I Need Sub-plots For My Story

Subplot Ideas For My Story?

Hello friends,

I am working on writing a book and I've come to ask for a little help. A need some ideas to get my mind cranking so I can brainstorm some good ideas. No, I'm not asking you to write my story with or for me. I would just to kick my mind in gear and other people's ideas tend to inspire me.

All I know about my book that I'm writing is it's going to be about two girls - we'll call them Character A and Character B. Character A is helping Character B because Character B is suicidal, suffers from depression, anxiety, and some other physiological problems. So, Character A helps Character B (because they're best friends) by taking her to group therapy sessions. There will also be a part where Character B is going to jump off a building, or some type of suicide attempt, and Character A saves her.

Now, this isn't very original, is it? That's what I thought. So I decided to give it a little twist.

It turns out that really Character A is the one with all these problems and Character B is the one trying to save her. Confusing, right?

Other words, Character A is actually the crazy one and she's not going to realize it until the end of the book. Or near the end. So, it was really Character B taking her to group therapy, instead of the other way around, and it was Character A who was trying to jump off the building, per se, instead of Character B.

Hopefully, you understand what I'm talking about because I know the concept can be a bit obscure.

That's all I have up to this current point. Now, this is where you all come in. As you can see, I only have the main idea thought up. I'm curious to see if anyone has any intriguing subplots? Perhaps a little side romance idea ( I was original thinking that, maybe, the two girls could be lesbians... but there needs to be other characters involved and a side romance and a boy might fulfill that need). Or something dramatic could happen at their school that involves either Character A or B. I don't know.

I love out of the ordinary. I love twists. No idea is stupid.

What are the plot and subplot of west side story?

On the mean streets of New York City, two gangs are in a long-lasting duel. The Sharks, a Puerto Rican gang, grapple with the difficulties of assimilating into American society. The Jets, the "American" gang, want to resist newcomers entering their territory. In the midst of this rivalry, a Jet, Tony, falls in love with a beautiful Sharks' girl, Maria. After a fight between the Jets and the Sharks, Tony ends up killing Maria's brother, Bernardo. Bitter over losing Maria's love and the death of Bernardo, Maria's Puerto Rican suitor, Chino, shoots Tony dead.

What are Subplots in literature?

subplots are other plots within the story separate to the main story

here's an example, i'll use harry potter:

The main plot is harry and voldemort being enemies and them trying to kill each other

a subplot would be harry and ginny's relationship OR hagrid and buckbeaks trial OR the yule ball OR ron getting given a love potion or Hermione being turned into a cat

it is all the little plots that bulk up the story =)

hope I helped

What is the Sub-plot in Rebecca?

One subplot (that isn't REALLY a fully-developed subplot) is the relationship between Rebecca and her cousin (I forgot his name.)

Her relationship with Mrs. Danvers I think can be considered a subplot, but its really a part of the bigger picture, like the new Mrs. De Winter's feelings of uneasiness at the house. But, I suppose as it is described more in depth, I might list it as one.

I read the book a few months ago and saw the movie this weekend. It was really good.

How do you come up with and write a subplot for a film?

THIS IS THE BEST! Imagine a film about you writing a screenplay. You are in your own subplot in your own story right now!You are writing a screenplay, it is going well but there is something missing… Hey a subplot, yeah that’s the thing, but how to get a credible subplot? Ask quora. When you get your answer, your subplot is now almost finished. When you find it, write it and resolve it, then complete the rest of the script. Your subplot and now the story is complete.Subplot can be anything else that comes up in their journey, perhaps they meet someone looking for a lost puppy. Things throughout the adventure hint and nag at the characters. An hour later they find the puppy and return it to the owner. Learning something about themselves and each other in the process. Not to be confused with obstacles that are just the problems that get in the characters way throughout the story that they must overcome.Best of luck in your film.

Any possible ideas for a subplot within a murder/romance story?

You could possibly have the boy that reads minds reveal his secret to the girl, and create sub-plot conflict with her either rejecting him thinking hes crazy...Another sub sub plot would be his attempts to prove he *isnt* crazy, whilst trying to prevent her impending murder

You could have the boy reveal his mind powers to her, and her accept them...The sub plot would be attempting to prevent the murder with no evidence of a murder really occuring...telling the police something bad is going to happen based on a "hunch" instead of this kids mind powers....All while trying to keep his secret from the public

You could just not have the boy reveal his mind powers right away, and create conflict between him and the girl....Which would make his saving her all the more difficult to do

You could twist it by making the murderer have a power of some sort...Why did he look into her eyes and decide he wanted to kill her? As a sub plot you could make him releated somehow to the mind reading boy

Think about what secrets her family would want to keep hidden...Is there something that her family is hiding from the girl that she doesnt know? or something the girl is hiding from the boy? Maybe there is a relationship between the girl and the murderer, or the murderer and the girls family somehow.

Just a few things to get those gears workin, good luck...I rather like your idea.
