I Recently Got A Ferret And The Pamphlet And Health Certificate Say Completely Different Things

Does Marshal Ferret Farms?

If the ferret dies before the 1 year guarantee of health problems that you didn't cause, and you have fed their terrible quality food for that year, then they will replace the ferret. What they do- you bring the dead ferret to the pet store along with the lable of the most recent box of Marshall kibble, they take the dead one, and then let you pick a new one. The dead one will be shipped to Marshalls for testing and then it will probably be thrown away. It's a terrible guarantee as your old baby's body will be cut open and messed with, then brought to the local dump.

Marshall's won't replace the ferret if it didn't die of a disease that the ferret came with or was genetic. So, if the ferret died of distemper or ADV then it will probably not be replaced, as the ferret may not have came to you with that illness. My first Marshall ferret died 7 months after I got her, and it was from a disease she came with. I still didn't return her as I wanted her body and I took her off of their food as soon as I possibly could.

Ferrets from Marshall's aren't as healthy as a quality breeder ferret is. They are smaller, and typically get sick earlier than a quality breeder. Of course, there are some great Marshall ferrets that have lived to be 12, but most die ealier- heck, my first died at 9 months old! There are also some quality breeder ferrets that die young, it all depends on the individual ferret. Most likely, though, you're not going to find a quality ferret from Marshall's. They do not care about the ferret, they care about their profit.
