Hey there... Sorry to hear about your Grandma. I am a counselor and I ran into this problem a few times with clients who had severe illnesses but no insurance. You have to go to the Medicaid Office with a copy of the latest hospital bill and with a copy of the medication. They would retroact this and my clients ended up getting their money back for the medication and it also set them up with insurance. But, you need to do that as soon as possible. Also, in the town I worked was a cancer society. they have grants and monies to help.. As a matter of fact... You should become their best friend because they can help with any thing you need when it comes to supplies. Then, there is also....... Look on the bottles of the medication... call the MD and see if they have samples.... Also do a search on these meds to find out who made them and request prescription assistance. Can you talk to her case manager at the hospital? They are usaally very helpful. I hope this helps.

There is no one answer for this. Everyone has a answer or what they think is the right one. Basically my opinion for what it is worth, depending on the day and who u ask is this. The military is a organization that does take care of it's on to a certain point, but it also requires you to do your part too. Taking care of your self health wise.......We have all heard horror stories of one type or another. Mine is not that, as I had a great career. My medical care has always been great. We (my wife) also made some smart decisions regarding us staying in the Army and spending well with in our means.That being said I have never had something major event (death of spouse or child, divorce, or bankruptcy) happen in adult life that caused me to list mentally.According to a US government report there are roughly 38,000 homeless vets in this country. Which is down from 2010. One is too many but regardless of all we do there is always going to be homeless (vets) in this country. Now no one knows the exact number.I once read a article where reporters were interviewing “homeless Vietnam vets“. They were in full Vietnam uniforms complete with long hair, and talking bad about our government not supporting them. During the interview several real Vietnam vets showed up in shirt and tie and started questioning these “vets” because some were claiming to be in the certain unit as the same time real vets were. Basically most were exposed as frauds. Either they never served or never servied in Vietnam. Seems the reporters got mad at the real vets as they messing up the story and missing the big picture of helping vets. One real vet then said while you can never forget what happened you have to get on with your life or it will take over your life. You have to help yourself. He also said he was tired of all Vietnam vets being portrayed as the type of guys that most of the frauds.I know i am lucky, and I want no one to be homeless vet or not.
