HELP this newbie build a car audio system please...?

so basically you have 2 subwoofers and that's it right?
OK start there find an amp that is compatible with your speakers based on wattage and ohms required.Shop around and go out and try to acually hear stuff and talk to ppl.If you're limited on money you can still go out and window shop to get familar with brands and reputation and such then take that knowledge and pick up used stuff just be careful to make sure it works before you buy it.Now,with all that bass you're gona need to ugrade your door and rear deck speakers.which means a second amp cuz i don't think a 5 channel is gonna push those 12's all that well.Find out what size speakers you have and compare that to what's available as far as wattage goes you might need to make bigger holes cuz nobody seems to make small speakers that take alot of power.I would suggest 6 by 9's in the rear with 6.5 inch round in the door.Finding componet speakers that have seperate tweeters for the door would be nice too but not necassary.Look for speakers with around 75- 100 watts RMS power handling. That should give you plenty of loud.BTW you DO wanna buy your speakers new. Also on the wattage you can get higher than what I mentioned in a 6by 9 but it'll be hard to find in the 6.5's now again find your amp.You need a 4 channel preferable with seperate output controls for front and rear so you can bump up those 6by9's.Now when you're done spending all that money you still need a head unit, again if money is an issue you can hack all this stuff into the actory stereo and it'll sound allright but if you really want clear sound find a unit with 3 sets of preouts so you have less distortion going into your amps.Again go out and actualy listen to diffent products and get what sounds good to you cuz different ppl have different tastes, just try to stick with name brands and stay way from the cheesy stuff.Pioneer, kenwood, and rockford fosgate have excellent products at a good price.Don't forget all the cables conectors and various other crap and remember to disconect the groud on you battery before doing ant wiring on your car.

Good luck and have fun

What home theatre audio system should I buy?

I have a $500 flexible budget. Im looking for surround sound. I want a good sound bar, a good subwoofer and 4 extra speakers to place around the room. Less cords are better. Looking for quality, not loudness. I dont want to make more than 3 purchases. Id very much prefer buying from walmart.com so i can use my discount.

Im currently thinking about the Samsung HT-J5500W and the samsung HW-MS6500. Im not sure if those would even work well with each other but its a bit above my price range.

I appreciate any help but i dont want to hear "walmart sucks" or "$500 is nowhere near enough" only positive help please.

What is the best brand for a car audio system?

I've posted this before, but it should provide you with a some help.

The components of a "banging" car sound system would be as follows: The source (cd player, in-dash dvd/nav system, radio, tape player, etc.), the speakers, the subs, the amps, the parts/wiring. Also, depending on how big of a system, possibly a new battery or two and an alternator. Here are some of my recommendations as far as good brands.

Deck: Eclipse, Pioneer (regular or premier), Alpine, Kenwood Excelon, Nakamichi (not the greatest looking, but great sound).

Speakers: Polk Audio, Infinity, Eclipse, Pioneer Rev High end: Focal, Boston, MB Quart, Nakamichi

Subs: JL Audio, MTX, Kicker, Eclipse, Audiobahn, Memphis, Hifonics, Diamond Audio, Fosgate (p3 and higher)

Amps: all the sub companies, plus, Precision Power, Crossfire, Cadence, Soundstream

Parts/Wiring: Monster, Tsunami, Streetwires, even Kicker and Fosgate make decent parts/wiring.

Now if I had to choose, here would be my choices:
Deck: Eclipse or Pioneer
Speakers: Polk Audio, Infinity, or Eclipse
Amps/Subs: JL Audio or MTX
Wiring: Tsunami or Monster.

But in the end these are just my recommendations (based on quality and sound), like Sparky said only you can judge what you like. Everyone's ears are a little different so what sounds good to me may not sound good to you. Shop around at all the car audio dealers and take a listen, but make sure you take one of your cds with you so you can judge all of them with the same song (one that you are familiar with).

How do you calculate watts in an audio system?

I want to know how powerful my system is but I am confused on how you work out a systems total wattage...

I have a 600w 5.1 surround amplifier but only have 2x 200w speakers. Does this mean my system is only 200w or do you add all watts up to the 1000w?

How much does a decent car audio system cost?

I've got a 96' Buick Regal that I'd like new audio for, and was just wondering a ballpark figure for the installation and purchase of new speakers, and the CD deck. Thanks!
