I Want To Buy A New Second-hand Car. But What Car Should I Buy

Should I buy a second hand car first before I get a new car?

If you're confident & practising well, go for a new one indeed.A new learner could slow down the traffic behind but never be the one to hit on.In case of incident/accident they're natural & driving at your safe side is best.Scratch could be made on new vehicle also & major accident could occur with the used one too. While buying a second hand, ask for the service history, general repairs done, bodywork made through insurance claims & REMARKS made by service advisor at max. gap of 3 months from buying.

Should I buy a new car or second hand used car?

Most of the depreciation of the car happens in the first couple of years. It means that you'll lose most of your money on a car's value in the first few years. As the years progress, you're going to have less and less depreciation between individual years. On the other side by buying a new car, in first few years you'll have very little repair cost (if any). Your repair cost are low at the beginning and they start going up over time exponentially. So, should you buy new and have heavy depreciation at the beginning but very little repair cost, or have a used car that has had a lot of depreciation that occurred and risk the repair cost? The answer is: buy a used car that has been used from two to eight years and has between 24 and 96 thousand miles. So, you're doing to get the best possibility of getting the car for the best price with the least amount of maintenance during your ownership.Greg Macke

Which new or secondhand car should I buy if I have 4 lakh?

It's on your choice of cars.Understand this,You won't get the top model of any car except alto, nano or maybe few subsequent ranged cars.If you want you could go for a better class of hatchbacks, but not the best of the models, which again depends on you, you could go for i10, i20, swift, ritz, polo etc.But you won't get a fully loaded car, if you go for a first hand car.Hence, I suppose if you want a fully loaded sedan or hatchback, which is worth your money, go for used cars of Skoda, Honda and Chevrolet etc. which have low resale value, but amazing features and you'll get a better segment car altogether. If I was at your place, I would have gone for a Skoda Octavia or Fabia. They're economically (mileage per litre) wise amazing and low resale cars.

Brand new or second hand car?

Let's break this down.

BRAND NEW:
pros: Its brand new! everything is guaranteed to be fresh, new and original - Agreed
0 mileage - goes without saying
no hidden defects or anything....UNTRUE. How many brand new recalled Toyotas have you seen this year? New cars break down all the time. Have you ever been to a Lexus dealer service department? They are just as busy as the Chevy dealer or CARMAX.
cons: we have to face depreciation, which sucks - True but that isn't all. You pay way more for the car, You pay for it longer (loan terms are generally longer) and your insurance is more expensive

SECOND HAND:
pros: relatively cheap compared to a brand new one. - TRUE but that isn't all. You can get a great used car with a warranty that will last you just as long as a new car if you shop smart. The car will look just as good, ride just as good and last just as long.
cons: you'll never know whats hidden underneath _ UNTRUE - If you do your research and you inspect the car you'll end up with very few if any "hidden" flaws.
been used already - Goes without saying but that isn't necessarily a negative.
sellers say lies - UNTRUE assumption. You can't assume that every person selling a car is a liar. There are thousands of good people selling good cars. You just have to be a good judge of character. There is alos no guarantee that the new car salesman is being truthful either.
different parts from unknown sources - What does that mean? Are you assuming that parts you buy from Autozone are somehow all inferior and should not be sold? That is a moronic statement. I worked at a GM dealer for a decade and if we didn't have a part in stock we went righ to the NAPA store to buy one. The parts were manufactured in the same factory and put in a differnt box depending on who they were selling them to.

A used car is a smart financial choice. If you care about driving a good car and saving money and not superficial things like "it's been used" then a quality used car is the best choice. But in the end it's your money.

Where to buy a second-hand car in Thailand?

Used cars in Thailand are still very expensive when you compare the cost of a used car and a new car. Believe it or not even a car a few years old with high mileage is going to sell for close to new car prices.

The only choice is if you buy something much, much older.

Things to watch out for?

Never buy a car from a dealer operating out of a tent.

Make sure the used car dealership is very large and reputable.

If you are looking for a car only a couple of years old, Ford has an Assurance Program here as does Toyota that warranties the used cars.

Other than that, it is buyer beware.

I think having a qualified mechanic check the car before you buy anything is the smartest idea of all

Good luck

I want to buy a second hand car in budget of 2 to 3 lacs, which car should I buy?

First and most imp... Take it from a certified dealer who gives u warranty/guarantee on the car. It is around 10k more than market but there is a guarantee and assurance that most of the issues have been fixed.Drive the car urself and if possible take a mechanic with you to take a drive if you know any before you finalize.2-3 lac my suggestion would be to go for a 3-4 yr old car in the wagonr- i10 space. Both cars are value for money and low on maintenance. Dont go for a car which has exceeded 50k kms run as in all probablity the tires will be close to wearout. Do not take models which are already out of market.. You will have difficulty in selling it later.Ofcourse you might be tempted to go for a sedan but it should be clear that a sedan in that range will be atleast 7-8 yrs old with a run of 50k plus. In no time that car will start giving you odd maintenance jobs which will add up to the car price.

It is always better to buy a new car when you want to invest in Ola/Uber.Because second car may trouble you a lot in long running. While buying new one go with basic features.Don’t go for high end model,as it will be used for commerical purpose. For more information log on : Home
