I Ripped A Tendon In My Upper Right Leg Years Ago And I Think It Didn

Achilles tendon pain?

for the past few days my achilles tendon has been hurting. it hurts to flex my foot. i tried just stretching it out but it puts me in more pain afterwards. i didnt do anything (that i know of) to cause this. also the tendons on the top of my foot connecting to my leg constantly feel like they need to be stretched so i stretch them and i am in a little pain then and i end up staying up all night because it bothers me.
i had a really bad ankle sprain a few years ago but it got better through physical therapy. (the sprain was on the inside and the top of my foot connecting to my leg)
what is wrong?? what should i do???
thanks in advance

8 year old Sons has a knee meniscus tear what do you think?

I would get a second opinion and also another xray. If he has a fractured bone on his tibia or fibula, he would be aware of what caused it. He wouldnt just start complaining for the fracture. Those bones are fairly strong and at his age can take alot of abuse, more than an adult.

Meniscus tears suck because they can be very painful and can also lock the knee if the tear is a bucket handle tear. It does not have to be fixed but can be discomforting and will cause arthritis.

The only way it can be fixed is through surgery. The meniscus can't regrow. It can't heal its self. It is cartilage, not a muscle or ligament/tendon. The only treatment your doctor has issued is for the "fracture". Your son will still have pain and discomfort due to the meniscus.

If he is very active and is going to be playing sports up till college then get it fixed!!!

What does it feel like to rip a tendon?

When I was playing netball in the rain I ran to get the ball and my ankle just gave out because of the angle I was running while trying to pick up the ball from the ground. My ankle rolled outwards to the left but my body fell to the right. I felt a kind of snap in my ankle and heard a really loud pop, and my whole body suddenly slammed into the concrete like my leg was suddenly paralysed and couldn't hold me up anymore. It's not the same as a pop from breaking a bone, I'd describe it as a more wet (sorry) sounding pop. I went to the hospital and was sent home with a purple and black foot and crutches. I didn't listen to the doctor however and played after two weeks. Not even a month after tearing my tendon I was playing on the same court at the same time of day, and my partner pushed me. The pop wasnt as loud but I felt it and immediately knew what had happened. This time it was excruciating. I curled up into a ball and was in too much pain to move. I had to get carried to my mum's car (I didn't want to make my family pay for an ambulance) and found out I'd torn another tendon. I cried a lot the second time, and almost threw up. I guess it really depends on the tendon or ligament but I wouldn't wish it on anybody.

How long does it take for an ankle ligament tear to heal completely?

If u are not diabetic or a smoker and have a severe grade 3 strain, the first month will be brutal, the first 4 months, will be hard. That ligament is far from your heart, with small vessels and will continue to heal for 18 months! Generally swimming or riding a bike, is done before running, before tennis, basketball, are soccer. It will be important to re-train the proprioception and balancing on the ankle. One simple exercise in time, will be standing on just the one injured leg and then doing the same with your eyes closed. Good luck!

What happens if you don't get a Tetanus shot after getting cut with rusty metal?

Maybe nothing. But you could get tetanus, and once you get it, even if they manage to save you, you may still wish you had died. Dying of tetanus may be the most painful way to die on the planet. Here is a painting done in 1809 of a person dying of tetanus. Painting done by his doctor. The position is called opistothonus. Why does he look like this? Your muscles ‘fire’ to contract, i.e., shorten. Then a chemical in your muscles is released to relax your muscles. What the tetanus toxin does is to prevent that chemical from being released, so your muscles fire, contract, and NEVER LET GO.Back muscles are stronger than stomach muscles, so you arch your back.If you are in really good shape, too bad, because you leg muscles can contract so strongly that they will BREAK. YOUR. THIGH. BONES, the strongest bones in your body.Imagine a ‘Charley Horse’ in every muscle in your body, 24 hours a day, for days on end.And there is almost nothing that can be done to spare you. Eventually, your diaphragm contacts, and never lets go, so you quit breathing.Getting to this blissful stage often takes 3 days. 3 days of the worst pain imaginable.(BTW, we know the chemical that’s released, and could give it to you, but then, you would stop breathing, which presents it’s own set of problems)Personally, I think the vaccine shot is the way to go, but hey, to you anti-vaxxers out there, it’s your call. Just don’t do this to your kids, please.BTW, the bacteria that causes tetanus, Clostridium tetani, is a common soil living bacteria. It’s in the ground everywhere. It’s NOT rust that causes tetanus, but a rusty nail indicates it’s been in contact with the soil for a period of time, and thus likely has C. tetani on it.C. Tetani is an anaerobic bacteria, meaning that Oxygen is poisonous to it. If you get a scratch, tetanus is very, very unlikely, because of the Oxygen. But a puncture, like from a nail, creates an oxygen-free atmosphere in the wound, just perfect for C. Tetani to grow and thrive.Tetanus can be ‘treated’ today, but 2/3 of patients still die, and those that survive typically spend 6–8 weeks in the hospital, mostly on a ventilator, with about 3–4 weeks in a induced coma, followed by 4–6 months in rehab. Personally, I think getting the vaccine is easier.BTW, there is a variation of this disease called infantile tetanus. New borns can get it from, for example, non-sterile scissors used to cut their umbilical cord. I will spare you the pictures.

I pulled a muscle in my upper back..?

When I was figure skating today I was doing some hard spins, like biellmans, and I think I did too many, and now my left upper back hurts. My coach did some stretches with me, and that hurt. So my friend suggested I get a heating pad or an icyhot or something and put it on. I had it on for 8 hours like you're supposed to, and my back still hurts. It hurts to even rotate my body a little to the right and the left.. and it hurts to lie down.
Does anyone have any advice to make my back feel better?

Thanks so super much!!

My right knee feels like something is pulling on it and it hurts when I bend, what is it?

you could have caught a tendon or ligament in your kneecap or in the bone in an awkward way?
i'd say that you should ice it on and off (twenty minutes on, twenty minutes off) for 24 hours and then the next 24 hours ice 20min, heat 20min.
you probably shouldnt run and you should definitely tell your doctor. just tell your friends what happened and if they have a certain sense of humor you may get joked about as to how you hurt yourself running to prove to them you could run ... but you'd much rather get joked about then end up ripping a tendon and needing surgery.
it may not be serious at all, but you want to make sure by going to a doctor. at least call your doctor on the phone and talk about it.

Pulled hamstring or what please help?

Yesterday in dance I was stretching and did my splits, it was fine on the right and then I did my left. As soon as I was completely on the ground there was a pop in my upper thigh like right below my butt and i read somewhere that's a sign of it being pulled, now it hurts pretty much on the whole back of my thigh, so is it a pulled hamstring? If so what do I do? I can walk on my leg, it only hurts slightly, I iced it yesterday and I'm going to again as soon as im home from school and then wrap it. I'm sitting out at dance today but when can i return? Also when it heals will my flexibility be ruined? Can i ever do a split on that side again??
