My son is suicidal and I need to know my options.?
My son just turned 14. In May him and his gf broke up and he has been talking about killing himself every since. I have suffered from depression and panic disorder since I was a teen so I know that depression is real. The problem I am having is that his father does not believe that this is serious or that depression is a real illness, he thinks that people do not really kill themselves when they say they want to die but that they are just looking for attention. His father and I split a long time ago because of this. My son decided to move in with his dad so he wouldn't have to see the girl that broke his heart and I agreed. Now he lives with his dad but we have joint custody. I want to take my son to the nearest hospital and tell them what is going on but his dad and his new wife thinks that they can just pray for him and take him to church and it will go away by itself. I do not believe this way period. I am afraid that we will find him dead somewhere while they are trying to "pray it out of him" as they so eloquently put it. If I go ahead and take him to the ER everybody is going to jump down my throat because he will be missing school if they hospitalize him which they will. My son will be angry because he will miss a few football games and he just made the team. I am so confused on what to do, I do not want to start a big fight but I want to know my son is ok. Can anyone give me advice?

You may think i am out of my mind but my husband and i only use the pull out method. Have been for 6 years now. (We only have one child whom is 6 years old) The pull out method has worked for us but the one time we did not use it i got pregnant which was in 2005 but i miscarried. We have used it even since then and i have not gotten pregnant or even thought i was pregnant. I believe he must be a master at it at knowing exactly when to pull out and i am telling you i have been thrown off of him a couple of times (lol) but see we don't know for sure if we want anymore kids or not. I am almost 28 years old and i have one child, i am sure i would have more if we were not careful. People claim that the withdrawl method doesn't work but it does for us. You know all of the birth control out there and you know what it may do to you, this is something you will have to decide. I am scared to have another baby also cause my pregnancy was horrible. I had pre-eclampsia, threw up from 2 months until i had my son at 35 weeks which he was healthy and did not require special medical attention in the hospital (He got out the same day as me -had a c-section) I only gained 11 pounds during my pregnancy. I got my medical records not long ago about the birth and found out i have a uterine septum that can cause miscarriages and pre-term labor. It is scary thinking if you get pregnant again it will be like the last time but it may not be but i sit and think what if though, you know? Sorry so long, got me thinking... Hope you decide. I hate school so much. Do I have options?
"forget in 2 months" is your problem. You don't care about your mind. If you cared about your mind--more important than your physical appearance, which you care much about--you would like school, and would be eager to learn new things. And cut out the drama. Saying you dislike school is enough, but "can't take this anymore" is much. The government can and will make you "take" it. Maybe a change of attitude would garner some new friends, and you wouldn't hate the social aspect of school. Remember, you can either go through school and on to college and only work a 40 hr/wk job, or you can drop out and have to work many part-time jobs. Your choice. EDIT: The poster below me is, simply, a liar. Count the Forbes 400 members without a high school diploma. And you do have to have a high school diploma to work for 99% of major corporations, unless it's something like sweeping sidewalks. These "examples" are exceptions. If he's really a real estate developer, he had some money to start with--28 year old high school drop outs can't get in on the real estate game without starting money. It does not make you intelligent to hate school--professors are the most intelligent demographic, with at least 6 years of college. High school drop outs are the least intelligent. He's also wrong about teachers' salary; my mother is a teacher. He hasn't been to college, why trust him about it? Your major is how you are taught to think. Go through college, for your own sake.

I don’t know where this message that there are no other options, is coming from, such as pressure from family or the father of the baby, or whether there is a serious health issue with either you or the baby.Many times women are told that abortion is a sort of freedom and that they are fortunate to have this “choice” but when there is no support for them to continue the pregnancy it really isn’t a choice.So, they end up being coerced into abortion. I am in my sixties and have had to sit with too many grieving women who had abortions almost half a century ago and now try to comfort them.It seems a terrible risk to take, that one might carry that pain for fifty or more years. Yes, I have heard the tales of many who say they aren’t bothered a bit, but since you are ALL READY upset, I fear you may be in the category of women who fifty years from now grieve the loss.I have no idea where you are.
