Are your taste buds really damaged for good if you drink soda with bleach in it.?
Bleach normally isn't used in things like that. A tiny amount won't kill you, and it might not even make you sick, but it certainly won't damage your taste buds forever. Taste buds are always shed and regrown anyway, like hair. When I lived home, I had a drinking glass that I would leave by the sink in the same spot. My mother used it to measure out bleach once, and put it back without washing it. I came into the kitchen, took my glass, filled it with water, and drank the whole glass in one go. I realized after I drank the whole thing what she did, and I yelled at her for SO long. I never got sick, and obviously didn't die. The taste wasn't nice, though.
I think I ruined my tongue/taste buds?
So I love eating sour stuff and spicy stuff and my taste buds are really big in the back I have two huge ones very very far back and they're big on the tip too but not so much in the middle. Basically my entire tongues taste buds are really big except for a little bit in the middle. I was eating a fun dip when I realized there was red on the stick. I checked in the mirror and the buds on the tip were bleeding like I could lift them up kinda as if they were falling/peeling off. I'm really scared they might be too big. Now anytime I eat something they start to bleed. I don't wanna tell my mom cuz she will just ban spicy and sour things from me. Is that the reason? Or is it some disorder? Please help cuz It stings if I eat anything spicy now and they start to bleed with basically any food I eat! When will they go back to normal? I rinsed my mouth with hydrogen peroxide it tasted horrible and it didn't really help. I think the roof of my mouth is messed up too. Please help idk what to do):
If I brush my tongue too hard and damage taste buds will they heal?
tongue is one of our body part that constantly regenerates the top layer. Similar is the story with taste buds. Brushing too hard will definitely destroy some of the buds. They will heal if you give enough time between scrubbing them too hard. So they will heal in between brushing. you rarely lose taste buds unless you obsessively brush round the clock to make the tongue smooth and shiny. Even then most taste buds are positioned in small crepts on the tongue surface. So its a lot of damage if you lose your taste buds
Can you permanently damage your tongue/taste buds from a burn?
No the damage is not permanent. There is no way that your tongue got burned so bad that the taste buds will not grow back. First off you would need some extreme heat! Like flame hot! secondly if it was so hot that it did permanent damage to your tongue it would of also be hot enough to do permanent damage to your esophagus on the way down to your stomach. Which you would of know as the local anesthesia that numbed your mouth does not numb your esophagus as well. So just give it time, only secondary to the tissue of the eye, the tongue is the second fastest healing part of your body. Cool huh?
Can eating hot (spicy) salsa damage a person's taste buds?
No. The chemical that makes chiles hot is called capsaicin, and amazingly it's absolutely harmless. How it works: it excites the nerve endings that sense heat, and makes them THINK that you're on fire, so the nerves tell the brain that you've been burned. But it is chemically similar to vanilla, and does no damage at all to nerves or other tissue. Note also that there's fundamentally nothing you can do for the chile burn -- it takes six minutes or so to break down the capsaicin that's already penetrated your tissues, and till then nothing you do will help. Cold helps slightly because it numbs the nerves, but when you warm up it's still there. You just have to wait and sweat it out.
Can chewing a clove of garlic cause damage to taste buds?
I have a sore throat, and one of the things I used to do when I was younger to relieve sore throats and colds is chewing small cloves of garlic for about half a minute, and swallowing them. I tried to repeat this just a little while ago, but the clove was rather large, and I feel as if my sense of taste has been diminished. Is it possible to damage my taste buds by chewing a raw clove of garlic?
Is scraping the tongue safe for my taste buds?
use a tongue scraper. if you are brushing your tongue with your toothbrush then you are getting all the bacteria from between your tastebuds into your toothbrush, it is extremely unhygienic. If you buy a tongue scraper it is NOT damaging to your tastebuds infact it probably clarifies your sense of taste a little too. Use it with fair vigour but in one direction...you will see the colour (ie all the bacteria), its disgusting, and it will change as you scrape out the bacteria. The whole process will be aided by using a good mouthwash too, something like 'Dentyl ph' which acts a bit like a magnet to bacteria and clumps it together then you spit it out and you know it's gone for good. Sorry to be so graphic. Good luck. =)
