I Need Tips From Musicians How Do I Get Over Stage Fright

How do I get over stage fright and nerves???

I have been on an improve team for a while now and have recentlly decided to become a stand up comic, the only problem is I have really bad stage fright and nerves! How do I get over this??? Someone please help me...

What tips do you have for a musician getting over stage fright or is a natural introvert?

Although it may seem almost impossible to “cure” your stage fright, there are often lots of different ways in which you could become more confident and have a higher self-esteem.Firstly, put yourself in that position where you feel uncomfortable, whether it’s playing an instrument infront of your collegues, or making a speech for an audience. If you subject yourself to that fear, phobia if you will, then slowly over time, you should see yourself becoming more confident. The only reason you feel scared or nervous when on a stage, is because you believe that people are going to judge you. 99% of the time, they’re not there to judge you, and even if they didn’t enjoy your music or agree with your speech, they would never show it.Another interesting technique, which worked miracles for me, is to just start doing whatever you’re doing and forget that people are there. Of course, this is easier if you’re playing an instrument, however with a speech, remember to maintain eye contact with the audience and not just drone on.Lastly, be yourself. Pretending to be someone your not won’t boost your confidence. Try putting yourself in situations that makes you feel uncomfortable, and then you may see that you can feel better in them!

Any Tips On How To Not Get Nervous On Stage?

Hello Drugtective :D

I have seemed to help people with this before so here we go.......

first things first DO NOT waist your time with "mental games"
since this is your audition, its more crucial to do your best. practice with a mirror in front you and anyone els. that will take away any fear of wondering what you look like. (I video myself while playing drums)
secondly practice until you are absolutely tired of the set list
seriously practice till you puke.

the only solution to nerves is total total total confidence if you are not 100% confident then your nerves will eat you alive.

here are the others I've helped, see if you can take anything from it.

What are some good tips for getting over stage fright?

One thing to remember is that almost everyone experiences stage fright and it is not at all unusual. Also, people are rarely paying as much attention to you as you think, I mean this in a good way. Allow yourself to believe that they're not really listening, this can ease some of the pressure. I linked to an article below that talks about stage fright- hope it helps-

I have major stage fright. What do I do?

I’ll rewrite it here because not sure if the link came across.Presentation stress is natural. Once you understand the source of this nervousness, you can use tactics to overcome it.Public speaking fear is a physiological problem. Next time when you give a speech, observe your feelings — especially in the beginning. You will notice, fear is due to either your mind is busy wondering “what do they [audiences] think of me” or “how am I doing”. This feeling makes one nervous; you see yourself under a spotlight. To circumvent it:Try to change this thought to “how are they doing”; are they (the audiences) getting it?Make it a conversation. Imagine you are talking to a friend — you never feel nervous when you talk to a friend.Notice when someone in the audience nods his/her head. Head nod signifies they are listening to you and agreeing to you (at least to some extent). This will give you confidence. To get head-nods, look at a person and deliver a phrase or thought and if they don’t nod their head, nod yours and soon they will too. This is due to mirror neurons and it is involuntary. Finally, practice your speech (several times) before delivering it.These are just some of the things you can do … hope it helps. Good luck!(For more, check out “Talk to Convince” book on Amazon.)—————Previously submitted———————-Please see my previous answer to similar question:What may be the reason for my nervousness during presentations in crowds, even though I have given more than 10 talks?

Did you ever deal with stage fright or shyness, and how did you overcome it?

I spent ten years writing and acting in sketches and have been in a few plays, and there is not one second of any of the performances when I wasn’t afraid. But I do have a few ideas to help you.Redefine fear. The heart pounding and all that can be seen as adrenaline, which can be channeled to increase your on-stage energy.Figure out what exactly makes you afraid. For me it’s the fear of forgetting my lines. I deal with it by knowing my lines cold. I’ve spaced on a line twice and both times I was rescued by fellow cast members who improvised a line that got me going again. So it’s important that you are able to trust your fellow cast members. If you’re freaking out about having all those people looking at you one thing you can do is to think of one person in your life who will always love whatever you do and feels proud of you, and then forget about everybody else and perform for that person.Break a leg!

What do you do if you have a stage fright, and your biggest dream is to do stand-up shows?

Hahaha !! Great Question.I want to win a medal in Swimming But I am afraid of water . What to do ?A good trainer or your deepest desire will definitely through you into the water.Rest will be the step taken by you , weather you are ready to jump again or not.One will definitely not learn to swim in 1–2 Days forget about the medals. The only thing he need to do initially is at least Jump, be there and feel it and imagine he is swimming like a pro.So for you, Jump up the stage weather to adjust the mic, be there for some moment and feel the aura .It will be your hunger and your unmatched Desire which will eventually push you to climb the ladders again and again , but in case you do not get that push from inside ,My dear, you have chosen This career just under some influence or merely to impress someone , this is not you really want to do. And this is NOT your biggest dream.Regards
