Next, you need to get your girlfriend out of your life. With all you have to deal with, the last thing you need is a gf to worry about. If she's the one now, then she'll be the one later. If she can't understand that, then she is not the one. If you're only 26 and she's of age, then she can't be but so much younger than you. So, those years shouldn't make that much of a difference. This girl is into the things you're getting away from. That leaves you with a choice to make: worry about your gf or let her go and worry about yourself.

You need a 12 step program. You also need mentoring from a man who's life story is similiar to yours and support from others who've experienced what you're going through. You will find this in support groups. Another thing that helps is reaching out to others one on one through volunteering. This may sound corny, but don't forget about Jesus Christ. How can i become a better more productive person?

I would have to agree with your husband;that said,it's important to differentiate between anger and resentment.
anger is a normal human reaction to an affront,emotional or physical.resentment is when I choose to RE feel that anger over and over again.(yes sometimes I am that selfdestructive,lol)
I can give you an example of anger being productive,I was terrified of the ocean because of a childhood near-drowning incident;I was married to a man who loved to snorkle and scuba dive.he wanted a dive buddy,and I couldn't get [past my fear.He finally picked a fight with me about being a wimp.
well,once he got me mad,I was able to try it just to "show that jerk", and once I got my head under the surface of the water,I was COMPLETELY hooked.I was mad at him for being mean,but I have always also been grateful that he goaded me into facing that fear.the rewards were amazing.

Thanks for a2a, Alex. Start the day by thanking for getting up in good health and mood. Have a warm bath. Take healthy breakfast.Note down days activities that you expect and intend. This should be made a habit. Every day, before start, a five-minute exercise will provide you with a written plan. Jot down time allocation, and possibly time duration with from and to. YOU MAY HAVE TWO OR THREE JOBS RUNNING IN PARALLEL IF YOU HAVE THE CAPABILITY AND CAPACITY.Keep an eye on time saving. Foremost is that time wastage should be bare minimum. At times, rid yourself of distractions. Keep correcting and upgrading what you have written for the day. In case priority drops for a certain task, that may be relegated to evening or even next day.After the day is over, see what percentage of works have successfully been accomplished. You will see that as days pass by, average of improvement will increase with a margin of a few days being lower but more pulling up with higher percentage performance.Hope this helps.
