I shoplifted and now my parents hate me?
i don't know why i did it. it was a bad mistake. i regret it so much. my parents are so disappointed firstly because i skipped school to go to the mall and secondly because i shoplifted. i only took something small it was worth like 5$. but my mom still had to come and pick me up. she had to leave work early, lie to her boss, and come to pick me up because i'm not legal age yet. she was so angry and my dad was too. they both work a lot to give us what we have and now they think i take it all for granted. my parents are well-off but they got that way by working so hard. and i feel so bad that i shoplifted. it was so stupid of me and impulsive. anyways i don't know how to say sorry. i was thinking maybe i can write a letter? but i'm not very good with words. and there is this graduation party on friday to which i was supposed to be going and now they said i can't go. i really do regret it and i want them to forgive me. not only because i want to go to the party but because i feel really bad, like i've disappointed them so much. just last night they were talking about how i was such a good kid. i've tried apologizing like twice but my mom just starts to yell at me everytime i try to say sorry, thats why i thought writing a letter and leaving it on her desk would be a good idea. what are some other ideas? and what can i say in the letter so she really does know how sorry i am? what is something i can do to get them to forgive me.

I have a friend who is a retail theft consultant and answers such questions privately for no fee in most cases. He says what it seems your talking about is Diversion. These programs vary and are not available everywhere so ask your Attorney. Fact you had to be bailed out suggest this might be more than a simple shoplift charge He adds it was unwise to name store or admit to crimes on public forum
How do shoplifters get caught after the fact?
I was indicted 2 years after the fact in a theft from Wal-Mart. The actual theft was a success, however due to video cameras, social media, AND physical evidence they were able to pin the theft.This is my theory on how you can get charged after the fact. Say you're stealing something, and you get away with it, however you are on security footage, sure they can ID you by your image, but can they determine what you stole and how much it cost by video footage alone. Furthermore do they have any evidence that you did indeed steal the item. Let's face it, if you dont have the item currently, you can tell them you never did it, and it's your word vs. A video camera. It's not sufficient evidence to charge someone with theft. So now say you steal an item, but you take it out of the wrapper and you leave the wrapper behind, you get out of the store, BUT now you are on camera AND they have a physical representation of items stolen. This is enough to charge you with theft, the same can be said for those attempting to steal, who are stopped on the way out the door, if you run, you still can be charged with theft… if you leave evidence behind. And most loss prevention will not stop the pursuit until they have their merchandise..
Shoplifted, didn't get caught, but i'm still scared.?
don't judge me. don't tell me i shouldn't have done it. i know, i will never ever do it again. i'm just scared of what could happen. i casually slipped L'OREAL true match blush into my purse and when i looked up, there was a security camera. i've heard that sometimes the cameras aren't even on, it's just there to scare you, but i'm still scared. what's going to happen to me? what should i do? thank you so much.
Do I have any chance to be caught now if I shoplifted from a nearby small store a year and four months ago?
I’ve been living in a medium sized town for 4 years. Since I moved here I noticed a picture of a woman shoplifting outside the windows of a store. It’s been four years and the picture is still there but nothing has ever happened to her.The probability of you getting caught is a small one, however is still possible if you go back to the store and they recognize you.Maybe go to the place and apologize to the owner and offer to pay for anything you stole. That’s better than living with guilt for the rest of your life.
Will I get caught shoplifting?
if by chance a camera did see you steal the item, it would have to have to see you take it and all the way to the exit where you left (100% continuity, unlikly, if they dont have 100% continuity they cant prove beyond a reasonable dout you did have the item when you left). no continuity no arrest, if someone on the other hand was watching the tape they still cant arrest you, they could exercise the right to bar you from the store, but more then likely they would simply have someone keep a close eye on you next time.. IMHO if you dont want to go to jail for a summary conviction offence DONT STEAL! as for what loretta said, DO NOT take the items back, this is a corporation they do not care about your honesty.. if you bring the items back, you willing had over direct evidence (technically trace evidence too.. finger prints, but they wouldnt apply in this case) to the company, all the company is going to care about is conviting you, if you go back you willingly arrested yourself, as for if you enter the store, they CANNOT simply arrest you, its against your rights. if they tried to arrest you simply because you went back into the store you can press charges and SUE the company, not smart on there behalf, and thirdly its a corporation, you are not stealing from the employees LASTLY I DO NOT CONDONE THEFT ITS EXTREMLY AGAINST MY MORALS, i was stupid once uppon a time too... i suggest you use this as your chance to learn your lesson out of self pity, and regret
I shoplifted and feel TERRIBLE. Help please!?
Today I drove to CVS and stole a... male... item... It costed no more than 9 dollars, but I feel terrible! I tried praying to god for forgiveness but I feel horrible I am 17. Please don't simply say "Just return it" I wasn't caught, but I left the empty box in the bathroom in the trashcan, and left. I'm worried they will find it, look over the tape, and catch me! Now the questions: Do you think I'll get caught? How can I help myself to not feel guilty? Is stealing from a store once common for my age? Thanks in advance!
