4. Press F8 to agree to the EULA agreement. 5. If the option is available, press R Otherwise, stop and reboot from cd and proceed to step 8 6. The computer will do it's thing for approximately 45 minutes and will reboot a few times. After it completes and boots into your desktop, makesure all your drivers are installed by right clicking on My Computer and selecting Properties, then click the Hardware Tab and DEVICE MANAGER. 7. Test your machine.... END FIX 8. Select R for Recovery console 9. Select your windows installation (Usually #1) 10. If there is an Administrator Password, provided it now. 11. The CMOS battery is located under the system board, and is not accessible from under the keyboard. The keyboard has to be removed in order to change the CMOS battery. The battery should be covered in green plastic.
Sony Vaio Touchpad going crazy! Please help!?
This is a problem with the Sony Driver and it is completely fixable, thank goodness. The installed touchpad is an Alps touchpad and you can upgrade them. Download the Dell Alps touchpad drivers here: Dell Alps Touchpad Drivers Version for Windows Vista and XP 32 and 64-bit http://support.us.dell.com/support/downl... These drivers will work for both Windows Vista and the XP Downgrade if you opted for that. Once you have done this you must rebooth (XP) adjust some settings. 1) Go into Control Panel > Mouse > and go to the "Dell Touchpad" tab. Click on the large Touchpad Graphic to open those settings. 2) Click the "Touchpad Settings" icon lower left. 3) Adjust "Touch Sensitivity" all the way to the left - "Light Touch". This may be enough for you, but I found that it was not enough for me, so .... 4) Under "TouchCheck" on the same screen, uncheck the "Enable" option, to disable it. TouchCheck "numbs" the touchpad in case your palm rests against it, to prevent unwanted clicks or mouse movement. I dont have this issue and it optimizes the sensitivity even more when you are making deliberate movements.

My Sony vaio laptop battery is dead, do I need to remove the battery while using the adapter?
If the battery is dead-dead, then you might as well remove it. It's not doing any good being in the laptop, and you knowing it's dead will help you not attempt to go mobile with it. But ultimately it's not doing you any good sitting in the laptop if it's totally dead. If it has a small charge, or let's say it's able to give about 10min of power before giving up, I'd leave it in the laptop, with the mindset of if the power ever surges or the power plug is mistakenly removed, you have a few minutes to quickly save and shut down or quickly re-plug in the power supply.
