I Recently Had My Braces Taken Off And My Teeth Don

Getting braces off. I don't think my teeth are ready?

okay well to start off with...its good you wanted to fix your teeth :)

sometimes when braces are on your teeth and its drawing the end of treatment time people start to see things in their teeth that aren't actually happening...you say that one of your front teeth is sticking out more than the other one? well sometimes it might just draw your attention. try get a piece of bread or cake or something that leaves bit marks. bite into it making an impression then take your teeth out before you take a proper bite of it. look at it...it should be a perfect arch if not you will notice the front tooth is out of the arch. this is a good test. :) try it.

its not actually natural to have both jaws resting on top of each other.. the top jaw is supposed to sit JUST
please make sure that you tell your orthodontist that you arent happy with your progress and make sure that he doesnt take you braces off until your happy with your smile. because they cost alot...especially for you paying money towards it also. because getting your braces off is supposed to be a happy time...but dont worry to much because anything really small that isnt perfect will be fixed by your retainers :)

make sure you wear your retainers after you get your braces off...because this will be very critical to you as your teeth might relapse (return to the same state before you got braces) and all your time and money would have been wasted!

What would happen if I took my braces off after three months? Would my teeth return to how they were before, or would they end up looking worse?

Hey there! I wore braces in my teenage years, and every month for the first year I wanted to have them removed, but each time, my pediatric dentist said no - and for good reason, as it turned out. In my 5th month, I ran into a bad problem with my gums, so my pediatric dentist (s/o to the ever-patient, but unrelenting Dr. Gep and orthodontist Dr. Gawlik of Woodbridge Kids where I grew up in ) had to take off my braces to let my gums heal. It was bad, I can tell you that, and not only was the alignment of my teeth still uncorrected (their positions haven’t shifted as much as it had only been a few months since I had my braces on), but my teeth actually started to shift back to their old, crooked position. So yes, if that happened to me at 5 months, imagine what can happen in 3.I don’t think any good dentist will prescribe braces, let alone allow their removal just after 3 months, I think it’s for at least 8–10 months. If you’re having oral care/health issues, consult your dentist. Only severe problems like mine required temporary removal. If anything, removing your braces this early will make the treatment useless. But it’s going to pay off in the long run; trust me, I capitalize on my now straight and nice teeth and smile to earn a living.

Just had my braces taken off, but my teeth are moving back already?!?

I had my braces taken off a couple of days ago, but i have to wait another couple of days to get a plate fitted in the back of them (it acts like a permanent retainer i'm guessing). However, after one day and night of having my braces off, one of my front teeth have moved back slightly already! I don't know whether to tell the orthodontist that im not happy with it, or will the plate move it back? Its only moved a tiny bit so i feel silly for being so OCD about it, but i've had braces for so long so just want them to be perfect! Anyone know?

Braces off after 8 Months?

I've had my braces since the end of January, and my orthodontist said they can come off in a month. Not even like a "we'll see how they are in a month". I have a broken bracket and he decided not to repair it seeing as he is so certain that they're coming off. I'm stoked, but is this normal? Or am I some teeth freak of nature?

I got my braces off 2 days ago, but don't get my retainer until 10 days from now. Will my teeth move a lot?

Retainer, which must be worn routinely after treatment in order to hold your teeth in their proper, new position while your gums, ligaments and bones adapt. There are several types of retainers,Hawley RetainersThe Hawley retainer is one of the most common types of retainers. It is a removable retainer made of a combination of a metal wire that typically surrounds the six anterior teeth and is designed to keep your teeth in place. This retainer is made from impressions of your teeth so that it fits snugly and comfortably in the roof of your mouth, while the wire and acrylic framing keeps your teeth in an ideal position. The acrylic can also be personalized with a large number of colors or patterns.Essix (Clear) RetainersThe Essix retainer is a transparent removable retainer that fits over the entire arch of your teeth. This clear or transparent retainer fits over the entire arch of teeth and is produced from a mold. Similar to Invisalign’s clear aligner trays, Essix retainers have no metal or wires. They can also be used to produce minor tooth movements and can be helpful in prevention of tooth wear due to tooth grinding at night.Bonded RetainersBonded lingual retainers are cemented directly to the inside surface of your lower canines. As with removable retainers, it is important to keep your bonded retainers clean. When brushing, make sure to carefully clean the inside of your lower teeth, as well as the wire itself. The retention phase of treatment begins when the patient’s braces are removed. Retainers are worn full time, typically for the first nine months, except while eating. Retainers should also be removed before brushing your teeth.Visit your dentist and fix your retainers as soon as possible.

Braces coming off but teeth still crooked?

My teeth were never bad to begin with, just minor things and my braces helped a lot but they are still a little bit crooked. I have had my braces on for a little over nine months and I think it was three weeks ago, I had an appointment and the orthodontist just looked at my teeth and said my braces could come off the next day or whenever. My mom called and made a new appointment which is going to happen in like a week so the orthodontist can double check.

So I was just wondering, since my teeth are only a little crooked, will the retainer help that? I was supposed to have my braces on for two years but it has been nine month. Should my teeth be perfect when my braces come off or just pretty close?

Also, I brush my teeth twice a day and I do the other thing that looks like a christmas tree every night. Do the braces leave little yellow squares where they were. lol i'm just wondering.

I took off my braces and there is glue still stuck on my teeth , how do I get it off?

My ortho. took them off and I told him that some glue is still on my teeth but he said it would off in time but its been 7 months and I think he was lieing to me.

Bottom braces just off, dentist said I don't need a retainer. Is this true?

After two years, I got my bottom braces taken off. My dentist told me I don't need a retainer and didn't give me one.

It's the first time I hear of someone taking off their braces and not using a retainer. My friend told me I should go to another dentist and get a retainer. I'm worried and I don't want to have to deal with braces again.

What should I do?

How do dentist take braces off?

They don't, the assistant does most of it. Once you have paid, the orthodontist spends little time with you. The assistant does everything, and neither one is responsible or accountable for anything.I am sure that there are some responsible orthodontists that attend to the patient themselves, however most orthodontists do not do that at all. In fact, they document as little as possible about the teeth when the braces come off, because they know that the teeth often will not stay in the corrected position. When the teeth relapse, they will try to blame the patient for not wearing the retainer. If that is proven false, ( and it shows by the gum line around the retainer, and the fit of the retainer ), they will deny that the teeth have moved. Since they do not take a permanent impression, do not do intraoral photographs, throw away the retainer impression, and avoid a panoramic xray on day of removal, the patient is left with no recourse after years of time, effort, pain, and thousands of dollars to losing the desirable result that was there at time of removal. It is one of the biggest fraudulent multi-milliondollar scams going on in the United States. They should go to jail in my opinion.Patients, document the final result immediately! Demand a permanent impression be made & die cast when the braces are removed, and make sure you are in possession of it. Go to a separate dentist and pay for it yourself if necessary, along with a panoramic xray, (you must verify that the roots are in the right direction at time of removal), full exam, intraoral photos, and documentation of any and all defects present at time of removal. Document contacts, bite ( ask for occlusal paper test & document ), do bite wing xrays ( xrays done while braces are on will not show caries on molars because the braces hide it, so these are useless ), get a cleaning, and document gum condition. Most importantly, wear the retainer. Wear it as much as possible for the first year, no matter what they say.Remember, they have made their money. You are taking up a chair and their time after the braces come off. They do not care if your teeth move. Have proof that you are not to blame. Have proof of how the teeth were when they removed them.

Will my teeth go back to how they were when I had braces if I put my retainer back on?

If it's been 6 months and you have not used your retainer in that entire time, it may not fit any longer. Your teeth will shift even if you had braces if you don't wear the retainer. I had braces and had a straight smile on the top and bottom teeth. I hated my retainers and did not wear them religiously causing me to hate them even more when I would put them in because they would hurt. So I stopped wearing them. My parent's should have saved their money because my teeth look like they did before I ever got the braces.
