I Think My Phone Is Being Taped

How do I block my cell phone from being tapped?

Take a note of your battery discharge time. If it is getting discharged quickly then your phone might (or may not) have been tapped. First thing to do to increase your battery life is stop background application. Stop GPS and bluetooth. Change your data connection to 2G(best would be to stop your data connection). Stop all automatic updates. If after the above changes you find that your battery still drains out quickly then you can go for factory reset or a new battery. If all the above doesn't help then your phone might be tapped or bugged.Battery life drains out quickly when someone is trying to access your phone data. It can be accessing any form of information.Download any app from the store which will show your battery activity. Install some anti-malware app from the store and run it.Check the temperature of your phone. Phone usually warms up if someone is remotely using it. There can be many reason of your phone getting warm up It cannot be only phone tapping. If you feel your phone has been tapped switch off your mobile and remove your battery when not in use.Watch if you phone gets hanged very often. Turns on/off at times. Then someone might be using it.Check for messages which you feel is unusual. It can be in coded format. Also try to listen for background noise when you are on a call. If you feel something strange like sound echo, clicking sound etc. then your phone might be tapped. Also try to remember if your phone was with someone else - may be some friend or in service center or you have left somewhere for few minutes. If so then get your phone checked by some other technician to detect if some bugging device is fit inside your phone.Your complete mobile data can be cloned to another mobile in just one touch. So if you feel you are going to a place where your phone might be hacked then switch off your mobile and remove the battery. Another and the best way is use an aluminium foil(mainly used to wrap food) to wrap your mobile. This will stop any other device from iteracting with your mobile.Inspect your phone bill every month. If you find some messages send/phone calls which you have no knowledge about then call your service provider to make sure about it.Check for some unusual electronic device in and around your house which you have no knowledge about. This electronic device might be transmitting your data to someone else.Hope it helps...

How can i tell if my cell phone is taped?

Most cell phones are held together by tiny screws. Very few are taped.

What's the best app to see if my phone is being tapped?

Bert Griego , thanks for your A2A.As David Fred correctly wrote, your phone can be tapped at telecom core network, without touching your phone, and you would never be able to find it out. This feature is available to local law enforcement agencies for obvious reasons. This feature is, unfortunately, also available to malicious users able to use the core network vulnerabilities, and you still may not be able to detect it.By the way, if your phone is tapped this way, your calls, your text messages, your Internet data traffic is all tapped.Alternatively, your phone may be hacked and some malicious software installed to spy on you. This kind of software may be able to listen to your calls, even calls made with encryption software, read everything you type, including messages and passwords, read your e-mail and everything in it.If, for example, your Apple ID or Google account are hacked, hackers are able to install whatever app they want and let the phone believe it is you who wants to install such app.It is very difficult therefore to find out if your phone has been hacked. You may notice some extra battery usage, some extra data traffic usage, but unless you are paranoid about checking those details everyday, you may not be able to find it out.I am personally sceptical on the real ability of any mobile anti-virus to find out if your phone has been hacked. You can try for yourself: get some spying software, any keylogger, on the official app stores, install it, then take an antivirus and see if it informs you of anything. We do provide untraceable, encrypted, anonymous smartphone. But those smartphones are really locked down with an air-wall approach. You cannot install anything nor browse the internet. You can only make and receive secure calls. send and receive encrypted messages, files and e-mails. More on our website (see on my profile).

I think my landlord is tapping my phone line, how can I find out?

I've lived in my house for two years now and I believe that my landlord is tapping my phone line. When I pick up the phone I hear some static and a clicking noise. While talking on the phone I notice that sometimes I can hear myself, like an echo? When I had problems with the phone and at&t came to fix the problem they told me that ten different lines were found coming into and out of the house. And about a month ago my credit card expired and so my phone bill didn't get paid (because it usually is taking out of my bank account by my credit card) and so my phone was shut off, well my landlords wife came over and asked when I would fix the problem. We live on the same property so I'm not sure why she would have called me to get ahold of me when she can walk over to the house. And they do not call me much anyways so I thought it was weird that she knew that my phone was disconnected. Are they tapping my phone line? And if so what can be done about this?

How do you know when your landline phone is being tapped?

You don't, and yes it's possible to tap cell phones.

Edit: Actually the odd behavior is probably a sign that you aren't being tapped. This isn't the 1940's, where you could hear the FBI breathing on the other side. If there's really a tap on your line, the sound quality will be crystal clear- so the judge can understand the recordings.

Try replacing the phone cord, the phone, and the wall jack (in that order) to see if that clears up some of the issues on your house phone. Unfortunately, cell phones can just be twitchy, depending on phone model, carrier, and local coverage. Next time your contract is up, take a good look at who's got the best coverage network in your area.

What exactly are you into, that the government would have any interest in listening to your phonecalls?

How do I tell if my Android phone is tapped?

Hi, Generally you can't. I would ask this - why do you think that your being bugged/taped? If you are a normal citizen who is not involved in serious crime or actively working against your Government then the authorities have no interest in you. If you are a criminal or protester then I would start from the premise that you are being bugged or taped. I would strongly recommend that you don't use a smartphone to conduct such business. It is possible that a criminal has hacked your phone, but if you follow some simple behaviour rules then the chances of this happening is quite low. If you are convinced that this has happened then do a full factory reset. This will wipe your OS of any hidden programs. If you follow these simple rules you should be relatively safe from criminal hackers. Only download apps from the Google play store or from a Trusted site. Do not install apps from forums or from links given to you. Do not click on adverts - if you see a advert that interests you then enter the site URL into your browser or search Google. Do not open emails from unknown sources. Google is very good at separating good emails from bad spam. I personally don't open any email that is in my spam folder.      If you sign up for newsletter then add their email address into your contacts Do not accept or open Multimedia text messages from unknown sources. Delete them immediately. Change your text message apps settings so media is not played when the message is read. Do not leave your phone alone. Do not give your phone to anyone. Anti virus software will only detect known viruses. Even so you should keep yours upto date. If you change your behaviour and follow these simple rules the risk of being hacked or getting a virus is relatively small. Peace ✌

How can I tell tell if my phone is being tapped by law enforcement?

I don’t think you can. When telephone conversations were transmitted on a pair of twisted wires, one pair to each phone line, anyone not on the circuit who wanted to listen in had to physically tap into the line at some point between the user’s phone and the central station. If it was a legal tap, authorized by a court order, this would be done at the telephone company’s central office. There would be some kind of pen register (records numbers dialed) and/or a tape recorder physically attached to the line, and the recordings would be retrieved by law enforcement from time to time.If the tap was not via a warrant (i.e., illegal), a knowledgeable officer would usually get access to the physical phone wires in the basement of the building or at a nearby junction box. Sometimes they would just plug in a lineman’s handset and listen, and sometimes they would place a battery-operated recorder to be retrieved later. Activating the handset during a call would cause a drop in line voltage, and sometimes produce an audible click that suggested to the user that the phone might be tapped. Now, almost all phone calls are transmitted digitally. The tap can be at any physical location, and it’s not going to produce any telltale noise on the line. It requires overt or covert cooperation from the phone company, but unless you get access to the phone company’s control systems, you won’t know your phone is tapped until the transcripts are unsealed in court.

Smartphones: How do you get your cell phone un-tapped?

Lisa Hatcher , thanks for your A2A.If you are certain your conversations are being tapped, please consider this is a criminal offence and you should report it to your local police.Beside this, your phone can be tapped in two ways:by using some telecom network vulnerabilities, orby installing some spying software on your phoneCase #1 requires an high level of sophistication and if you believe that is the case, there is nothing you can do. Just stop using any cellphone that connects to cellular networks, fixed lines or satellite networks. You may use devices that connect to the Internet instead, and you may read an how to guide on our website (see on my profile). If you believe, instead that whoever is spying on you is using some spying app, you should understand first that hacking a phone happened either because you left your phone unattended OR because you were not careful enough in using it.You may get rid of that spying software and the best way to do so is to replace your phone (no need to change your number), but if you won’t learn how to be more careful in using your phone, you will be hacked again, and again. For example, if someone has hacked your Google or Apple account, it could be very easy to hack your phone. So you may keep changing phone but if your credentials remain the same, whatever phone you change, it will be hacked again.A serious answer to your question requires more analysis on the case. If you want you can contact me directly.
