I Want To Be A Navy Seal Is This An Ok Route

How to become a Navy SEAL?

Ok. Ive wanted to be a SEAL for a while. Im young. High School young. I plan to go to college. But for what would help to be a SEAL. How many years? Can the military pay for it? Can i join the Marines instead of the Navy that way if i DONT' make it i can be in the Marines?Im a little husky but tough mentally and physically. Im losing the weight. Im a pretty good swimmer. Can't really dive though. I know BUDs is hard and every thing and that its like 99.9 percent chance i wont make it but i don't care. I do my best in everything i do. I get straight A's and B's. How can i prepare for SEAL training. Im only in my first year of high school. I lead my sport teams and other kids around the town. I have a lot of leader ship skills and experience. How to become a SEAL is my question.? No negativity needed.

Is 5 foot 10 too short to be a Navy SEAL?

I'm still 15 at the moment. I'm probably done growing since my predicted height was only 5' 6.5". Also, if I am too short for the Navy SEALs, would I be an ok height for the Army? Thank you.

What made you decide to become a Navy SEAL?

I am not and have never claimed to be a Navy SEAL. I served as a Machinist Mate, nuclear power plant mechanical operator and emergency welder, onboard two submarines. The schools were difficult and pushed me to succeed. Naval Nuclear Power school put 2 years of college level math and science in a 6 month period. Once I finished all my schools and was assigned to the USS PATRICK HENRY SSN-599, I had to qualify for the various watch stations in the engineering spaces along with qualifying submarines for my dolphins. While stationed on the Patrick Henry, we did a number of training operations with members of the SEALs. I have the utmost respect for the men in the SEAL community and I admit that I could not do what they do on a daily basis. Operating the power plant of a nuclear sub at sea underwater for an extended period of time was my specialty. The career choice was a challenge which is what I needed at that point in my life and I am proud of what I did.

How to prepare for Navy SEALs BUD/s training?

-Run. A lot. Constantly. Two miles is nothing... get yourself to the point where you cna do five and you're getting there. Seriously: if you can do five miles without stopping, then rest a minute, and do another five, you're getting there.

Keep on with your pushups; 65 is good. Get to 100 and keep trying to go up from there. I do 350 crunches, then 200 side lifts per side, and I'm still not up snuff.

Do as many pull ups/chin ups as you can. Have you seen the tower they make you climb?? Jeez. The crazy thing when I went to watch was that all the guys were clambering and climbing; the drill instructor was just lifting himself up with his arms and swinging his body over without his body *ever making contact* with the structure, and all the while he was yelling at them to hurry up! That was somethin' else...

More important than wrestling team - seriously - would be gymnastics. I know what you're thinking... gymnastics??? WTF??? Well, in the SEALs or most other specops, you're more apt to take someone down with a silenced weapon or explosive than tackle them. It would certainly help and it will get you in good shape, but gymnastics and/or swim is a better route, because you need to be able to run, jump over, climb over, and contort your body in whatever way necessary to get yourself into and out of a situation. The muscle that gymnasts pack on is about as lean as it gets; it'll help you tons. Since you're often deployed in the water it'd make sense to get a good indoctrination in how to swim and tread water.

Basically, do what you can, push your limit, then keep pushing as hard as you can without hurting yourself. Also, it wouldn't hurt to get a rifle (if your family doesn't have one) and practice shooting from different positions - laying prone, kneeling, standing. Your parents probably wouldn't be keen on you getting an AR15 or M4 carbine (also they cost a pretty penny) but some sort of less-expensive semiauto rifle would be good.

U.S Army Ranger then SEAL?

ok, so i have always wanted to be a Navy SEAL, but im enlsting in the army because i want to try ranger school, and try ranger school so if i fail i have infantry to fall back on. and if i pass ranger school(im gonna give 110% and then some) i want to be a ranger for 3-5 years then enlist in the navy, and do mp and try for the Navy seals...do you think this would work? i feel if i become a ranger(which i will DO NOT DOUBT ME) it will give me a confidence boost to become a SEAL. thanks
