I Want To Trade Stuff On Ourworld.com

Why did europe want to trade with india and asia?

Trade commodities changed, especially after the Industrial Revolution in Europe. Rome had established trade with Asia, both overland routes via the Silk Road through Turkey and Persia. Another established route came through the Arabian peninsula. The Italians were theee first Europeans to establish a monopoly trade in Asian goods.

Spices are what caused Europe's great demand for trade with the East during the 15th-17th centuries, chief of which was pepper. The great prize was the East Indies (Indonesia and area) over which first the Portuguese and later the Spanish and Dutch gained control. The British lost out in this first round of trade and had to settle for India.

Europe's major trad-able commodity was silver, composing an estimated 75% of its exportable goods. Late 18th c. saw the demand for tea in Europe almost bankrupt some nation's like England. The need to find alternative trade goods to export East was one cause of the Opium Wars, and Europe's assaults on China,

What’s going on in our world? Why do we need a trade war for?

Trump has trotted out any number of issues that he could milk for the purpose of aggrandizing himself, that is, “fix” and get the accolades. “The Wall,” leaps to mind, or course, which a Republican Congress, understandably will not fund (because illegals are cheap labor for the companies and individuals who attempt to ply Republicans with campaign money). He also touted the BAT (Border Added/Access Tax) in the campaign, and the list goes on an on.Trade, is one of those things that literally no one knows enough about to argue cogently, either for, or against. When he flung this up against the wall, it stuck, and so it’s become a “Cause Celebre,” with a capital ‘C.’ The reason? Trump can say any damned thing he wants about, and few people can counter the lie.Like when he started out, it was “We have an $800 Billion balance of trade deficit with China, and I want to reduce that by $200 Billion.” It turns out, total trade, imports and exports, from and to China, is about equal to $800 Billion. Then it became “We have a $500 Billion balance of trade deficit,” and it turns out that we import about $500 Billion from China. Truth be told, we export about $150 Billion worth of products to China, so the B.O.T. is actually about $350 Billion, but when you factor in “Commerce” you find that the “balance of trade” largely disappears entirely when you factor in Chinese investments in America, deposits in US banks, stock and bond purchase and ownership, purchase of US debt, tourism, student expenditures, and so on, the balance of commerce is just about non-existent.“Trade” is a political football, red meat for the converted. There are two schools of thought on the trade war. 1) it’s a stunt meant to boost his approval among his core constituents who were already upset about job losses to China and Mexico (and ignorant of the other 80% of all manufacturing job losses attributable to increased efficiencies, automation, and so on). 2) it’s simply the implementation of the BAT Trump touted during the primaries as a way to pay down the deficit and hence the debt (it’s not working so far since the 2018 deficit at $800 Billion to $1 Trillion far exceeds any potential tax revenue from tariffs). Only time will tell which it is.Nobody wins trade wars.

How old is our world?

Scientists have no reason to decieve you as to the age of the planet. They are searching for answers and are influenced only by hard evidence... They use radiometric dating of rocks found on earth (which are absolutely younger than the planet itself), moon rocks, and meteorites. There are other methods of predicting the age of the solar system which I don't understand quite as well - but they all point to about the same number.

The oldest rocks found on earth are about 4 billion years old. The oldest moon rocks are about 4.4 to 4.5 billion years old. The oldest meteorites are about 4.58 billion years old.

This evidence suggests the earth is about 4.54 billion years old (give or take a couple hundred thousand years).

Believe what you want, but this is what the best (unbiased) research suggests.

What issues in our world are you truly ready to "fight for?" Why?

The issues I really feel I would fight for — I mean really go to the mat for! — are pretty limited:the Constitution. Keeping it, not letting it be over-interpreted to death, returning to it much more than we have;maintaining free international trade, which means making sure that the U.S. can continue keeping the sea lanes free from Chinese interference;getting control of immigration;allowing the U.S. economy to grow as far and as fast as it reasonably can, which means getting China, Canada, Mexico and Europe to agree to fair trading practices, keeping taxes and regulations low, finding the right “balance” for a good healthcare system, and building a strong military;paying off the debt burden. That’s all! Just everything!Seriously, though, I see the U.S. at a crossroads now, where if we can get most things right, we’ll be a force for encouraging the world to switch to using conservative governing policies, i.e. minimal trade restrictions, less government-more free enterprise solutions to social problems, respect for national and traditional values, and just a general rejection of Marxism. But if we can’t keep it all together, and by that I mean, enacting most of the Trump agenda, I am afraid Western Civilization will find itself fighting Islam in the very streets of our capitals. Our economies will fail due to far too much debt and overspending, and we will be entering a world of very slow growth, little opportunity and choking frustration at what we could have been.

What if the barter system was reintroduced in our world?

Bartering would be a really bad system, especially in the modern day.The good thing about having a currency is that it is a measure of the value you produce, own, or trade whilst being the only, generally, universally exchangeable commodity. In a barter system there is no way to measure or store wealth since every commodity has a different utility and therefore value to someone else.Currency has it’s own utility, that being the ability to be exchanged for any good or service. Barter systems are incredibly inefficient because they require both parties in a trade to want what the other is selling. If you, the ironsmith, want to buy a loaf of bread from the baker yet the baker doesn’t want iron, then the trade is null. This is why it’s good to have a commodity that can be exchanged with any other commodity - money. That way, no matter what your personal relationship with the other party is, no matter what you both want or desire, doesn’t matter what your political views are, your money is as good as any. In that sense, money has acted as more of a liberator rather than a hinderance.Another good reason for currency is that barter makes division very hard. Money is easily divisble. The currency has a value and can be divided so that individual items can be bought easily. For instance, if you wanted to trade cows for another good or commodity you would have to match the exact same value in cows. That could be rather hard if the value is “a quarter of a cow”. You can’t literally carve your cow into a quarter to trade it.

Should US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, South Korea, Russia, etc. join EU?

I would be for 'Free trade' and for 'Free to settle' agreement in any of state of this Union. Each nation would keep own law, culture, currency,... .... I know many people, who want to live in Europe and many European people, who want to live somewhere else, but cannot due work permit...

It would take years for preparation, but it will be possible in future.

Only serious answers please.

Why does the world need money?

Money is a "medium of exchange" that is, a good that can be exchanged for other goods readily.

Let say we live in a world with no money. You are a corn farmer, so what you have is extra corn, you want a cow. That means you would have to go find someone trying to get rid of a cow that wanted corn. Next you want shoes, now you need to find a cobbler that needs corn. Every time you want to buy something you would have to find somebody to trade what you wanted for corn. And anyone who wants corn has to find a farmer willing to trade whatever they have for corn. As you can see in a large market a Straight barter system (that is what I just described) would be complicated and inefficient.

So whet would happen is people would find a item that had value, was light weight and easily recognizable and use it as a medium of exchange (aka money). Examples are gold, silver, beads (with the native Americans), tobacco (in Colonial America), and cattle. Now you could sell your corn for gold then turn around and buy whatever you wanted with the gold. You can see how that would be much easier.

Later on governments got in the currencies (or money) business and removed the ties to actual value (dollars are not backed by gold or anything more than a government promise). If you want I can give you some links to explain this more, it is kind of complicated.
