I Think I Regret Redshirting

Does anyone REGRET redshirting / holding back?

Redshirting means to hold your child back for another year so they can start kindergarten a year later. Does anyone REGRET doing it, if you are a parent who redshirted their child and regretted it or if you are the child who was redshirted and think your parents made a big mistake, or you know someone who redshirted / or was redshirted and regret it.

Is wearing a red T-shirt a gang color?

i have no idea
you should ask people who live by you
because it might be a small gang or something?

My 14 year old resents me for redshirting him?

Hello my sons birthday is in the middle of June and we decided to redshirt him in kindergarten for a number of reasons. We wanted him to be the oldest so he doesn't risk falling behind. We wanted him to be a leader in his class (but he was nowhere near a leader) and we wanted him to have an extra year to mature. Many moms told me to redshirt him, and my husband also has a June birthday and I have A Nov. birthday and we are both redshirted, and were both glad our parent did. Many of the moms I've talked to say they regret not redshirting, but are glad they redshirted.

Now my son is in 14 and in 8th grade. He is very angry at me for redshirting him, asking why he isn't in high school. He hasn't slept well for a few nights, hates school and he's extremely resentful of me for redshirting him and this has been going on a little more than a month. His performance is declining and he constantly says "I want to be in high school" "I wish I was in high school", etc. What do I do?

Do you regret redshirting your child heading into kindergarten?

No, my oldest had to wait a year because her birthday was in Oct. My 2nd started a few weeks after she turned 5. Sending her is what I regret. Younger kids are going to struggle more with motor, social skills, and atention span, even if they're very smart. When I taught first grade I could pick out the youngest students within a few min. Let them be kids longer. Don't rush to let them grow up. On the other end she graduated when she was 17. Which means going off on her own much younger. After that they enter the work force, but they have their whole lives to work, why race getting there? Slow down and enjoy the time you have. There are many articles about it being better for kids to learn later rather than pushing them so early. I had 2 kids after her. I had both of them start kindergarten at 6.

First time playing football into sophomore year, should i Quit?

Well its the first time i am playing football in the sophomore year and im wondering if i should stick to the sport. I play lacrosse and i have some speed and i gained some weight through weight training but im still very light. Im 125 pounds very low body fat and im like 5'8-5-10. My dad wants me to quit because he saids that the weightlifting(squats) will stunt my growth(does it stunt growth?) and claims this one NFL player is huge without ever lifting. But my body is more of a ectomorph?(ithink) and not naturally built.
I wanted to do football to try it out but practice is really getting to me. i feel like a total dumbass because when we went over plays i didnt cycle in becuase i didnt know what the hell to go into or what the football stance even was.. I have to pay 120 dollars(maybe more) for the school equipment then i have to register for a camp which is 70 more dollars which is throughout the whole dam summer. I have friends there but im embarrased because i dont know anything about football(didnt know what a line was until yesterday) and i don't understand the plays.

My dads friends claim that he could teach me everything and saids i should go for cornerback considering my body and speed. I don't know how to tackle but he said he could teach me how.

Im in tenth grade and i really regret never playing before, and i my dad's friend said that you need real good hands. I dont really have good hands, i have good coordination(good with a lax stick) but my hands are small so its hard to get a good grip on the big ball... (Any tips to catching? to get better? how to catch?)

How do i also improve my speed and jumping? (especially jumping)

So overall stick with the sport as my first year in 10th GRADE, High school? I'm playing on the JV team.

I don't know what to go for in the offensive? There are 5 running backs and i want to be one but i don't think i can qualify my first year...

Do small hands really affect catching skills? Best way to catch a football? I can get my hands there i just can't seem to catch it...

EDIT: Tips for cornerbacks? should i go for a different position? recommend me one for defence nad offense,

What do I do when I feel regret?

When regret came knocking on my door and screamed, "Why the hell did you do that? What were you thinking?", I used to pretend I didn't hear it. You don't exist, I don't believe in you at all, I told myself. And so it left after that. But it would came again banging. Its voice was always softer yet somehow louder the second time,"You made a mistake. If only you did it differently, things wouldn't have turned out this way.."No, things happen for the best, I told myself. But deep down inside, I didn't believe it. Next thing I know, my mind was filled with endless what-if scenarios and self-hate thoughts.Regrets can eat us alive if we let it take over our minds: don't. But the sense of regret itself is a wonderful thing. It gives us an awakening. It keeps us grounded. It makes us stop and reflect our steps. So instead of pretending to not acknowledge its existence by distracting myself, I try to welcome the feeling. Hello. What brings you here? I ask. Some days it tells me that it arrived because I lack mindfulness. Some days it would be my insecurity; or ego; or laziness; or lust; or ignorance. And so I usually nod and thank it for informing and reminding me. But it still would not leave. What else do you want? I'd ask again."I want you to act on me. I want you to mend what you can."And I would nod once again and promised it to do as it requested."Here. Take these from me," it said as it handed me diamonds."They're called lessons. They're yours now and forever will be.They are the real reason behind my visit."And that is when regret finally leaves for good.

What do I do after getting rejected by a guy?

We are fishes in the sea. There's high probability of finding someone better every time we move on. But move on. That's important. Start over new. What do you do when you are rejected by a company after interview, you regret for a while, next day you start looking for other openings around. Same logic. Harder the involvements, lower and lower you feel every moment when you think of them. Free up yourself, is what should you do, right now.

Having a birthday close to the kindergarten cut off

It depends on his abilities, what does his preschool teacher think?
My son's birthday is only a month before the cutoff and he's also diagnosed with Pervasive Developmental Delays (a very very mild part of the autism spectrum). however, we are still sending him. I hope we are making the right choice. But he is on an IEP that ends when he is 6, so I would rather him go this year and qualify for services, rather than hold him back a year, and then his IEP ends, and he can't get services if we find he needs them that year. He was in the preschool program for developmental delays for 2 years. I think he will be fine. If your son is doing well in preschool, and does not have any learning disabilities so far with speech or delays, send him. You can always repeat kindergarten. But what if he does great? Then he will be with his class and will not have missed out on this year.

((these are just my opinions of course, you and your family have to do what is best for your son based on your assessment of his needs. Honestly, I don't think there's anything wrong with waiting till 6 to start kindergarten either, we are sending our son b/c of his IEP so he can be mainstreamed while still being able to have the services if he needs,))

Can high school make you repeat a grade if you failed?

Absolutely. If you fail a class, let’s say Algebra I, that is a graduation requirement then you HAVE to pass that class (or some equivalent credit) in order to graduate. If you fail all of your courses Freshman year, some of them might not be graduation requirements but any that are you will have to take again. If you continue failing Algebra I every year, they will not magically let you take Geometry unless someone in the registrar’s office makes a mistake. Some schools require a certain number of credits completed before they call you an advanced name such as Sophomore or Junior. Most don’t, so you may still be called a Sophomore after failing all your classes. But unless you make up credits (not all schools have options for doing this) then you will just get to be a Senior multiple times.Ultimately, if you don’t complete sufficient credits before you turn 21, then they stop having you repeat grades. You simply get to pay for a G.E.D. test if you want a High School Equivalent diploma.
