How come my FaceBook Search never works?

I was earlier today trying to search for a classmate, but was surprised when no results turned up for her name. Thinking that maybe she had her page set to private, I didn't think much of it and moved along with my day. However, I've just now started to realize that, no matter what name I search for, I'm returned with literally zero results. Even if I type "Bob" or "Joe" into the search box, I get back this message:

No results found for your query.
Check your spelling or try another term.

What can I do to fix this? It's really annoying. I tried clearing my history, trying different browsers and disabling AdBlock, but nothing has worked.

What does "-4^(1/4)" mean and why is it connected to porn?

(only anon because I want "[my name] pornography" to have zero google hits at least until I have tenure)Note: this answer has been updated several times as I've experimented further and responded to comments.I highly doubt those results are coming from that formula per se, as altering the search to something like "1 4" -4gives identical results.  Try it out yourself:http://www.google.com/#q=%221+4%...In other words, the search is really saying something like"Find me pages which containing a 1 next to a 4, but which do not contain a 4."That is, the minus sign is being interpreted as an "exclude" operator, just like you can search for "apple -computer" to get information about the fruit. The following searches each give different results, but nearly all the results are pornographic."1 2" -1"1 2" -2"9 8" -9"h 3" -h"15 12" -12"apple 1" -apple"apple 1" -1I now believe this may be some kind of bug in Google's indexing.  If you give it something obviously contradictory, likewalk -walkthen you'll get no results, but if you come up with more clever versions of contradictory searches it seems to spew out whatever it can come up with.  Maybe what's happening is just that a randomly selected webpage has a very high probability of being a porn site.On the other hand, it's not altogether that simple, because the following queries return nothing:"q z" -q"apple taxicab" -apple"idspispopd 1" -1The first one at least appears to be the fault of some kind of DWIMmery on Google's part, as it seems to have silently contracted the letters into "qz."Also, given that the search terms alter the results but don't appear on the pages, I think they're coming not from the page text but are possibly inferred from inbound links to these pages.  I.e. imagine a page of photos of butterflies with no text and no relevant filenames.  Google could still identify this page as having something to do with butterflies if lots of inbound link to the site used the term.  So the patterns "1 2," "apple 1," etc. might be randomly generated by porn SEO bots as link titles and/or metadata.

If i want to advertise something really well what do i do (cant be on tv or anything tho)?

It depends on the product or service you are promoting and who you are targeting it to....

Different "demographic groups" respond to different types of advertising and marketing approaches. You have to figure out what the people you want to sell to like doing and where they like doing it - then place your ads/messages in those places so they see them.

You must keep your pitch clear, simple and benefit-oriented. That is, benefit to the potential buyer - not to you!

The pricing expenses for advertising can run from zero to a lot. What you pay should be determined by how much you have to sell & earn to make a profit. Because your advertising costs will be deducted from your revenues.

My Google Search Console is not showing any data for its Analytics. Is there something wrong?

As we read in Search Console Help :If you still don't see any data, it may be for one of these reasons:If you are seeing no data for the site Example Domain, it may be because you have added your site using http://example(.)com. To Google, these are entirely different sites. If you feel like you're missing some data, add both the www and the non-www version of your domain to your Search Console account. Take a look at the data for both sites. If you see no data in the Crawl Errors report, it may be because Google simply didn't find any problems. That's great news—but we encourage you to check back regularly. If you see no data in the Search Analytics report, it may be because people aren't yet clicking on your site in search results. Check out possible reasons why your site may not be performing well in search. If you see no data in the Sitemaps report, consider helping Google discover content on your site by creating and submitting a Sitemap.
