My sister may be transgender? I need advice?

Hey there! There are two concepts here that you need to understand before you can really understand anything further:

One, that sex is what someone biologically is; you are male, female, or intersex (less common, and usually "fixed" with forced and consensual surgery very young)

Two, that gender is what society perceives the sexes to be: e.g. men to be masculine, women to be feminine. Gender is unique to everyone, especially gender expression.

Your sibling is experiencing gender dysphoria. This is when someone's gender does not match up to their sex and this has been scientifically proven by multiple studies to be real, and not a disorder as disorders are typically defined - simply something that is, and something we should accept and try to help ease in those who have to deal with it. The simple fact is that if your sibling labels themselves as genderfluid, then there's a lot of other stuff they're dealing with too - they're likely very uncomfortable in their body some days, and experience fluctuating feelings towards the things that make their sex. This is what makes someone genderfluid - fluctuating feelings towards gender.

Because of how gender is, inherently, there are grey areas between masculine and feminine. In some cultures, there are over ten genders - multiple genders aren't new, or made up, they've been experienced by many across time and land. It's good you're open minded, but agreeing with the other person with a long answer does nothing to help your sibling, because the genderless society they are envisioning is so, so far off that we need to make do with what's here, now.

Ultimately, even if you don't fully understand or believe in what your sibling is labeling themselves as, the kind and helpful thing to do is just comply. Maybe when they're older they'll settle down and decide, but for now, just help smooth the journey. It's not too hard to use new pronouns or names, because it's not like you use them that often in conversation anyways.

Good luck to you and your sibling!

How would you be more open-minded?

Here is a short course in having an open mind.1. Forget what you believe, and look at everything afresh, as if for the first time.2. Stop assuming your ideas and values are correct. Consider each situation based on the actual and individual circumstances around it.3. Realize that you often bullshit to fill in the gaps when you don't know something. Stop doing that and just "not know". 4. Take pleasure in the presence of the mysteries that surround us, and wonder about them without collapsing on any certain explanations. 5. Be really happy to meet people who you don't understand, and let your curiosity create questions to ask them about what they think and believe. 6. Stop judging everything and everyone like you are some sort of divine moral guidance officer. You are not. Its OK to be happy without being a source of wisdom and knowledge about anything. The great irony of the open mind is that it has the tendency to make you end up more right, without ever meaning to be.

How can one be more open-minded and be more willing to accept changes (new people, a job never dreaming about) in life?

The opposite of open-mindedness is personality. Now, let me clarify that. You express some personality in a natural way. This personality I told that is the opposite of open-mindedness is the action of caring, strenghtening and developing this personality. Sttuborn people are usually the ones that have to defend their personality. The longer you cultivate this artificial personality, the more it will show you its flaws. And as you keep seeing its flaws, the harder you defend it.We are so caught up in the illusory personality that we can't even tolerate people with seemingly weak ones.

Which is better to be naive and close minded or be open minded and look at the world around me?

You've given us a false dichotomy. Neither of these is a good choice. Practical advice on open-mindedness is that you should be open-minded, but not credulous. Consider new things, but don't swallow everything some nutball tells you.

Need advice dealing with a closed minded martial artist?

Ok, so ive done wing chun, xingyiquan, Sanshou, kali, western boxing for many years, and Bjj for about 8 months.

So, ive VERY open minded to all martial arts. I have a friend who has been doing BJJ for about 2 years now and loves it. We used to train together in wing chun for awhile, but he only did it for about 6 months. Now he claims that he has "the truth". He is always saying "**** Muay thai, wing chun, and all that other stuff, Jujitsu owns them all." It really ticks me off. I agree that grapplers have a big advatage over other styles in an "Unarmed" one-on-one environment. But, I kept trying to tell him that martial arts are "situational." Sometimes it isnt practical to use Bjj. What if the guy has a weapon, has a friend, or his grappling skills are better than yours. Then what?
All styles have great tactics for certain situations. I like wing chuns side kick to the knee, muay thai's clinch, xingyi's palm strikes, boxing's head-movement, Jujitsu butterfly guard, Kali's defang the snake.........

Yet, he has this attitude like his way is the "end all be all". When it comes to martial arts, people treat it like religion.l Why cant everybody just admit that there is no "perfect" way. Each style has different uses.

Tai chi master vs an MMA fighter........the MMA fighter will dominate him no doubt. But, at age 80 , who will be more flexible and healthier?

I mean, every system helps the person in different ways.

When we spar, he often gets me down and submits me. His grappling is better than mine. And when we strike, I get the better of him. I want to learn from EVERYBODY. I love all aspect of martial arts, weapons, chi gung, grappling, striking.......

how should I deal with this type of person?

Being open minded, is it difficult to get a job?

Actually 14 is just a number as 9 was for me. I got rejected by 9 companies before getting my first break. We used to joke about tcs and all, but got rejected in the final round by tcs. That hit me hard. During this period, I hit lows and highs but ultimately got selected. The entire journey taught me that I was merely running after any job and I evaluated myself for what I really want in life.....just be patient bro. Your job offer will be with u soon. And if this doesnt work out for u, maybe u belong to a group who creates jobs and not get a job. Just keep working hard and dont just run after jobs. Work for what you really want.....peace out bro

Why are most Muslims not open minded?

A2A I consider myself to be an open minded Muslim. I actually do not consider Muslims to be more or less open minded than their counterparts in similar circumstances.I believe that being open minded or not has more to do with education, tradition and culture than religion. I happen to know some very strict Hindus that are just as closed minded as their Muslim brethren (though I am sure they would not like calling them their brothers).Equally it is close to impossible to find an open minded Christian if he has spent his whole life believing that that what he has been taught is without doubt the only truth. Being open minded is a state that often comes with a secular education. Those who are able to stay open minded after having been "schooled" into certain thought patterns are hard to find regardless of their religion.  I believe that all religions are meant to lead us to one and the same G-d. I'm not sure this makes me open minded because I will defend religions (any religion) against atheists and other religions trying to put it down.  We all are in our own way closed minded ;)
