I Need Options On My Current Living Situation And What You Think Is Fair As Far As Paying Of Bills

Can my ex boyfriend sue me for rent he paid (while he wasn't living with me)?

In a nut shell: Last October (2009) my boyfriend and myself decided to live together. We moved into an apartment with his name being the only name as 'lease owner" due to his credit rating being much better than mine. Long story short, he decided to move out four months later. Being a lease is a contract (a year's), he believed he still needed to pay the monthly rent for the remainder of the year's lease so to protect his credit rating. He has paid the rent, especially since I've been off work via medical issues per doctor's orders. I have, however, paid for all utilities, such as electric, phone, cable, internet and for our rented garage that is extra every month. This was FAIR, of course. My ex only pays the rent each month being his name is solely on the lease. Now, after months of not hearing from him, he's texting me that he's going to sue to me for X amount of rent! Can he succeed? After all, although I was living here with my children, he signed the lease for a year and HE alone decided to vacate (abandon the property, if-you-will). Therefore, whether he chose to live here or move out when he did, he was still responsible for paying for the rent, correct? Thank you.

I need options on my current living situation and what you think is fair as far as paying of bills goes?

I've been living in a two bedroom house for quite some time now. About a year and a half ago I let my good friend move in because she was 6 months pregnant and needed a nice home to bring her son into this world to. Seeing as the two bedrooms are both upstairs (only rooms on that floor) I turned my dinning room into a third "bedroom" for myself so she could have a bedroom and her son could have his own. Mind you my new "bedroom" has no door (I've hung curtains up for some privacy) and is right next to the living room and front door entrance. I also have no closets now and very little privacy because the kitchen is also adjacent to my room. Doing all of this just to help her out. Up until now all utilities, including rent have been split 50/50. Everything was going fine until about two months ago when she got a bf and he started staying here 25 or more days out of the month. He did pay 1/3 of one months electric bill and some rent and is now gone. Issue is ever since then my roommate and I don't get along the same. There's this tension between us. My issue is that I feel taken advantage of especially after that experience. I feel like she should be paying more than half for utilities because she does twice the amount of laundry, her son is now one so she fills the bath tub twice, sometimes three times a day, she always has fans on and she is already getting a deal on rent for two bedrooms when I have no storage space or real privacy and I'm never really home. HELPPP

I have $85,000 in medical bills, i have paid 45,000 + some credit card debt, should i file bankruptcy?

last year my wife changed careers, we risked no insurance for 2 weeks, i had a heart attack in those 2 weeks, almost $120,000 i am doing ok, i have depleted our saving, sold my 57 nomad, and cashed in my life ins., to pay the bills. these "wolves still call everyday wanting me to increase my payment(to over $400 i have 2 different bills wanting this much) i cannot afford this, i haven't been able to pay my credit cards, they are huge now with all the late fees, i can barely put food on the table. i would like to keep my house. should i file bankruptcy and rid myself of all the stress? for my health's sake

My girlfriend isn't paying rent! I feel like kicking her out. What do I do!?

I make pretty decent money. Enough to pay the rent and my car. But when we decided to move out, we both agreed to handle expenses and have each other when one was short and vice versa. Basically, she'd give me her paycheck in full and I'd take care of the budgeting. She never gave me a paycheck since we moved in last month and now I had to end up paying the full amount of rent + my car all due on the first. Now I'm broke til the next paycheck in 2 weeks. I'm furious. She's having difficulty with her current job and even more difficulty finding a new one.

I'm sick of this same argument with her. I wish she'd just listen to me. Now she wants to tell me that she's starting school and postponing work while her mom helps her cover expenses. UGHHH I really don't know what to do.

I feel like I am in a terrible situation. Any ideas to make myself feel better or more in control?

My daughter and her step father have been arguing. Now she wants to live with her Dad. After talking to my current husband about this situation, he said he would leave and then came back 10 min. later and said I should take the kids and leave and his only reason he has been around is for our youngest daughter.

My daughter knows we have been speaking of divorce, but for her to up and say she wants to leave and then him leaving and/or coming back and demanding I leave, just makes my head spin. Ultimately, I will have an atty to hopefully get him out and what should I do about my daughter? I respected my daughter asking and got her an extra 2 days with her dad this weekend, but then she emailed me. "she likes it better at his house(she is the only child there and with me she has 2 other sisters). when my current husband and I divorce she could come home"

HELP!!!

I am just really confused and upset as this happened in the last 20 hours!

Question about the disclosure of disabilities?

The reason a person does not need to disclose their disability as it often leads to unwarranted discrimination. Some disabilities are obvious and than discrimination will still take place. A landlord if told about needed accommodations in advance might decide that don't want to rent to you and that IS discrimination.

A landlord can ask for proof of the reason for a needed accommodation. Not for proof of a disability. If you require an air conditioner, the landlord can request proof of the reason an air conditioner is needed from a medical professional. Example: A person does not need to prove that they have asthma, but they do have to provide proof that their health would be compromised if the air in their home was over 80 degrees. This in essence discloses they have asthma, but they could also have emphesema, black lung disease, or any of a number of other breathing disabilities.

It MIGHT be fair if all the information was laid out ahead of time, but to be fair, the chances of a person with a disability getting rented to would drop substantially. When the stigma of disability disappears - ask the question again.

Added: The other reason disclosure is not required ahead of time is that a person may not know what accommodations they need. They might need none in their current living situation and so decide not to disclose. But in their new apartment there is a problem with air circulation and so the apartment gets much hotter (or colder) than their previous apartment. So they need an accommodation. A person can choose to disclose or not. The only time disclosure is required is when you ask for a specific accommodation.
