I Steal From Work Occasionally Will I Get Caught

What happens if you are caught stealing at work?

Almost certainly you would be terminated immediately ‘for cause’ without severance pay (although they still have to pay you unused vacation in most jurisdictions). Security will be called to make sure you leave without taking any organization property with you, which would include any computer or phone they gave you, etc., You will be marked as ‘do not rehire’ and, if asked in a reference check, the organization will almost certainly say you are noted as ‘do not rehire,’ which will signal to prospective employers that there is some reason they may not want you either. They probably won’t specifically say you were fired for stealing, but they might and, if they have proof, there is nothing you could do about it. And, as others have noted, they may well call in the police, lay out the evidence and ask the police to charge you with theft.

Caught stealing at work, what will happen?

The other day I was asked to sit down at work with a man from the company's loss prevention department. He went on a long chat about the stresses of life and a job could push someone into stealing. He told me they had videos of me taking some bottled water and a Sprite and not paying for them. I admitted to this happening because he made it sound like there wouldn't be any punishment if I was honest and agreed to pay for it. I wrote a statement saying I would do restitution (pay the amount back to the company) which in total was $4.47. He said before any of the admitting went down that there was always a probability that the company could press charges. I was then fired because of their strict policy on theft.
I've been worrying constantly and getting sick over it. Is it a good possibility that the company would press theft charges for such a small amount of money? If so, what would happen? I understand court and paying that back, perhaps a fine. But what about jail? I am 20 years old. I was wondering if anyone had any ideas of the potential outcomes. I am sorry about it and yes, I know it was stupid...

Is it possible to get caught stealing ... ?

theirs always a chance.
I'm extremely intelligent about stealing but i got caught
it took many try's at the same store(target) till i finally got caught and got a 300$ ticket, but its a good thing its a store ticket and it doesn't go on your perm record.
but yeah
everyone always gets caught and stores have undercover staff that find you stealing, their called secret shoppers.they look really casual

What can happen if your caught stealing from your job?

The same things that can happen to you if you get caught stealing anywhere. You can be arrested, put in jail, forced to post bail or stay in jail, go to trial some months later after losing your home, your car, your wife and friends. Just for grins you can go to prison for years, and get to meet your own personal Bubba.

If you dont report for work, your employer can fire you. If what you took belonged to the government, directly or indirectly, you can also spend some quality time in a federal prison.

Caught slacking off at work!?

This isn't just a job - it's YOUR job, and you are going to lose it if you don't change your attitude FAST. There aren't that many jobs where you get paid for doing nothing! Your manager must be a wonderful person to have given you another chance, so show him he was right to do so.

When you leave, your manager will be giving your next employer a reference. What do you want it to say?

Make sure your appearance is smart before you go to work. When you get to work (early!) look all round your kiosk outside, pick up rubbish, clean off dirty marks etc. This is your domain, all yours. Get a lump of pride in your throat and be determined to do a great job, so that it's the best kiosk in the whole world.

Look out at the world smiling, eager to catch the eye of potential customers. Make sure every product is in its place, the right way round, displayed to its best advantage. When people come to your kiosk, think what lovely people they are to be paying your wages, meet their eyes and smile, offer them extra products, speak clearly, have a little joke with them and make them feel special so they'll come to you next time.

When you have quiet times, tidy the inside of the kiosk, think about ways you could improve sales, and don't use your phone at all if you can help it, especially for the next few months.

I caught my maid stealing from me when I installed a hidden cam, should I call ?

i would confront her and if she is defensive and doesn't offer the money back, tell her you will call the police.

or better yet, blackmail her for one MILLLION Dollars (rubbing hands and giving the evil eye)

If a store employee is caught stealing money from their employer, how much effect does this have on their employability?

I gotta say it depends on the jobs, previous work history, and amount of theft, as well if they were charged.I made a stupid mistake with my first job, I obviously had no previous work history and I got charged. My first crime even though it was a misdemeanor I had to pay restitution (pay back what I took) and got 6 months probation. So now I have that on my background for 7 years (so far it's only been 3). Since I had no previous work history it's hard for me to find jobs, but add to that an actual crime where I stole from my employer (yes, I know, stupid). It is very hard to get a job in retail (or anything that handles money) and even some non-retail jobs won't hire me. I went to an agency where I talked to someone who handled the employment from that agency to a factory that deals with vegetables (or something like that) and was told they wouldn't even consider me. Seriously? I should add it was a chain store and I've been "banned" from all of them, so imagine not only not being able to get a job but also not being able to go somewhere you went to regularly. It's true not everyone will be prosecuted (it depends on the business) but you will most likely always have to put that employer on your resume and why you "left", I honestly leave it blank because I don't want to put that I was fired for theft. I already don't have a good work history, I'd rather talk about it in an interview and hopefully they'll undertand that I'm not that person. So you see, my advice would be: do NOT ever do anything to ruin your current employment by doing something you're not supposed to (like stealing) because there's always a chance that it will ruin future job opportunities even if it wasn't something big. Nobody wants to hire someone who previously stole from their employer. I work at a restaurant, trying to get a second job (it's not going well) and I have a small child and a husband to take care of (my husband can't work full time). You have to think about your future and decide what's more important; having $200 you can easily get from a register at work or having that job (or potentially better job) and not ruin your future employment. We learn from our mistakes but sometimes thinking things through and thinking about the future would be better to prevent mistakes.
