I Think My Neighbors Is Stelaing My Packages

I am being accused by a neighbor of stealing his UPS package?

You can sue him for damages if his lies cause you to be evicted or fired or anything else that costs you money.

Notify the landlord that this guy has lied about you to the police and they have dismissed his complaint.

You can file a criminal complaint that he has filed a false police report about you.
You can sue for a restraining order if he appears to be violent toward you.
You can notify the landlord that this guy is a criminal nut-job and should be evicted for everyone's safety.
You can take a picture of him, make a handbill of it, label it, "Liar" and post it in various places.
You can blog about your criminal sociopath neighbor.

Add: Do not "dare him to sue you". Even if you win, it is very unlikely that the court would order a plaintiff to pay the legal expenses of a defendant, unless you are able to prove his claim is completely without any legal merit, or that he falsified evidence, or otherwise willfully corrupted the legal process.

As a general rule, parties to a lawsuit bear their own costs, regardless of who wins.

I think my neighbor stole my usps package, what should i tell them?

i dont want to seem like im accusing them, but i kinda am

beacause mailman said he put it on my front door yet i never received it

and my neighbor lives right across from me

so what should i say?? but sounding casual but really acusing them

I think my neighbors stole my ups package!?

A package was suppose to arrive at my house today (a sweater I bought from the north face). I decided to track my package only to find it had been "delivered and left at front door". Problem is no one ever knocked on my door and there was no package at my door. Now UPS and FED EX have been known to ring my door bell and not wait for us to answer the door and just drop the package on the floor. Today there was no knock and no one rang the door bell.

So i live in a decent quiet neighborhood but I also have these weird neighbors who I think may have taken the package. They are always smoking weed and doing coke. All kinds of people come by at all hours of the night. My other neighbors pretend they dont see anything just to stay out of trouble. My neighbor told me himself he sells drugs like it was a normal occupation. Lately there has been a guy staying there that is super ghetto. Every other word out of his mouth is *^**. I knocked on my neighbors door and the ghetto guy answered the door and said they didn't receive the package. But he looked so much like he was lying! He even turned around almost like if checking the box wasn't behind him on a table by mistake. Anyways, they are shipping me a new sweater and upgraded delivery to two business days. Ups must pay for it all and the driver is getting reprimanded for not knocking.
So do you think my neighbors took it or mr. Ups never came or took it himself? Would he risk his job for a lousy sweater?

What should I do after my neighbor stole my package?

I would recommend contacting the merchant who sent you the package letting them know that you never received it.  They will contact the shipper to provide proof that it was delivered to your home.  The 'proof' is your signature that you received it.  If this proof cannot be produced by the shipper, the merchant will file a claim against the shipper and they will send you a replacement order (of course, at no charge to you).Generally speaking, many shippers will require a signature upon delivery to avoid paying these claims.  However, sometimes, they use their own judgement as to whether a package can be safely left on a doorstep without one.  If they deem the neighborhood safe or it is not an apartment building where a lot of people are walking by your doorstep, they may just leave it without having you sign for it, understanding they run a financial risk if anything like this goes wrong (such as you claiming you never received the package). It may take a little time to resolve the issue and to receive your replacement shipment, but you can rest assured, you will not out of pocket.  In the unlikely event the merchant refuses to make you whole again, simply initiate a chargeback (i.e. dispute the charge) with your credit card company and buy the item from somewhere else.  The credit card companies always side with the customer and make you whole again.  It is up to the merchant to 'prove' they delivered it to you safely, via their carrier.Everything to resolve the situation, whether it is with the shipper or credit card company, boils down to 'proof' that you received the package safely.  If you never signed for it, they have none.Good luck.

Undelivered package & neighbors accusing me?

withour proof, like a signature that is yours, they have nothing. The police must ask you because the delivery company f'd up and left it at the wrong place. They are responsible. I wouldn't answer any further questions and tell your nieghbor that you will not sign for or be responsible for any packages left at your door. Also call the delivery companies. I live on a main road and twice, the delivery company has left packages from dell (clearly marked in BIG letters "DELL") right in front of my door for all to see. Another time the package was stolen.
If you didn't sign, you have no problem. In the abscence of any other proof, you have nothing to worry about. Odds are the delivery guy forged the name of the other occupant as well, thinking they lived there. Ask to see signature proof. Odds are its not your name or signature. End of story. If they have no signature, similarly, end of story.

Delivered and left unattended at your door is not your problem, its the delivery companies. They are REQUIRED by Dell to get signatures.

I suspect my neighbor is stealing mail. What can I do?

Are you home when the mailman comes? Wait for him & watch. Or better yet, just set up a security camera up, but hidden! That's if you are trying to bust the person and plan on filing charges against them! But remember: you still need to live next door to him/her & that can make for a very stressful home life. But if you don't want to bring in the authorities, just set up a camera with a good wide angle but clear enough to identity the person, in case it's not your neighbor!I do advise however, that you do let authorities handle this. That's part of their job that gets paid by your tax dollars, so let them earn it! And God only knows what people have in their houses or person…too many neighbors not being “neighborly” is a recipe for a deadly outcome and happens much more than we think! If you live in a complex of condos or apartments, let management, postal service carrier & authorities (if management insists on it for legal protection due to property ownership, insurance purposes, etc.) know of your suspicions & discuss it with them. They may install locks on the boxes instead of a camera. Or there may be a rash of mail theft going on in your area, especially wkith the holidays just starting! There might already be an ongoing investigation into the thefts.Good luck!

How do I avoid having my neighbor steal my package via FedEx indirect signature? I suspect he stole a package of mine a while back.

If you think you have a dishonest neighbor your best option would be do have your item shipped with a Direct Signature Required (DSR) or Adult Signature Required (ASR). The two options require that the item be delivered to only your address. or. You could have it held at the Fedex facility for you to pick up in person.

I believe someone is stealing packages off of my porch, what can I do?

Some vendors will send packages to a drop-off location like a drugstore or business. Perhaps that is an option for you. Otherwise, you might restrict package delivery, “signature required” so that the package will not be left where it can be stolen. Delivering it to your office is another possibilityObviously, you should complain to the merchant and to the postal authorities or UPS or Fedex. Some will redeliver a replacement as a goodwill gesture. Packages stolen from the mail are also a matter for postal inspectors. That is why many con artists will use something other than the US mail in their crimes. Stealing from the US mail can be a federal crime with serious time involved.
