I Want To Change My Name. Does This Sound Ridiculous

Do you know how ridiculous the Big Bang sounds?

Why it sounds ridiculous and scientists are attached to it…. while A Cosmic Controversy of leading scientists using dictionaries and understanding the terms disagree…. And the role of religion is out of place too. An awkward picture with Einstein’s disapproving look and Lemaitre’s disappointment tells all:In 1927, FATHER Georges Lemaître’s universe was the Milky Way (see Great Debate). That is what he based his Big Bang computations on and to that extent it works. Let us applaud the Vatican for being this progressive. Please take in evolution too.In 1929, Hubble introduced his constant to accommodate Lemaitre’s model (see Hubble's law). In 1936, Hubble established galaxies are outside the Milky Way. The VATICAN and press had already sold the idea so well that Lemaitre had won awards. It is even in the Church curriculum (see Catholic Knowledge Network Posters), though evolution isn’t.Hubble had no choice but to provide a work around to squeeze a 46.85 Gly light horizon into 13.7 Gly…. the duration estimated since the Milky Way black hole last had a quasar event responsible for the galaxy we all know and love today.Yes, the evidence is overwhelming, especially when you put evidence, laws and mathematical procedures before hypothesis (e.g. Distance, Comovement, & Minkowski). Or the Hubble Ultra Deep Field showing the full range of galaxy types from new LAE galaxies to ancient ellipticals spanning hundreds of millions of light years at a lookback of 13.3 Gly (below) and why I say never trust a physicist to do math. They are prone to their hypotheses. As I said, Big Bang works locally. That is why there is such good evidence. Much of the evidence is misused. Put in its objective place you get a quantum picture like my post In the Beginning…. That is for those who desperately want the simplicity of the children’s story. That has social function, and it doesn’t take away anything from religion. No cosmology explains where it all comes from or why.

Does the name "Justear" sound silly for a man?

To a native English speaker: yes, "Justear" sounds very silly. People will probably think "Really? Just the ear? Where's the rest of you, then?"If you want an English name, try picking an actual, already-existing English name (there are already several good links in other people's answers). It may not feel very special or unique to you, but that's the way English is. English is not just a different language but also a different culture. Part of that difference between Chinese and Anglophone cultures is that, generally, names are not individually created based a unique choice of word/s whose meaning or sound appeal to the person choosing the name. They usually come from a pool of pre-existing names with a long history to them. And while simply picking a name from a pool of pre-existing ones (rather than creating your own) may seem impersonal to you, those names do have significance for English speakers, who will spend much time and effort on choosing one (usually, parents choose them for their children and the name stays with the child for life), and choose them for a variety of reasons, e.g. to honour a family member or even a historical figure who also had that name. Therefore, any "English name" that is actually newly created by a Chinese person according to Chinese customs is not really an English name. Such an alias may work when dealing with other Chinese people, and some foreigners, but will probably sound strange to native English speakers and may even cause confusion (as they might not realize at first that it's supposed to be a name).

What is the most ridiculous name...?

Orangejello - pronounced Or-ah-ngell-o.

Also heard of a poor ignorant girl who named her daughter Leukemia.

My English name is Laughing. Is that silly? Does it sound weird?

It makes just about the same sense as Crying for a name. I'm sorry, but it's a totally insane name for anyone. You cannot just pick a random English word and use it as a name. You want a Western name, then follow Western rules of naming.Rules of Western naming:1. Westerners generally don't have unique names.*2. Pick a Western boy's/girl's name for the sound or meaning you like.**3. Think about the possible short forms and nicknames for it.4. If 2 and 3 are okay with you, use it. (See Advice.)5. If you want to be truly Westernised, pick also a middle name.6. Done!* Unless you have celebrity parents like rockstars, etc (and even then...).** Google for "name websites" or "boys/girls names."Advice: The Western name doesn't (and shouldn't) have to be 1 to 1 in meaning with your Chinese name.Your Western name (exactly like your Chinese name) is your 招牌 (zhāo-pái: signboard, shop sign) -- I think you know what I mean now.

Fiance's last name sounds HORRIBLE with my first name. What should I do? Help!?

This has always been in the back of my mind, but now that we are officially engaged, it is now a real problem for me.

My fiance's last name rhymes with my first name. It's a fine surname on its own, but it's literally the exact same thing as my first name (even spelled exactly the same), just with a different first letter, and it sounds RIDICULOUS when you say it out loud.

Hyphenating my maiden name and married name is an option, I suppose, but I'm not at all close with my father and thus, have never been attached to my surname in any way. I had always looked forward to shedding it at some point and adopting my husband's last name when the time came and that's how I always pictured it.

So what should I do, or what would you do in this situation? I'm not keen on hyphenating, but the alternative sounds completely silly.

Is my name ugly? Stupid? Should I change it?

no i like it my name is lydia its different but people love my name because of it

I HATE my name so much?

Well, if you don't have a middle name, maybe you could get one and go by that. Or, maybe you could change your legal first name.

I do think that Chloe could definitely sound like "an intelligent young woman." It is a very pretty name and is definitely not just for little girls, but I guess telling you that is not really going to make any difference.

Does any of this information make you like the name Chloe better?:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Daphnis_and... - Chloe is the heroine in this play.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chlo%C3%A9 - There is a French luxury clothing line called Chloe.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chlo%C3%A9_... - This painting is a little racy though.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eDd4nCl2pak&feature=fvw - There is even a very pretty, old jazz song called Chloe!

Even if none of that works, maybe you could go by Lola. It could kind of be a nickname for Chloe (maybe).

Hope this helps!
