How can I retrieve a discarded draft on Gmail?

Found myself in a similar situation today.Some very important info which i used to keep in draft, and i clicked 'Discard draft' by mistake, and i recognized my mistake too late (after 30 seconds slot provided by gmail as pointed by @Dick hoe)Then as usual i tried googling the web with a hope that i may find a solution, but with no success. Fortunately, i use gmail on my smart phone as well with auto refresh mode off. What i did next was :1) Switched off all the sources of data connection (Wifi/Mobile data).2) Opened the gmail app.3) Went to Drafts section, and yess.. The Draft which i discarded was present there in the application cache... :).. I copied that data and secured it...I think this may be helpful for some.

This is really easy.I would email out a bomb threat to the FBI and the public presidential email and I would be rescued in no time by these guys.The FBI has a webpage dedicated to collecting tips and the only required field is where you write the tip. This saves me precious time because I don't have to fill out my email address or physical address. The only fields I would fill out would be my name and the threat. My name is important because when they open the investigation they’ll be able to see that I’m a missing person which should make them even more suspicious.I’d send the same to the presidential email which was the top result on Google. I’d copy and paste the threat I submitted to the FBI with my name.This guarantees you that they’ll investigate you. It’s a crime to make terroristic threats and they take it very seriously. They would collect information from the form I submitted and they would be able to track me down quickly. Once they searched my name for the investigation and found that I was reported missing, they would certainly intensify their search.I actually timed myself to see if I could do this in under a minute and I could. I obviously didn't type a threat but I had 23 seconds to spare so I’m sure I could write one in that span of time.I’d say I would have about 48 to 72 hours left in captivity before the FBI and Secret Service came knocking.

Now, GMAIL does have a “Enable Undo Send” option that you can set, but it is really a “delay send” feature, and it only works to a very short maximum of 30 seconds. But I do suggest people enable it so that they can cancel something from being sent out right away if they realize they hit “send” when they didn’t mean to.Unfortunately, that won’t help you for an Email that is sent out longer then this.And Gmail which is cloud-based doesn’t have a “Recall” feature like Microsoft Outlook Exchange, so there aren’t really any other options. Why does gmail delete my sent mail?

As others have said, Gmail does not do this - or not normally. Default behavior is for your sent items to be “archived”, with a “sent” label on them. So if you click on the sent label in the left hand column, or do a search, you should see all your sent mail. If you do not, then there are only a couple of possibilities.
