I Think I Had An Allergy Reaction To This River What Could I Be Allergic To

Are German Shepherd really bad for allergies?

My parents are looking to get me a puppy for my birthday. I used to be very allergic to dogs but now the only thing that happens when I am around them is my neck gets a little itchy for a while. Ever since i was little i always wanted a German Shepherd. I love them and i've been doing research on them. I read that if you take certain measures like brushing them, bathing weekly, not letting them in certain rooms, vacuuming, sweeping, etc. that it will reduce the amount of allergen in your home and also on your pet. If i take all this into account and make sure I take theses "precautions" would i be able to live comfortably with a German Shepherd? And I know there are some dogs that are perfect for people with allergies but I only want a Shepherd. And if you have personal experience with this particular situation (if you are allergic and have a GS) I'd love to hear about it. Also i heard you can become immune to dog allergies if you spend enough time with them. But any help or tips on other things that can help me live comfortably with one i would be very appreciative. Thank you! :)

I have a shellfish allergy, would eating crawfish cause an allergic reaction?

As others have said, you won't really know unless tested. I have a friend that once had to go to the E.R. because I used the same spoon to stir seafood gumbo and chicken and sausage gumbo I was preparing for the evening service. They were both the same gumbo, just split the gumbo into separate pots, added shrimp, crabmeat, and oysters to one, then chicken and sausage to the other. I absent mindedly stirred both pots with the same spoon, that was all it took for my friend to have a reaction after sampling the chicken and sausage gumbo. He would also have reactions to crawfish if he so much as shook hands with anyone that had recently peeled them say, at a crawfish boil. He is allergic to any crustacean, including crawfish, so yes, you may be as well.

Dog allergic to concrete?

My husky has had an allergic reaction to something which has caused him to rip out lumps of his coat. It started on his legs and then his belly and then his sides and neck. The vet has treated him with pills and shampoo. He is still scratching and biting a little, usually when He wakes up so I am rubbing vaseline in the areas which seems to stop him. I am trying to work out what caused the reaction so I can prevent it happening again. I have changed his food and wash any mud off him when He comes in out of the river. it is possible it is a heat allergy as we live in the south of Spain. But it has just occurred to me that this all started shortly after I had my drive way concreted and I wondered if anyone has heard of a dog being allergic to concrete? He does like to lie on it next to the gate for long periods each day. I did think about putting a bed out there but he probably wouldn´t use it as He likes the cooler surface. Any help or ideas so I can get him back to full health and prevent it happening again would be most appreciated.

Is it possible to suddenly become allergic to something you weren't allergic to before?

Yes. I am 84yrs . Never had any allergies in any shape or form. 18months I went into a Dept store at lunch time and had mushroom soup; it didnt look like mushroom soup I'd had bvefore...looked gravy colour but could taste the mushroom.
Next morning I awoke with my face odd..thought Id had a stroke. This followed by cheek swelling and enormous trout mouth. Hospital confirmed allergic reaction. 6 weeks later ate lettuce after removing mushroom..same but quicker reaction. I've ate mushrooms all my life , even raw straight from fields....so answer i YES!!

Could a person be allergic to sand?

It is more likely that you are allergic to a substance found in the sand. Cats and other animals defecate in sandboxes, there are many things like sand fleas, etc living in beach sand. So unless you mean ‘pure’ sand, its really hard to say for sure.

I got some sun allergy... Whats its called, and what is the cure?

After I been in the sun for a few days, I got a bad sunburn on my back, arms, shoulders, etc because I was swimming. Then small bumps started developing, then more and more, now my whole top of my arm and a bit on my hand and shoulders is covered with red bumps. They itch quite a bit but I dont really care about that. It just looks terrible. I got it last summer too but it went away. I still wanna know what its called and possible treatments because I couldnt find anything related to "sun allergy".

How did you find out you were allergic to a certain type of food?

This is an odd question—because typically a food becomes your favorite after you’ve eaten it often/you eat it often because it’s your favorite. But if you’re allergic to a food—then you CAN’T eat it, so I’m not sure how it would become your favorite. If you’re asking ‘what happens when you BECOME allergic to your favorite food?’ it of course depends on exactly what happened. If for instance your favorite food is cinnamon buns but you develop an allergy to pecans and walnuts (they’re related), then the answer is ‘buy cinnamon buns without nuts,’ or ‘make them yourself.’ A lot of people develop celiac later in life (not an allergy, I know, but similar in that all of a sudden no more gluten after eating it for years) and so may have favorite foods taken away—but then they must simply adapt and learn to bake them (or buy them) without gluten. If your question is trying to get at ‘well how do I get this food BACK in my diet that I developed an allergy to?’ there IS actually a food allergy treatment that is being done pretty widely in the U.S. and sparingly in the rest of the world. Called OIT, it stands for oral immunotherapy, and it’s a treatment to desensitize patients to their food allergies. It’s being done mostly for young children in today’s food allergy epidemic, but can ALSO be done for adults who developed an allergy later in life, not just for children who’ve never been able to eat an allergen. My older son graduated peanut OIT a few months ago and is now ‘free eating’ peanuts, and he’s now in OIT for wheat/barley. My younger son recently graduated egg OIT and is about to begin milk OIT. So if that’s your dilemma, please go to OIT 101 - TREATING FOOD ALLERGIES WITH ORAL IMMUNOTHERAPY and see if there’s an OIT allergist near you that treats an allergy to your ‘favorite food.’

Can you be allergic to goose poop?

I'm sure you could be, after all it is waste. However, it could be other things as well, such as grass, tree pollen, any type of flowers that are around, etc.
