I really want to have a pet (dog), but mom says it's a big no-no. How do I convince her?
Sorry friend. If mom says no, it's a NO . Any amount of diplomacy, cute puppy-faces, buttering, convincing, clinging to her feet is not going to work. My mom's answer was a straight no too. She said having a dog in the house is like having a new, independent individual who will need all the care that would be given to a baby, and that I wasn't ready yet. That's what your mom probably thinks too. I really wanted a pet, so I asked her If I could have a cat instead, she said yes. She probably thought that cats are low maintainence.I now have 6 cats.That's my best mwahaha moment. So this is a good opportunity for you to give a kitty a lovely home. I found that having a cat is an equally big responsibility as having a dog. But cats can fend for themselves if they were to be left alone for a few hours, unlike dogs. But if cats are not an option for you, you can do what I did. I still yearned to have a dog, so I made friends with all the stray dogs in my lane. I feed them everyday, give them their shots and vaccines, give all of them a good hour-long petting too. I am always welcomed with plenty of wagging tails and happy woofs! There's always plenty ways of having a dog. Adopt a stray dog as I did. So what if it doesn't live under the same roof as you? It'll still love you and drown you with doggy-drool and give you a hero's welcome each day!Hope this helps!

Your parents house, there rules. You're a freshman right now, you have at least 3 more years of school to go and then hopefully college. A dog is a huge commitment for anyone and caring for a dog and going to school can be very challenging and who's to care for the dog when you are away? Your parents, and they clearly do not want a dog. Wait until you have your own place, more time and have done your research, not to mention waiting until you hopefully have your own finances to care for a dog.

You didn't say how old you are. Practice a little patience with him, talk to him calmly when you disagree. Just because you don't have the exact same taste in everything, or because you argue, doesn't mean he doesn't love you. And obviously you love him, or you wouldn't care so much. Love is a great foundation. The rest will come in time. How about next time you two are arguing about something stupid, just look him in the eye and say, "I love you, Dad". Bet that'll stop the argument.

Sounds like your dad needs an attitude adjustment. Stop going to him with things. Go straight to your mom, get her opinion and walk away...even if your dad is in the room. Hopefully soon he will get the hint and stop being rude. I'm all for different opinions and a healthy debate...but it's the deliver of the opinion that counts.
I want to get my dog neutered, boyfriend disagrees! Help!?
I have a 7 month mini dachshund, and i love him dearly! I am planning on getting him neutered in the next few weeks, but my boyfriend doesn't think it's right. I really need some ideas so that I can change his mind! The dog was bought by both of us, belongs to both of us, but lives with me. I bought the dog so that I could have a companion, NOT to breed him. I don't know if he doesn't want to get him neutered because he wants to breed him some day, or if it's just a man-type thing. all I know is he thinks the procedure will hurt our dog. I tried explaining that there are so many puppies & dogs homeless and in shelters, and being put down because of people being irresponsible breeders. If i wanted to be a breeder, I would want to do it responsibly, but I don't know how to even start with that, i don't know what to do, don't have the time, money to put into it. I don't think he understands what a Backyard breeder even is... PLEASE give me ideas of what I can tell him, how i can convince that it is the right thing to do to keep our pup safe and healthy! I really want a Chihuahua but my mom doesn't! Any advice to get her to agree?
I really want a dog and I have been asking for years. We had one but had to give her away because she was sick :( But I have tried EVERYTHING! My mom won't agree! My dad is completely fine with it but it would mostly stay at my mom's house. I just want a 4 pound Chihuahua but the problem is she HATES Chi's. She hates the thought of having a cage and pee pee pads in the house. I have done everything from showing her videos to making PowerPoint presentations. I REALLY want one and I'm really responsible and have all A's in school. Please lots of advice to get her to agree? Thanks! :)
