I Think Astronomers Are Finally Starting To See That Earth Is Alone In The Universe

Do you think that there are other life forms exploring the universe aside from humans?

Well, this question rings up the bells in my mind everytime I see this coz my heart always says yes, other life forms do exist but my mind completely denies it.Here's what happens when I see or hear this question.Heart: Yes. Surely other life forms exist.*Till now mind was sleeping and having a beautiful dream, but suddenly the bells start ringing up and the mind is ruffled and has got to leave it's sleep and wake up. So it is already annoyed.*Mind: Noo… not again.. not this topic please.. why does this question arise again and again.Heart: Woah !!! Look here comes the arrogant non-believer.Mind: Fuck u dude.. you have no idea about the difference between believing and just thinking whatever u want to. Actually I'm sorry.. just because u can't properly think that's why I had to exist. And about the other life forms, we don't literally have positive proofs. Everything some person says about UFOs has no real proof and might just turn out to be a conspiracy theory.Heart: But, people say something because they saw something.Mind: Oh …. U foolish bloody organ.. you don't know the types of people and their different tactics of gaining publicity. And even if someone saw some UFO really, then why did it disappear and didn't let others see it.Heart: Why can't you learn to respect people and believe in what they say ?Mind: Coz I have got you as a partner who believes in anyone, so I have to interfere to judge the thing properly and so I believe in evidence.Heart: But, those movies … they also get their ideas from somewhere … do you ever give a thought on that ..?Mind: Look who is talking to whom about giving thoughts. Yes the movies get their ideas from somewhere and that somewhere is imagination. I'm very strong and that's why I can take our master to different thoughts with my imagination power. And why do you think that aliens always have to be colourful and with very advanced technology as compared to us? Why can't they just look like us, or be black and white without large spiky ears and why can't they be technologically backward? And if they so advanced, then why haven't they given us any proper visits? Why do they not show their presence when we land our investigating robots on Mars?Heart: Maybe, they don't want us to know them.Mind: Blah.. blah.. blah..Heart: But… but … they exist and you will see that one day.Mind: Okay.. till then shut the fuck up and let me go to sleep and don't start this ever again…Thank you for reading this answer :)

I'm studying for my Astronomy Final and I can't figure out answers for a few of the questions. Please help me!?

1. There would have to be an acute angle between the moon, earth, and the sun to have a crescent moon shape. A half moon is at 90 degrees and more than 90 degrees would make the moon nearing a full moon.

2. 180 degrees between the moon, earth, and the sun. In other words, the earth is in a straight line between the moon and the sun.

3. Yes, a new moon is when the moon is directly between the earth and the sun. We see the dark side of the moon while the other side of the moon is lit up.

4. 90 degrees between the earth, moon, and the sun

5. You're talking about your nose's shadow on the ground right? At noon, ( from the northern hemisphere which the U.S. is in), your nose would be pointing north. Not sure what this question is asking, sorry.

6. Yes but barely. The sun is setting right when the full moon is rising. This is because the moon, earth, and the sun are in a straight line when the moon is full, so when the sun is on one horizon, the full moon is on the opposite horizon.

7. Right at sunset.

How did everything start? Aliens? 2012?

If there is a god how did god start?
If it was scientific was it just black and nothing at all?
It somehow seems like and un ending chain of events.
The things that started the big bang how did those start and the things that started the things that started the big bang how did those start.
And what about 2012?
Were ancient civilizations connected to aliens .
CROPCIRCLES related to ancient civilizations?
Cant we somehow make peace with aliens?
Cant we just forget about money and actually use our resources to discover new things about the universe.
Sorry if some of my questions are foolish im just a 13 year old curious child.
And aliens in the form of humans. How do we know some of our friends arent aliens and what about animals?

You can't create something from nothing, right?

Your terminology is fraught with technical peril. When you say "you can't create something from nothing" you are making two unjustified assumptions:

1. "Create" implies that something is being made by someone - it therefore implies a creator. You are therefore starting out by assuming that this was all created by someone or something. That is not necessarily accurate.

2. "Something from nothing" implies that we can clearly define what something means and that we understand what nothing means. This sounds like semantics BS, but you are, after all, trying to wrap your head around it. It is one thing to consider what material was there in the first place, but what if there was no such thing as time in which the material could exist? The fact that you are sitting there in front of your computer is a clear indication that something is coming from nothing - in terms of our perceived universe. The integrated circuits that provide the transistor functions within your computer utilize the virtual particles that pop in and out of existence at the quantum level of reality, and they do it constantly. That does not mean that this is how our current universe began. In fact, a recent article in Scientific American indicates that it is probably not how it began. This does nothing to contradict the Big Bang itself, which is pretty obviously accurate to even the most amateur astronomer or the most jaded skeptic. But the "something from nothing" scenario, while it is certainly possible in terms of quantum mechanics, may not be the best explanation for the initiation of the Big Bang (of course, the Big Bang Theory itself does not address the issue directly).

Ptolemy was important in the history of astronomy because he ________. was the first to believe that all orb?

Ptolemy was important in the history of astronomy because he ________.
A. was the first to believe that all orbits are perfect circles
B. developed the first scientific model of the universe
C. developed a model of the solar system that made sufficiently accurate predictions of planetary positions to remain in use for many centuries
D. was the first to create a model of the solar system that placed the Sun rather than the Earth at the center

Hypothetically speaking, If god took 7 days to create the Earth How long would it take to create the universe?

If a God could create things at the rate of 1 planet per week how long would it take to create everything that reaches further in to space. First of all, the galaxy and then universe? Has enough time elapsed since the beginning of the universe for this to happen?
I realize this question is full of impossible contradictions. I am not interested in a theological answer, or for someone to tell me "the stars were created on the seventh day" or something like that!! I am more the mathematics involved.
Thanks for any answers
