How long does it take for accutane to start working ?
I have had acne now for almost 6 years and finally I have some hope that it is going to go away because of accutane. I'm about to start it in a couple weeks and I know its not going to work right away and clear it up overnight but how long would you say it takes to start showing signs that it is working ? And what was it like while you were on it ?
About to start Accutane?
i just finished accutane, it's great considering your hair and skin will produce next to no oil at all. yes, of course you can still wear make-up! just make SURE you moisturize A LOT. For my face, I just used Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion everytime I washed my face. You will HATE your lips so much. They will constantly peel and be flaky and gross. I found the best lip balms to be the ones with medicinal ingredients. (The ones that are just meant to look good do nothing, and you just wind up with shiny peeling lips. Not a good look.) Burt's Bees was definitely the best, buy like three of them and keep one in your room, in your purse, at school, etc. You do NOT want to ever be caught without lip balm, trust me. My skin actually didn't get much worse before it got better, I was pretty lucky. Instantly I noticed I got a lot less zits, and after a month I was on my way to clear skin. It will dry out your hair, too, which will be good if you're one of those people who have greasy hair that needs to be washed daily. If you have average hair, get some moisturizing conditioner and hair products. You don't want your hair drying out. Best of luck, and your skin will look amazing after, trust me!
Piercing on accutane?
I'm starting accutane next week and I'm 18 in 3 months. I've wanted my ears stretched and septum pierced for years. I'm not asking this to hear you guys tell me it's ugly. I had my ears stretched before and it honestly made me feel better about myself. Anyways. I want to get my septum the day I turn 18. So I'll be 3, almost 4 months into accutane. How should I go about taking care of it? I know it isn't reccommended to get piercings on accutane but I don't want to wait a year from now to get it.
How long should i wait after getting a tattoo to start accutane?
You can have your tattoo first and then see your doctor. You can start taking the Accutane once the tattoo is healed. I agree with the one month wait from the time you get a tattoo and start taking Accutane, but most people successfully get tattoos after Accutane therapy by waiting a year from the time they have been off the medication. The best person to ask is your dermatologist.
How well does accutane work for acne?
It depends on how severe your acne is, and how your acne affects your life. I suffered from terrible back acne, and while I was thankful it wasn't on my face, I was too embarrassed to take my shirt off in public, or even around my wife. I completed a 5 month course of Accutane, and today, my back is completely clear. Not a single pimple to be seen anywhere. Over time, the red marks left by my cystic acne disappeared, and now I have a clear back. I am no longer afraid to visit the pool or the water park, so I can say Accutane dramatically changed my life for the better.Most people who take Accutane do so with no adverse health effects. In fact, the only guaranteed side effect is dry skin, and even that can be countered with lotion and lip balm. Also, when you stop taking the Accutane, the dry skin disappears and you are left with much less oily skin than you had before treatment. Yes, there are other side effects that MAY occur, but this is true of most medications. The good thing is that while on Accutane, you get monthly blood tests which monitor you for any adverse reactions to the medication, so if something starts to occur, they can stop the medication before it becomes a problem.Accutane is the closest thing we have to a cure for Acne. You can try diet, face products, soaps, toners and all that jazz, but nothing compares to the effectiveness of Accutane.
Take Accutane and fish oil at the same time?
I'm taking accutane for acne but want to start taking fish oil. I'm 17 and read that they can help you in so many ways, including memory and stress. I had a grandpa who lost all of his memories and was afraid of all of us and it was scary. However, I have a great-grandmother who is 98 and still sharp as a tack and has been taking fish oil for her entire adult life. I want to start now, even if it is only a small chance of it helping my memory when I'm older. My question is, can I take accutane and fish oil at the same time?
