Golden retriever or lab puppy?
Both breeds can make wonderful pets. One of my aunts is blind, and she's had some of each (and a golden/lab mix!) since they're often used as guide dogs - all of them have been very intelligent and friendly. Of course, a lot of that depends on their training...any breed can develop behavioral problems if they aren't trained properly. Have you considered adopting? According to http://www.petfinder.com/ there are some labs for adoption in Las Cruces, and some golden retrievers for adoption in El Paso. Save a life!
Who you rather have a golden retriever or a Labrador retriever?
I think that is a matter of personal preferences. I wouldn’t want either breed, but if I had to pick from the 2, I’d probably choose a Lab. Both dogs are intelligent, tend to have nice personalities, are fairly gentle if well-bred and raised properly.I feel Goldens are somewhat more biddable, easier to train and work with, but I just am not a fan of long-haired dogs… not because I don’t like the look, but because of the amount of care required.
Do Golden Retrievers and Labradors eat rabbits.?
I wanted to know because I have 2 rabbits and we were planning on getting at dog and we really want either a lab or a golden retriever. So would it eat my rabbits if the dog grows up with them since He's a puppy.

Have you spent time around both breeds?? What i would do is go and see both breeds at work and also in the show ring and speak to the owners and breeders. From seeing and being around both the breeds you'll get a feel as to which is the right one for you. We have a Lab in our house who is from working stock, so is much more energetic and more slim line compared to the show Labs you see which are very chunky and slightly shorter. Either way you need to get out there and see them for yourself to make the decision. Each person on here will have their own opinion and at the end of the day its you who's going to have to live with the dog and will need to make a choice which best suits you and your lifestyle. If you go on the breed websites and contact the club secretary they will be able to advise you on dates and places for the working and comformation shows.

What's the difference between a Labrador and a Golden Retriever?
There are loads of differences!! A golden Retriever is usually longer than a lab and looks much bigger and has a more bushier tail or a wavy hair when compared to a lab. Hence they shed a lot and grooming is essential to prevent matting. The Labrador has a short double coat and can shed moderately. A lab needs to be groomed at least twice a week to remove the dead hair. Both have webbed paws and hence are excellent swimmers. The personality of a lab can vary from one another but almost all labs are fun loving and outgoing. They are very friendly with the children and can run all day round. The lab can be trained easily to perform various tasks right from fetching the newspaper to hunting. The golden retriever is more calmer but is very eager to please it's owners so training them is easy too. However they aren't as athletic or enthusiastic a Labrador. They also love to be around people and other dogs alike.A Labrador makes a good watch dog and will bark at the sight of any intruder. However it is poor guard dog. The golden is not a good watch dog and can make friends with a stranger very quickly. Hence guarding is out of the equation!Hope it helps
