I Need Help With My Story Using The Prompt

What are some good prompts to help me get started on writing (whether it be a poem, a story, or song lyrics?)

"The aliens feared us for our superior parking lot technology."Now take that sentence and riff on it for a few quatrains in your song or poem, or for your magnum opus, The Aliens Stymied By Our Asphalt Gardens. Those two things are free, and you owe me nothing. The hard part is writing an entire song, poem, short story, or novel around that one sentence and that one phrase. But if you do get published, give a shout-out to Anonymous. ;)Write a lot. Shut down your connection to the internet, so you can focus on writing. Write what interests you whether it's fiction or reality. Research something that you want to learn more about and read as much about it as you can if that will fuel your writing inspiration. A lot of song writers, including Aimee Mann and Frank Black, read voraciously and write songs (I think) that are inspired in part by what they read about. Go for a walk. Keep a pad of paper handy in your pocket, so you can jot something down that inspires and interests you. The chances are high that if it interests you it may very well be good source material for a poem, book, or song. And do what James Altucher recommends and write down 10 ideas and 10 things to be grateful for each and every day. Both of these grow your creativity muscles and your gratefulness muscles.

I'm stuck. Help me with the essay prompt?

In “A Rose for Emily” William Faulkner provides sensory details and elements of setting that create a suspenseful foreboding atmosphere throughout the story. How do these details and elements contribute to the story’s suspense and final outcome? Use details in the short story in your response.

Essay prompt help?! story of an hour?

(it may be a little hard to get 500 words in there, try putting a lot of quotes in the paper)
but you know the part where she's looking out the window and:

1st there's signs of spring : representing new life, even though she doesn't know it yet

then its the blue sky- which represents her freedom (like a bird flying in the sky- there's a reason her name is mrs mallard)

then finally it hits her that she is free, that her husband is dead and she can have a new life. and the blue sky represents her freedom again, although this time she accepts it.

try to be wordy and put as many quotes as possible in your paper to take up room. maybe use the three parts i gave you as the three body paragraphs and then have an intro and conclusion.
GOOD LUCK!! :)

Short story ideas? Writing prompt? Anything helps???!!!?

You could write about a person who falls into a deceptive world where all is not what it seems.
or
Someone who really wants something but knows that if they are themselves they will not get it so they lie their way through it.
or
a master deciever who is pro at decieving but one day finds out the badness of decieving and tries to stop it and has a battle inside his mind
or
a contsest in which some friends get pulled into and they must lie and decieve in order to get through it

Dystopian writing prompt?

I'm in the 9th grade, and need help with an upcoming literature assessment.
My task is to write an introduction to a utopian story, in a utopian world, with slight hints and foreshadowing to that world being dystopian (ex, Divergent, The Giver, The Hunger Games, etc).
Can someone please suggest a prompt, or an idea, for me to work with? Thanks!

Can someone give me a few story prompts? I wanna write about something.

As a writer, what you need to do is go out and experience something of life. Sit in a bar and listen to the conversations or watch the people and imagine why they’re there, why’re they upset, what would they do immediately after leaving the place? Sit on a train and people watch, listen to the news and see what you can explore from the headlines or a detailed report….Great answer.Screenwriting has changed a lot over the last 10 years. In some ways it has become a lot more competitive and tougher to break into. There’s more money in it than ever and anyone with a keyboard can sit in their room and type up a script. However as methods improve we’re seeing a lot of last generations screen writers fall behind. Combine that with the ever driving demand for entertainment fueled by services like Netflix and we have more openings than ever. But if you’re getting started with screen writing you need to seperate yourself from the rest of the pack. If you haven’t seen it already this looks at the change in methods and gives you the audiobook of Save the Cat which has been the ‘must have’ for screenwriters over the last 15 years: How Young Guns in Screenwriting are Winning. – Talz Mag – Medium

Need existential and surreal writing prompts?

I need to get the creative juices flowing. I usually writer surreal and existential short stories and so I need a prompt that fits into these areas. It doesn't need to be super detailed because I still want to be able to call it my own. Just a general idea.

By the way, when I say "surreal" I don't mean "fantasy". So no dragons, vampires, werewolves, and goblins.

Think Kafka, Borges, and Murakami. :)
