I want to study in USA as an international student?
Is it possible for me to get a student visa although i've not actually applied to a college/university there I'm thinking about first taking the GED(over there in US) -> going to a community college -> transferring to a 4year university Oh and also is it possible to renew my visa when transferring to another university? (i mean after studying in community college)
Can US College students spend a semester at another US college/ university?
I want to experience the culture of the midwest. I have lived in big cities my entire life and would like to 'study abroad' at another school for a semester (within the USA). I go to school in the District of Columbia, so technically it's not a state in the union, so... ideas?
How is it possible to open an account in TD Ameritrade for non-US residents?
It is possible. I am a Bulgarian, and I managed to do that. Best thing is to just contact the support by dropping them an email, and they’ll write back with all the documents that are required for you to register with TD Ameritrade (few banks statements). The whole thing took like month and something, since in the end they send you a regular mail with your account number and PIN, but it is a lot faster to just contact the support and ask to activate your account.Here’s what the support answered to me:>>>> Thanks for your email and your interest in TDA. I am a non resident alien , what can I do to go to college?
Anyway, Please talk to your counselor. Quite often it is difficult to admit to school officials about your status, but, please do so. Your counselor will help you. You may be able to go to school with your TIN. You can also pay taxes with it, when you become employed. There are several states where you can attend college without providing proof of legal status. You will have to pay the "out of state" rate, though, which is considerably higher. Also, you probably won't qualify for work study, or, any grants. I don't know all states that allow undocumented students to attend, but, new mexico and texas are 2 that do. There is a way to attend in Wisconsin, also. HOW TO APPLY FOR TRANSFER IF COMING FROM ANOTHER SCHOOL/UNIVERSITY (TRANSFER 2) NOTES : * UP Diliman accepts transfer students from other schools every first semester only. * Deadline for filing application for local transferees is on the last working day of April. * Deadling for filing application for foreign applicants is on February 15. Steps: 1. Fill out a transfer application form and pay application fee of P100 for Filipino, P150 for resident foreigner, and US $20 for non-resident foreigner, at the OUR Cashier or UP Cashier's Office near PNB. 2. Submit accomplished application form, application fee receipt, two (2) recent photos size 2"x 2", NSO Birth Certificate, and a true copy of grades (original & 3 Xerox copies) for evaluation purposes. 3. Foreign applicants whose medium of instruction in their previous school is NOT English should take and pass TOEFL with a score of 500 if paper-based, 173 if computer-based, or 61 if Internet-based exam. 4. Follow-up of computation of GWA is around the first week of May (for local transferees) and the end of February (for foreign applicants). 5. As an American citizen applying to universities in the US from a high school abroad, do I count as an international student?
As long as you are an American citizen, you are NOT an international student.Here is a definition of an international student; "An individual who is enrolled for credit at an accredited higher education institution in the U.S. on a temporary visa, and who is not an immigrant (permanent resident with an I-51 or Green Card), or an undocumented immigrant, or a refugee."And, if your parents claim taxes in a foreign country, you will be out-of-state student, for sure.
