I have fever and throat pain?
Hi, Aurora. I really am a licensed nurse, and what you are saying concerns me. Both viruses and bacterial infections can cause pain and fever. Only a practitioner can test for strep throat. Strep throat isn't more painful than any other throat infection. The reason we take it seriously is that, unchecked, it can cause infection in the cardiac muscle, or the heart. When strep throat, or an infection in the throat caused by streptococcus bacteria, is not identified and treated, if it does spread to the heart it will have lifelong repercussions for the person infected. If you are still experiencing symptoms tomorrow, please see a health provider. In the meantime, gargling with salt water is not simply an old wives tale. The salt changes the pH of the tissue, making it hostile to viruses and bacteria both. Use the salt water gargle, and see if it helps a bit. But don't hesitate to see a doctor if your symptoms continue.

On and off 102 fever, coughing, headache, slight back+neck pain?
Cough and fever, especially in the winter, pretty much means you have the flu. Online symptom checkers just make people paranoid more often than they are useful. Make sure you stay hydrated, and rest a lot and you should be fine. You'll probably want to keep taking something for the fever and maybe also take some cough syrup. You really should stay home from school for a few days so you can rest and also because the flu is very contagious, and if you're still coughing you will give it to other people. You don't really need to go to the doctor unless your fever gets really high or you have trouble breathing or something. Also the flu can sometimes lead to pneumonia so if you start feeling better then get a lot worse you should definitely get checked out.
My TLC increased last month with all the body pains and fever. What should I do?
If this is a one-off case, I would not worry. If the TLC has increased because of frequent occurrences of fever, you should work on dealing with the root cause of the frequent fever. You need to analyse whether the fever comes on more at certain times (work stress, weather change, etc.) — for example, I get all the allergies when the parthenium weeds bloom after the rains.Sometimes, you may actually understand your body better than your doctor does. Think through all this, and then talk to your doctor, so that s/he has more information to work with.
I have had typhoid fever for 15 days. I took the medicine and I'm still having symptoms. The doctor told me that it's been cured, but I still have a headache, abdominal pain, throat pain, weakness, and fever. What should I do now?
Typhoid cannot be cured through medicines alone. DO NOT SELF MEDICATE. It needs medicine ( continuous for some time), diet (lot of water), rest and the body defense mechanism takes over to eliminate the virus. WIDAL will show positive even after 30 days. So, dont go by it. Consult a senior or government doctor (local and aged doctor in your locality) and obey whatever he/she says.Note: When i had typhoid, i tried to read a lot about it and took medicines without rest. I got relapse and was admitted to hospital needing saline and bed rest. I lost hair and became weak and paranoid. They stopped giving me medicines as i developed resistence. Hence, please dont read, dont take any advice from online forums or change doctors. A local doctor knows the number of cases in that locality and what medicine doses work better. Hence, please take rest, eat right food and mainly OBEY what doctor says suspending your intelligence and experience. This is not a disease that you can take lightly and medicine alone cannot cure this. I speak from experience.

Nausea & vomiting & fever?
yesterday around 6pm i started having a really bad stomach pain. 2 hours later i started vomiting every 20-30 min and went to the hospital and they put me on 2 IVs and also injected me with some anti-vomiting drug. The vomiting stopped right after but today i woke up with a fever and have been having a fever of 38.2 (100.6 F). The vomiting has stopped and the stomach pain is gone. But i have a fever and a bad headache (might be because of vomiting) I took an advil right now to lower the fever. Is this something i should be concerned about? I have no diarrhea and the blood test i took in the hospital was normal. Im 20 by the way
For the first two days I did intensive exercise at the gym (actually the instructor made me to do that). Today, the third day, I have body pain and have a fever. What could be the cause and what can I do?
Let me guess, you just started working out, and you really really want that 6 pack in 3 months so you worked out extra hard for 2 days to make up for 25 years (or so..) of not working out. Maybe you didn't eat enough because it's "healthy"It's fine, it's just DOMS (Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness) as enough people would've pointed out by now. Take it easy, working out is a lifestyle which you adapt, not something you do for 3 months really intensely. The point of this rant ? Ease up. You're in this for the long run. Slowly increase the amount you exercise, eat well, improve your diet (basically don't eat processed junk, eat clean healthy food. And make sure it's an adequate amount.) and make sure you get enough rest. Contrary to what most people think, muscles aren't built in the gym. They're built at home, when you're eating and sleeping.Once again, choose your workout wisely, and keep your ego at the door.Eat enough. Calculate your macros using IIFYM Calculator calculate the your macro nutrients based on your age, weight, and physical activity. Get enough sleep(6-8 hours), especially in the beginning when your body isn't used to working so hard.and last but not least, have fun. If you plan on being fit, you gotta workout regularly, meaning you'll be in the world of fitness for a while. Have fun while you're at it.Best of luck.
Neck pain and sore throat?
NOW DONT JUMP THE GUN WITH THAT GUY!!It could be any number of things....meningitis has specific signs(ie stiff neck and rash)The pressure in your head after being sick is explainable as is the neck pain. If your symptoms persist after 1 week or get worse then I would go to ER Symptoms of bacterial meningitis usually appear suddenly. Symptoms of viral meningitis may appear suddenly or develop gradually over a period of days. For example, the symptoms of viral meningitis after mumps may take several days or weeks to develop. The most common symptoms of either form of meningitis include: Fever. Severe and persistent headache. Stiff and painful neck, especially when trying to touch the chin to the chest. Vomiting. Confusion and decreased level of consciousness.
