How do I convince my parents to give me my laptop back?

Last summer I decided I would take a job as a roofer so as to save up for a really expensive laptop I had me sights on (over $1600). Eventually, after working the whole summer, I had saved enough, unfortunately a couple months later a friend of mine was smoking weed and he asked me if I wanted to join and I did, when I put my pants in the laundry that night I had forgotten i had taken my freinds' pipe screens by accident. Anyways my stepmom (who's not even my stem mom, just the woman my dad's been dating for about 8 years) found them and freaked out I already had felt really guilty and said I was sorry and fessed up right away, that was not enough though, she toldme she was taking away my laptop, at the time I felt really bad and guilty so I did not protest, but it's been 7 months now and I am really starting to get mad. I understand that there had to have been a punishment, but over half a year is way overkill, as well she doubly had no right to take my laptop because i had paid for all of it, she did not own any peice ofthat laptop, as well she is not even my mom. Her sense of entitlement astounds me, she basically lives in my dad's house for free andacts like she can boss me around as if she's my mom (which by the way my mother would never do), oh and did I mention that she's jobless and not even looking for work. Anyways, I got a little off topic but ultimatly, how do I convince mydad or her togive it back, as it is basically theft in the first place.

Should I make my 17 year old son work in order to live at home?

I am a high school biology teacher and a mother of two girls, one 21 the other is 3. My 21 year old is now in her third year of full time college. I can say from both perspectives, as a mother and an educator, that it totally depends on your son and his attitude/school status etc. I let my daughter stay rent free until she decided to attend school 200 miles away at age 19 and here is why:High School is tough, I know I teach it. I give out a lot of work for these kids to do, and I am only one of seven teachers these students have. So many of them barely finish their work as is. The few students I do have that work do not do as well as those who do not work. I am sure that is not always the case, but it is in my experience. As a parent, I can say that my daughters last year of school was pivotal in her college future. Had she been juggling work with school, she may not have gotten her scholarship. They have the rest of their lives to suffer through taxes and bills and work. I am glad I let my daughter hold that off and focus on her studies.Granted, I have a straight A 4.0+ daughter who never did drugs, or drink and whom I have a very close relationship with. I am a lucky mom. Had she been irresponsible or dropped out (hard to do with me around) I would have had a different view.If you think he would benefit more from working a part time job than he would from focusing on his studies, perhaps he should. But if you have any doubts, which it sounds like you do, I would suggest letting him have one more year to figure things out.

I caught my 14 year old child stealing money from our family. How should I handle this?

When I was a bit younger than her, I had the same problem as her. I used to steal from my family and they never found out. Then through peer pressure, I started shoplifting from the school cafeteria and the local supermarket. I was one of the biggest liars I knew since I had a strange tendency to steal ever since I was young.I continued this for a really long time (around 3–4 months) and nothing bad ever happened. That was until my head of secondary came in my classroom and the next thing I knew was that I was suspended.I didn’t learn how big this had become until the cafeteria lady told me that the total amount of stolen resulted in around more than 55 dollars. Where I live, that’s a lot. That happened around 2 years ago, and ever since, I haven’t even dared to steal because the consequences can be really big. I don’t think just talking to your daughter will help because my mum did that a lot when she found out before the whole canteen fiasco. You need to show her what the consequences are and maybe even think of some punishments. I’m not trying to be mean but I know that if my mum had done that, I could’ve avoided a lot of trouble, drama and a bad mark on my permanent record.I’m 15 now and I understand why she would want to steal. My parents never gave me a lot of pocket money and I saved all that I had. But the thought of getting something that was technically free was too alluring for me and I felt that no one would mind at all.But others do mind but that’s not the biggest thing. She needs to know that it’s tainting her own self and conscience. I never used to feel guilty until I talked to the lunch lady and heard how it was affecting her own personal life.I would recommend giving her oppurtunites to get the money that she feels that she needs to steal through chores and maybe even a part-time or summer job. Those things would’ve helped me a lot during that time of my life.Good luck and I hope this helps.

How can a 10-year-old make money?

I started a comic book rental store when I was 10!(Apologies to all those who can't read Hindi but its an assortment of local Hindi heroes most famous at that time, many inspired from Marvel, DC, etc characters like Tiranga from Captain America, Rajan Iqbal from Hardy Boys, Nagraj from Spiderman who actually squirted Snakes in place of webs, Fauladi Singh: his name was inspired from Iron Man but nowhere his character was; whereas Bankelal, Chacha Chaudhary were proudly indigenous.)It is a first hand experience of what I did in one of my summer holidays back when I was probably 10 or 11, in the last years of my memories when kids were still interested in reading and before the evil clutches of cable TV and Pokemon took over their tender minds. We, i.e me and one of my neighbourhood friends (both big comic book collectors) decided to put our comics on rent to local readers. The usual reaction of our parents, like most of Indian parents, was to better concentrate on our studies. But we just don't know how they agreed to the idea and we stacked all our comic stock in my dad's garage. No pamphlets or door-to-door canvassing, the word spread and we had customers right from the very first day and by the time we 'closed down' the "start-up" (obviously at the end of the summer holidays!) we had collected a few hundred rupees charging a rupee for comic book and two rupees for a magazine and a comic digest, both applicable for a day, charges doubling on the very next day.The venture highlights (Or the DO's and DON'T s)1. We didn't ask our parents any money (in fact we even didn't needed any!).2. We penalized two of our initial customers who were helpers in local shops where noons were hot and very lazy (who would have later on bought much more business) for returning late a few comics they borrowed. They never returned. (A hard lesson, probably for lifetime.)3. We lost a few of our books to local kleptomaniacs who would come to chit chat and would be off with one or two of out titles. We came to know about this once we noticed that few of our digests are missing. And what we did with the money we made? The money we made went to buy cricket balls and other stuff we needed as we formed a local cricket club recently then .This question bought back so many memories about the time when I was really mad about comics (I still am!). Thanks for asking this question....

What's the most embarrassing thing you've ever done for money?

When I was a 15 year old girl, I would give boys in my school handjobs for money. It was the easiest way to make money. Most boys would cum within 3 minutes and I would get 20 dollars for each handjob. I used to give about ten handjobs a day. That is 200 dollars. 1000 dollars in a week is a lot of money and I never had to pay taxes. None of the boys dared share my money-making secret, so the school never found out. The question mentions “embarrassing”, but it wasn’t to me. I did this for two years. I made so much money. I didn’t give 10 handjobs a day constantly. Sometimes it was 5 times a day, 10 times on a good day, and occasionally 15 to 20 times a day. I have even jerked off two guys at once, having one in each hand. Most of the time, I did my work in the boys locker room during lunchtime while no one was in gym class. Other times I would use a small closet underneath a staircase in a small hallway. There was never a shortage of boys needing to get off. I was really fortunate in that I was never once caught by teachers. I do remember the school janitor almost caught me. I was in the locker room jerking off this one guy. I always made the guys sit when I would jerk them off, to limit any cumshots from getting on me. They would usually cum on their own stomachs or thighs. I would only get a little on my hand. While I was jerking him off, I heard the outer door to the locker room open, and me and the boy hurried into a closet where all of the gym equipment os stored. The janitor walked past the door to empty the trash and then he left. So, I decided to finish the handjob in the closet while he was standing and made him aim away from me. I didn’t want cum on my clothes. I basically stood behind him and reached around to jerk him off. My income ranged between 800 too 1100 dollars a week. Multiply that by 4 weeks and that is why I enjoyed it so much. What 15 year ld wouldn’t want 4 thousand dollars a month? When I bought my first car, it was brand new. I lived with my dad and I used to pretend I was babysitting, so that he didn’t wonder where my money came from. I’m an adult now and I wish I could make money from handjobs, again. It was the easiest money I have ever made.

What chores should a teen/kid have for $20 a week in allowance?

Take care of pets, dishes, their own laundry (and maybe towels. Everyone uses towels.) Trash, keep fridge cleaned from old food, keep room clean, help with yard work, shovel snow, sweep bare floor areas and vacuum carpeted areas. Not everything has to get done every day. As long as the house stays consistently clean, that should be enough.

How to deal with non - horsey parents?

Or, as I should say, a non - horsey PARENT. My dad doesn't mind horses, and my mom thinks it's ridiculous to want a horse. I want a horse so badly, and wouldn't mind leasing a horse instead of having my own, or even just riding lessons in general. As long as I get my horsey time. My mom thinks riding is stupid. My dad thinks otherwise, but he still isn't horse crazy. How do I deal with a non horsey mom? I really want a horse and don't even mind mucking out stalls and feeding. I actually like the smell of horse manure (call me gross but it's nostalgic for me) and I've been riding before, just never formal lessons with a trainer (my aunt had a horse and took me riding several times) I don't mind giving up other activities and I don't mind even if I get permission from others to brush their horses as well as get them tacked up. I've brushed MANY horses and tacked MANY horses. But, my mom won't buy my idea. I have $2,500 in the bank and have found many cheap horses" for around $1,000 Then, I am willing to muck stalls and stuff for board, and buy used tack instead of new if it's possible to find some good used tack around my area. I am also planning on working for money to take care of my horse.... How do I convince them?
