I Think I Really Hurt My Knee Help

I fell and hit my knee really hard...and it hurts really bad! HELPP!?

go to the doc, get an xray to confirm. you could have anything from a bruise to a torn acl, mcl, knee cap and so on, so confirm at the emergency room. Waiting for stuff like that isnt advisable because a lot of irreversible damage can be done if theres excess fluid that causes swelling that may obscure the regular knee anatomy. But ice your knee, elevate and take pain killers; to your own discretion. fell better!

My knee hurts really badly?

Kind of depends on where the pain is. But if you really do a lot of kneeling or squatting it's possible that you've strained the muscles around your knee or even strained the ACL (Anterior Cruciat (sp) Ligament) A rather common injury amongst athletes but anyone can have it. The ACL can heal on it's own if the injury isn't bad.

Also remember that not all pain is really coming from where you're feeling it. If you have a nerve being pinched in your back that can cause pain anywhere in your body and it will feel like the pain is coming from that place even though it's being caused by a problem in your spine.

I think i hurt my knee. Does tearing your ACL or a knee ligament hurt a lot?

Yes i am 15 and tore my acl meniscus and mcl a little over 3 months ago. I did it twice kind of in a week skiing and playing soccer. the first couple of minutes are awful!! then it gets better and u can walk and stuff. I could only move mine about thirty degrees. Did you hear a pop when you did it because that most likely means u tore it. Good luck!!

My knees hurt.?

Both my daughters, 16 and 11, are dancers and both have had knee pain at one time or another. This goes with being a dancer and with also doing a lot of physicial stuff while your body is at a major growing stage of your life. There are growth plates located at the knees that get strained from both growing and from doing crazy dance moves. You are probably not injured, you probably have a bit of inflamation. Try icing the knee or knees in the evening after dance class and ask Mom for some Motrin (for inflamation). Ice is great for sore ankles too (also common painful spot in dancers). You are very smart not wanting to hurt yourself. If it gets really bad in class, tell your teacher it's bothering you and take it easy in class (no jumping or twisting) for a week or two while you're trying the ice treatments. Of course if you have pain for an extended amount of time, see your doctor. Happy dancing to you and best of luck!

I scraped my knee really bad. what should i do?

I'm so sorry to hear about your accident! I hope you're okay! Having had the same thing happen many times falling off bikes, slipping on pavement, etc., I suggest applying Neosporin with pain reliever and covering the wounds with gauze if possible. If that isn't possible, you should make sure it is cleaned out as good as possible and let the warm water run on the wounds while you're in the shower. Since it isn't bleeding and it most likely is just a laceration and wouldn't require stitches, you should be okay in a day or two.

Hey--one more thing: You can use a warm compress on your knee of a *clean* washcloth soaked in warm chamomile tea. You can also soak your hands in it too (won't hurt you, just make sure it is a comfortable "warm" and NOT hot). Honestly, it works, and the tea has antibiotic properties. They used it in the old days because it really worked (my husband's great-grandmother from Germany used chamomile all the time to heal wounds and upset tummies and headaches--turns out she was right!). Try it and see if it doesn't make the hurt go away a little faster. Then I would apply the Neosporin and let nature do her work.

Why do my knees always hurt when I'm on an airplane?

Several factors contribute to knee pain posture being one if the most prominent. Airline seating tends to be placed lower than most other seats you typically use. That combined with little room to extend your legs has you sitting with your knees above waist level. This reduces circulation to your knees and lower legs. Your body then produces discomfort to encourage you to change position. Of course you can't so the discomfort becomes pain and the pain slowly increases until you can. Add a pressurized cabin, limited bathroom breaks, and restricted fluids throughout the flight and you can end a long flight barely able to walk with swollen legs.A way to avoid or reduce this is to reserve the seat at the front of the section where you have more legroom. Failing that choose an aisle seat. There is a button hidden on the underside the aisle armrest that allows it to be raised. Then you can stretch your legs into the aisle (being careful not to block traffic or get in the way of carts of course!). I'm actually considering business class next time myself.

Only if you walk by carrying heavy weights like furniture for more than 2 hours, 365 days of the year for non stop more than 10 years then perhaps MAYBE you will hurt your knee.Always remember, our forefathers at some point were hunters & gatherers and they roamed around for food for days and days and they were fit as an animal.I have read stories about the real Native Americans and their fitness and strength. They were mostly farmers who had to exert their bodies from tremendous pressure to cultivate food and earn living. They ate organic food, bathed in river when it was 0 degree Celsius temperature and even they were strong as a giant.But our generations, consumption of processed food, ease of transport and other sluggish behavior like watching TV for days has made us weak and unhealthy.So according to me, my walking everyday i think you will do more good to your body than you would actually harm it by staying at home and giving yourself an excuse that I'm protecting my knee.Stay strong & healthy, Good luck!

Why do your knees hurt when you sit for a long time?

It's called "Movie goers knee". (Also known as Patello-femoral pain syndrome.)There is general diffuse pain around the front part of your knee. Your knee cap sits in a specific groove in front of your knee joint.If your knee cap is not positioned correctly in this groove, it will rub against the bone behind it. This will cause friction between the 2 bony surfaces is what causes your knee to hurt.This friction is amplified especially when you sit for a long period of time. (driving, watching a movie, sitting at work etc).How to fix it:1. Avoid prolonged sitting:Try to get up every 30-60 minutes. This step alone may prevent the pain.2. Stretch out your quadriceps muscle:Tight quads will pull the knee cap closer to the bone behind it.Hold for at least 30 seconds. Repeat 5 times a day.Make sure you feel the stretch along the front of your thigh.3. Foam roll your ITB (side thigh):Tight muscles can pull your knee cap out of the optimal alignment and cause more friction and rubbing of the bones.Assume position as above. Apply your body weight over the foam roll.Gently roll up/down the side of your thigh.Do this for 1-2 minute. (it will hurt)4. Decrease the amount bending of the knee whilst sitting:The greater the angle of bend in your knee, the more likely the knee cap will rub against the bone behind it. This can be achieved by placing your foot slightly further way, sitting on a higher chair or making sure you are moving your legs every 20 minutes whilst sitting.Hope this helps!

I hurt my knee during soccer today...?

I'd see an orthopaedic surgeon right away. Apply ice as well, this will help to stimulate the blood flow and keep any inflamation down.
Pain in the kneecap can be tricky to diagnose without an MRI.
Since you're not in terrible pain, you could have a small tear. The tear could possibly be your meniscus, it's very common. Some people are able to live with a torn meniscus, by avoiding movements or activities that trigger the pain.
Go get it checked out....the only way for a doctor to know for sure is to have an MRI and make sure you're seeing an orthopaedic.
